Been saving these until you had posted a few more. Started today, know a lot of the area but never did the whole thing. Looking forward to each next episode ( May binge watch).
I didn't spot that wee cairn and took the wrong way for nearly 2km. Walking N to S this alternative route was one of the most challenging but enjoyable days on the CWT.
Did you just have to double back or did you manage to cut across country? As I said at the time I think that was the toughest bit of Cape Wrath Trail I'd done across both trips. But found the feeling of remoteness pretty special and it felt good to be there
Thank you so much for sharing your adventure it’s so interesting particularly as I have walked parts of those routes and it was probably my most difficult days walking too. I’m glad I did it when I was a bit younger. I look forward to more episodes and hopefully bit by bit I shall complete the same challenge by the end of next year. ATB to you. 👌💯👍 Ohh yes Scott I wondered how far you have got or if you have finished. ?
Thanks Dave good to hear from you I knew you were doing a similar project. Glad you enjoyed and that it rekindled some memories 👍 But do you really want me to answer that question 😆 spoiler alert and all that! I'll hopefully finish the video editing before the end of the year (bloody easier walking lol)
thanks Harry, I think going over the mountain route (around Ben More Assynt via Inchnadamph) like I did last time is defo easier - but glad I've seen the bogfest for myself!
That was a wonderful watch. I am always looking for new routes and avoiding that road walk from Sandwood Bay, and that fits perfectly to Acfary. Also, the variant from Glencoul bothy is one i wanted to do, so that gives me a heads-up. It truly is boggy!
Ha ha yes, ironically the worst part of the "Beinn More bypass" route isn't the track-less bit - its the state of a section of the track! Glad I've done it but still prefer the Inchnadamph route and fond memories of my camp at the head of River Oykel
@endorphins479 the head of the Oykel was a nice camp. Did stop off at the Salochy ruin? Camp in thecwood next to it. Dreamt I was being sat on by a Spectre and woke with sleep patalysis. 🤣🤣 scary stuff
Well completed the walk-up Stath Dionard to Acfray as the ferry and bus were out. Delightful walk, much better than the Riochinch route. Also took the Loch Mor variant out of Glencoul bothy. @endorphins479
Nice one! Hope the latter wasn't too boggy, though I suspect it never is "dry" 😁. Is that you on another CWT trip now taking in different variants from your last time?
Thank,s for taking me back 30 yrs pal, Glencoul Bothy, did you not plan to use bothies en-route? A tent gives freedom but no substitute for a cosy bothy.
I like to camp outside bothies on a long trek, then can get away to bed for sleep and an early start without disturbing anyone. But the ticks were horrible where I camped - it was late and I was tired and just pitched didnt even go near glencoul bothy this time.
Hi Scott. I have been looking forward to this from the moment you said you were doing it. What stunning scenery and the different rout you took down Strath Dionard was brilliant, nice to see some different areas of an alternative Cape Wrath Trail. Really looking forward to seeing how this whole trip unfolds. All the best mate and good luck, Dave
God that clip at the end just shows how far it is. Each day as it comes I suppose. Really looking forward to seeing how you get on. Great video to start!
It's wonderful to be a part of your journey, Scott. Thanks for bringing us with you in body and with Finn in spirit. Can't wait for the next installments as I recover from a minor op that should enable me to get up at least a Corbet. 🧭
Really enjoyed the video looking forward to the journey
Glad you enjoyed, I'll warn you it's a long haul getting through the videos though as I've said to others, might be easier walking it! Pace yourself😂.
Great stuff and looking forward to more. Atb
Thanks Ray!

Fantastic scenery. I’m impressed by how much food you’re carrying. Restock Ullapool?
Yes absolutely, restock after Inverlael. But not as much needed from now on thankfully!
Inspirational. All the best for your journey. Take it easy, Finn is watching 👍
Thanks Paul - yes Finn was with me on this, hogging the tent 😀 bless him ❤
Well now, Scott, it’s lovely to see you back on YT! Looking forward to your adventures.
Thanks Mike, been a bit busy 😉

@davidalexander287 no I didn't stop by Salochy ruin by Oykel, and unlikely to in future after that story 😅

Loving the scenery up there, kudos for exploring the alternative routes, tough going at times !
Thanks Angus it's definitely a special corner of Scotland, though yes, tough going off the main trails!

Aye, heard tick,s are rampant on the Glendhu to Coul path. We had it bad at Craig bothy.@@endorphins479

Thanks so much Dave, yes I am always keen to explore new routes as you may have noticed 😃

Thanks Stewart. You're right though - taking each day as a bonus even so close to the start

Thanks Mike glad you are enjoying, hopefully you'll be bagging Corbetts before long! 👍
