After weeks of rain and snow, the weather finally dried up enough for us to get back out to the Drift mine. It has been a while since we were there, and we wanted to know if there were any flooding issues. We did find something that got our attention. We also go on the hunt for more Gold nuggets metal detecting with the Gold Monster 1000. You gotta love the Drift mine , always so much Gold down there. Oh, if you where not aware brother, we have loss a good UA-camr, hobo shoestring and it is very sad😢 and he was a good person and hobo shoestring will be missed, he road the railroad trains alot and told everyone about the rails and the different trains and train cars and tought everyone alot and if I remember correctly brother hobo shoestring was a veteran.
I wish you could do a later start time. Dan Hurd on a Sunday morning is tradition then yours Jeff it would be better to have different start times to increase viewers. The mob of us viewers are torn between the two of you, with so many people who watch both of you guys it would be great to watch one then be able to jump to the other. You two could promote each other and increase viewers instead of dividing them. It could be like when we where kids on Saturday morning watching cartoons but now its gold we watch. Keep up the good work EH!

@@leeinwis Palmer Alaska, about an hour North of Anchorage. There is still snow in open spaces and leftover berms. About four days ago the 'bottom went out', a term we use when frost in the ground has basically thawed enough to allow ground to start flowing. That's mud puddles start drying up and rivers and streams start to raise. Today is the day ... The first spring rain which really helps melt the rest of the snow and brings up the soil temperature driving out the rest of the frost. The trees are staring to pop because of the rain.

Would be really wild if you did find a cave system. Wondering if ground penetrating radar could provide useful info. That would be a super cool video!

That little sump winch is just the ticket. Tony and I need one of those when we are cleaning out the bottom of our mine. Lifting those 5 gallon buckets up to dump them in the ore bucket takes it out of me. 🤪

spiders dont like rising water.. watched it all now always enjoy seeing this mine . have noticed your guarding it better thats a good thing
Had a thought... what about using a high suction vaccum system to pull out your muck since you're chipping out so much small chucks and grains... make an ore car the vaccum can with a cover and some vac motors, and suck the muck right in to the truck! Also, a can of survey marker paint - you can mark your nugget spots all at once, then dig them out at your leisure, or someone else can while you visit the honey pot. LOL

Wow Jeff, I'm glad to be a patron member now, I can remember seeing Jeff William on the history Channel* during a documentary, thn discovering one of his first ever you tube videos, on mono-polar motors, Jeff and Slim, I just wanted to say thanks for all the years of education you have given us, your enthusiasm to teach others is a golden, and worth more thn anything coming out of the ground to me. Looking forward to teaching my niece how it all works. We have already practiced enough with the paydirt that comes from the Pala chief mines, located near sad diego. However tht is only gems like watermelon tourmaline, aquamarine ect... so gold will be new to us. Before it gets to hot this year we.miggt take a trip down around Anza borrego to do a lil prospecting. Thanks again Jeff and Slim, please keep the videos coming. Jeff you should rig up a muck sheet on an old scissor lift jack, you could save a lot of time shovelling. At least I think it would work. I used one to build a motorcycle lift. And it works good for that.
WOOOHOOOO BACK IN THE DRIFT lots of gold down there and a good piece of quartz stuck to one of them. Well Jeff just strap on your harness and hook up to the winch and punch that sump hole down to the caves and underground river so you can quit digging and just pick up all the nuggets laying around for the next 3 years….. you know they are there waiting for you… great to see the drift again thanks for sharing see you on the next one👍🏼👊🏼

That's a lot of nice shiny good to see you in the drift mine that's not a worm that's an eel lives underground in the water tables and feeds on stuff in the soil feeds on bugs and fish that come down under the water table😂 thank you for the video
Take a 4 or 5 foot piece of 1/4" or 3/8" hard rod and weld a t handle one end of and you could probe through clay to feel depth in bottom of sump and drift. If there is a hollow spot you can find it wit the probe.

Get someone with a rig to drill water wells or the machine to take a core sample and run a bore straight down all the way. See where the water and cave is.

Oh my gosh, Jeff, my husband and I went for a walk on a hiking trail in Nevada and there were some of those ribbed galvanized drainage tubes that we had to walk through and they was about 2 to 3 inches of sandy dirt on the bottom. First thing that popped in my head was that I bet there was gold in the bottom because the ribs probably act like a natural pan, lol.
exactly ....check the first 3 feet of drain pipe at the head for Gold
Be sure and tie up to something in case you hit that void Jeff. And get one of those worms to give to the entomology dept somewhere to identify them.

Jeff- If the floor of the sump is flexing, I would suggest a safety rope and harness attached to you in case it gives way and you fall into an underground stream or cavern. Also have you thought of using a suction system like the opal miners use in Australia? I think it would make mucking out much easier, but I don't know how much it would cost to set one up.
There was a mine here that had a cave and stream under it. We believe it was in the alluvial river that went through the area. There is an interesting story about it too. It is lost, but we have a good idea of the area it was in. Sadly, my health prevents me from searching it out.
My exact recommendation about the vacuum, an old culvert/storm drain cleaning truck like the state highway uses would probably be the cheapest way to try it out.

The background musics kinda fitts one of my old nicknames of the "six buck dude", because of the underground coal bounce explosions covering me once and another time of crushing me against the double boom roof bolter with a solid piece of coal weighing over one ton. At the time, the Six Million Dollar Man TV series was still being broadcast, with co-workers tagging me with the "six buck dude" nickname because of all the required body operations and latter on in life the required 4 different location spine fusion operations. At first, my nickname was "Timex", because the old times would say, "that kid keeps on ticking after the licking he takes", with "Timex" more of a luck situation instead of body durability. Being 67 has a daily reminder of all the old injuries talking in pain language to remind me that everything in life comes at a price. Stay safe and healthy while having a good day.

Have you thought of black powder blasting, you can make it dirt cheap out of fertilizer KNO3 garden sulphur and your own charcoal, it would push and heave that packed stuff and break it into chunks instead of the shattering effect of a detonation you worry about causing damage. It worked for the old timers before they discovered nitro.you can even make your own fuse, one days pyrotechnic work and you could blast all week.
PS. drilling at 45° instead of 90 would probably be more effective.

Two pea size pickers are a good sign actually all that work for a few specks at the bottom of a dust pan would me considered a bust but two pea or bean size nuggets is rare due to size of course not to Jeff size nuggets that we seen in previous episodes !😁
