MAybe learn something from the Dutch? They had scale models of Rivers and Harbours from all around the world in the 60's and tested flow characteristics on scale... So everything... flow rate.. pebles etc etc. even tide and waves. The biggest model was a 1:75 600 meter long model from the Rotterdam port. Maybe you can grind black sand in a ball mill to get it real fine. Ofcourse this model tells a lot already... It shows the principals.
When are you two going to calab?!? Shane, how do you think slim would react to you! I bet Jeff and slim could get a lot of laughs messing with you! I was wondering how the gold would react when say the river comes to a dam area. It's a instant low pressure some when it runs into the back up but how will it drop out because the water flows out alot smaller hole higher up.

Watching this video was super motivational for me to get back out on the river bank! I did a much better job sampling and was more thorough than I had been in the past. I thank you from the bottom of my heart that I can learn so much from your knowledge. Here we say ... "Glück auf" - That means in Miners language - Good Luck and get home safely.
After seeing a lot of deposits in standing water once you cut the flow I now understand why my bud taught me to read rivers in the hydraulic ditches after they closed them off for winter but before water pools dried up as well as showing me down at the river where there's still a good bit of flow to visualize the fluid dynamics in person.
Thank you for making this video. I went to pan a large stream last night. It was flooded so this will help me know where to look when the stream returns to normal.
I lived in NV most of my life, and you have taught me more about gold in the short month since i found your channel. thank you, i have not found a UA-camr that only wants to teach like you. i love all your videos, even changing oil in your car. Great model and demo on where gold deposits, still trying to wrap my head around why on the black sand deposits the gold was sometimes on the front and sometimes on the back. Keep up the great work.
Jeff I have just watched this again, well several times again to be honest . It is fantastic. There's a lot more gold prospecting channels out there on this platform nowadays but you are the Daddy. AMAZING VIDEO! Only thing that I would or even could ask for is a wide shot that looks at the whole model after the gold has been dropped in. Thank you!

I only worked in one area that you taught me, so thank you, professor. I am 69 years old and now I cannot wait to work the creek. I found gold on my second pan!
