Dinner at the Greenhead hotel was fantastic the night I was there.Stayed in the bunkhouse across the road. The Tan Hill Inn though took out first place for food
Greenhead Hotel and the veggie Sunday roast at Hawes were my best meals on the PW - Tan Hill was mobbed when I was there though that didn't seem to stop me getting a few pints in
Lovely area where you were there scott, been a great series of videos to follow so far each one different and great patter to accompany them.cheers for sharing
Hi there Scott. I remember that weather back in June well, it was baking hot wasn’t it. Loved the clothes spinner, my nanna used to have one of them. Haven’t seen one for ages! Haha All the best Dave. 😀🥾🏴🏴
Absolutely amazing as usual 🤗 you put so much into your videos we could watch them all day , the weather has been on your side too maybe a bit hot at times bur better than the rain . You never seem to have problems with your feet can i ask about your footwear. Thank you again for taking us on your fantastic journey thoroughly enjoying it 🤗 🥾👏
No complaints about the weather- don't mind heat its cold that bothers me! I wore the same pair of trail-running shoes throughout the walk, which was probably a mistake as given the conditions a pair of cushioned running shoes would have been sufficient and comfier once down from the Highlands. I was applying vaseline to feet 'problem areas' each morning for first few days of walk till they toughened. Also lots of conditioning over a few months before starting (that's when I did get blisters!)
@@endorphins479 thank you very much for your advice on foot wear , I had terrible blisters on the WHW think the problem has been boots to hard 🙈should have worn trail shoes! Next time I will 🥾🏴. Look forward to your next episode.cheers .
Great series and you have had great weather so far, suspect that changes before the end of the journey. Intrigued by the feet shot as to what footwear you chose for the trip?
Yes weather changes! I was wearing trailshoes throughout, that's what I'm used to from trail running for many years, although probably could have switched to something more cushioned after Edinburgh since less wild walking
Great stuff Scott. I have to say I found the Pennine Way ever so slightly dull in places. Did you find getting drinking water a problem at any time? I found the Cheviot very dry, and some sections of the SWCP were desperate 👍🙏
Yes I think even Wainwright found the Pennine Way dull! I loved it, again, I can only put that down to being somewhere less familiar (and I enjoyed the villages/pubs for sure). I carried a 2l water bladder and during that spell of weather I'd fill it at campsites before leaving. But I did end up dehydrated a couple times. I'm thinking that if wild camping (rather than using campsites), both PW and SWCP, sourcing clean water is going to be a much bigger deal
@@endorphins479 When I did the SWCP this year I had to take some water from a stream. I filtered it and boiled it, but within hours I was shaking and retching. I then found out another walker had drunk from the same and had ended up in hospital. It turned out that a farm was tipping waste chemicals in to the water course. Apparently, this is common practice as the powers that be can only slap wrists and impose tiny fines. Ludicrous!!!!
Ooft that's scary. One of the nice outcomes of this walk for me was a renewed appreciation of how lucky we are to have naturally fresh water always within reach in the Highlands, along with the right to roam and freedom to wild-camp responsibly
👍👍

Thanks Harry, I often thought during the wall how each day had its own personality!
Nice one Scott, now your across the border it is unfamilair to me now lol . Look forward to the next one mate ..cheers Stevie
Thanks Stevie, it's the less familiar bits I enjoy best!
Great vlog again. Fantastic effort. What a beautiful island we live on.
Thanks, yes that's a thought that crossed my mind nearly every day on this walk 👍

Yes if I could fit a clothes spinner in my backpack along with all the other excess junk I carry, my walks would be transformed.
