I do the calibration everytime I get to the field, but at the end I have never give the save command! Did I always done it for nothing, but it seems that was working just right..
As long as the fc stays powered on, the calibration is fine. But when you unplug the battery, you loose the calibration you just did. It’s like changing some settings in iNav configurator without hitting the save button before opening another tab
@@bertbeinaaf8314 "But when you unplug the battery, you loose the calibration you just did" seriously ?? has anybody else experienced this? I was not aware you needed to do a 'save' :-)
@@stevietee10 I’m not an expert, but as far as i know it works this way. Just like when you edit a textfile, and close it without saving You could ask Lee to be sure
Painless360 your channel is always packed with excellent information. Quick question, do the INAV stick commands show up in DJI goggles? I have the MATEK F405 WTE and can see many of the OSD elements but no stick commands? Thanks!
When I calibrate the compass, everything is fine. Nav pos hold works great . During the flight after about 5 minutes I try to nav pos hold again and it's already doing toilet bowl. what could cause this? I have rekon 7 pro (inav). Thank you
@@Painless360 Yes, as I said. I calibrate before the flight, take off and everything works. I fly for about 5-10 min and I see in the goggles the home direction arrow is not pointing correctly anymore. I try nav pos hold and it does toilet bowl. I have to land, calibrate and the nav pos hold works again. During the flight, it just goes wrong. Do you know why?
No idea. I'd suspect that something is causing the compass to drift off. If the model then flies ok again after you let it 'cool down'. That would point to something happening during flight.. Best of luck with it.
I'd strongly recommend using a separate buzzer on INAV builds. Useful to know things like when the GPS locks and super handy as a lost model alarm too...
I have found a lot of videos on this topic but none of them mention mode 1. I found a website that seems to say throttle high and pitch down and to the right for Mode 1 but it doesnt work. Sure would be nice if some of these vids covered us Mode 1 guys.
Stick commands for any mode are easy to find... See www.mrd-rc.com/tutorials-tools-and-testing/inav-flight/inav-stick-commands-for-all-transmitter-modes/ for example... Best of luck
@@Painless360 Thanks for the reply! Yes I found those already and when I use it is just says "settings saved" and I don't get a double beep and 30 seconds later there is also no beep. I have tried every stick combination possible.
This video has solved (almost) all of my quad issues! Thanks so much!
Amazing! I have been fighting with tangled USB cables every time I have to do a compass calibration. Many thanks for this tip.
I use the stick commands quite a bit they are very useful. stay safe Lee
Awesome, Lee! Thanks a lot!
Fantastic tips!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thank you for doing this. Much appreciated!

I just realized....if you do it every time at the field but never save - as long as you do it every time, you are good 🥰😎
U wake up I see the picture of you…..and I go back to sleep…

Sadly not. Happy flying!

Toilet bowling is almost always a sign of a compass that needs calibration. I guess you tried that?

Very useful thank you Lee!
This is really useful... is there an equivalent for ardupilot?
There is. You can now assign a switch to start the calibration too.. See the Ardupilot docs for full details... Happy flying
Does this still work in INAV 6 and do the beeps come from the motors or do you have to have a buzzer connected to your flight controller
I'd strongly recommend using a separate buzzer on INAV builds. Useful to know things like when the GPS locks and super handy as a lost model alarm too...
Fantastic another top tip
Thanks sir
I did not know that you have to save after calibration 😅
Always check the documentation. Things change all the time... Happy flying
Thank you so much!
how do you do this with DJI controller 2 ? it doesnt work
I don't have one to try. Best of luck

I don't calibrate compasses at the field for hobby flying. Doing it a few times a year is enough for basic mission and RTH... Best of luck
@@Painless360 OK thanks so much. That is true. I dont travel much so I guess once I get a good one I will stick with it.
Does this also work with the DJI goggles and air unit?
Yes, no difference in the signals going to the FC and ESC..
multiwii sweet memories..
Indeed. MultiWii was my first ever 'how-to and build' series on the channel back in February 2015!
