- King Charles leads the country in honouring Britain's war-dead at the annual Remembrance Sunday wreath-laying and national silence in Whitehall.
Queen Consort Camilla and the Princess of Wales looked on from the Foreign Office balcony as King Charles and Prince William laid wreaths on the Cenotaph memorial in Whitehall.
Report by Louis Etemadi.

Love that the peels of Big Ben are back in London - fantastic Victorian craftmanship. Lest We Forget - this time of year always is so very poignant. Thank you to all of those who are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for us, past and present.
Cathy Wilson, I am going to correct you here, and I hope you will be interested, rather than offended.
Terminology-
What Big Ben does is toll.
When the bells known as the Westminster Chimes play, and all that sound automatically on the hour, or the quarters, is "chime".
Carillons that play tunes also chime, whether they are playing automatically, or someone is playing them from a manual or keyboard of some sort.
A peal has a specific meaning. It is when a group of bell have been hung so that they swing, and are played by a team of ringers. Ringing a peal requires training, and whenever they are rung, there is a Master of the Bells who directs the order in which they are played. The bells themselves are called a peal.
The City of London, within a small area has an amazing twenty peals of bells, including the famous Bow Bells, the Jubilee Bells at St James Garlickhythe, and the Bells of St Pauls Cathedral. The number might be from five to 12, and occasionally more.

I thank God that he is still providing us with people who are craftsmen and women, to keep these buildings in good and working order.

I would have said The Great Bell of Saint Pauls as it is the biggest bell of them all.
I used to play the bells years ago and found it to be a magical sound.
Still love the sound but, at 85 am too old now to play them. Pity each church with a bell is not allowed to have them perform on important ceremonial occasions.
The British people were so brave and unrelenting in their resolve to not be swollen up by Adolph Hitler. I have tremendous admiration for them.
"If you think we're going to gamble on Herr Hitler's "guarantees", you're making a grave mistake. All those years in England seems to have left you none the wiser. We're not easily frightened. Also we know how hard it is for an army to cross the Channel. The last little Corporal who tried came a cropper. So don't threaten or dictate to us until you're marching up Whitehall! And even then we won't listen!"
Yeah but we allowed ourselves to be swallowed up by the European Union and surrendered our soverignity to them. They would be turning in their graves seeing the invasion of 5000 illegal immigrants coming in daily
Only took the might of the American people. Europe would be blonde hair and blue eyed by this point.
The contributions of the armed forces of the Empire/Commonwealth should not be forgotten either. From Canada and the West Indies to Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand, they all fought valorously against tyranny.
Surely you mean you HAD admiration for them?! Just look at them now! Swallowed up by full-blown communism and bowing down to the satanic freemasonic, globalistic WEFminster lackeys!
As an American, I hope that our friends in the UK always maintain these magnificent traditions to remind the rest of the world that there's more to life than the latest internet trends and manufactured controversies.
Thank you. We've now done it for over 100 years and still going strong. The same Remembrance and laying of wreaths is going on in towns and villages across the land. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM 🙏❤🇬🇧
Absolutely agree 👍
@Laurence O'Connor I can tell you, they didn't happen, because people had kept them as their priority. There were totally different reasons.
A Canadian, I fully agree. 🇨🇦
Well said. Agree 💯. Another admiring American.
As always, handled with dignity and respect for the fallen in all conflicts.
A moving and thought evoking ceremony.
"Respect" for the fallen, as Britain, supports, funds and even joins in a depraved, manufactured war against Russia, using Ukrainian men to die as proxy fodder for its evil intentions.
Let's just say his wealth could certainly help the homeless veterans, even end it
@@sallyedwards7162 Absolutely, yet so could the government by diverting mismanaged funds toward the troops and veterans. Housing and welfare should never be an issue, yet government - past & present - still let down the men and women who've sacrificed so much.
@@gazpal for sure, couldn't agree more
beautiful cover of veiled cynicism, nothing more.
This video was so well done. Thank you for not doing a voiceover, and for the close up of the bell ringing. I was very moved by this moment of silence. Thank you.
I'm an American and love this celebration day
commemoration not celebration. A celebration, an event enjoyed recognising something pleasant has happened.
I understand that Veteran's Day is celebrated on the same date in the US. In the UK and throughout the Commonwealth this is a day of mourning. It is a solemn day, for many including myself, a deeply emotional day. We feel and share a huge sense of loss. There is nothing to celebrate. We do not glorify their sacrifice. We bow our heads in respect.
It's one if your States.....word war. 1. A nd. 2. It looks great....the huma n souls..
Beautiful and very moving. When it comes to ceremony no one in the whole planet can beat the British. Such respect and gratitude to the fallen. With deep admiration greetings from the Philippines.

Thank you. King Charles is so deeply emotional and engaged. So real. It was for me a heart-wrencher to see Prince William carry the bouquet with the Prince of Wales feathers in it. Just such a visual reminder of the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Great, and of the changes that has brought to the serving members of the Royal Family, the loss, so recent. Dignity and respect from Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales, indeed from all present. Loved the bells. Respect.

As an American whose grandfather fought in WWII, I want to thank you @S P for your very heartfelt message. May God Bless You and all the men and women who were already soldiers, those drafted and those who had no other choice but to take up arms over all the horrible wars. No one wins a war, Victory or a Cease Fire is declared but all sides lose the most precious thing, Souls. May we all stand together as one against anyone who would ever take up these arms again. Beautiful ceremony . My greatest respect and sadness . God Save the King and RIP for those who’s gone
What a beautiful and respectful ceremony. Traditions are so very important to uphold.
So sad to see this ceremony of remembrance without Queen elizabeth ll
I was the same but I think King Charles acted just like his mother would have! It must have been very emotional for the member’s of the Royal Family, having lost the Queen very recently! I’m sure she is looking down on them with Prince Philip at her side, very proud of how they have taken over their new role’s. Just like their great teacher, the late Queen, they are dedicating themselves to a life of service and duty. My thoughts go out to all of the fallen warrior’s, the world over, who sacrificed their lives to service and duty, to protect and uphold, the values of their country, their efforts will never be forgotten. My sympathies also go to the families, who lost loved one’s, as they showed great bravery, to keep people and nations around the world, in a safer place. My heart goes to all the people, who sustained terrible injuries, leaving many disabled. Also, to the the people who served in combat, that are suffering with silent injuries, that cannot be seen, yet they too need our thoughts and prayers! We all need to remember all of these thing’s and learn from their sacrifice’s, that not one single person has died, in the effort’s, so that everyone, the world over, must continue to come together and be tolerant of the difference’s, between nations and accept we are all different, in one way or another, yet through the correct dialogues and understanding of each other, we can find peace for everyone! RIP take care everyone and think of the people, who have sacrificed so much, serving and carrying out their duty, to their nations, so we may live a better life. 🦋🌸🏴🌸🇬🇧🌸🇺🇸🌸🦋🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

The king looked very tearful and must have been thinking of his mother.
Charles lived to be King. I did not know, if I would see that.
The British never forget their fallen brave.
Even in remembering people should never repeat the mistake of war again. . It's good to see the king lead his nation in remembering all the he soldiers who gave their dear lives during the war.
Wars happen because of the greed for political power and coveting other people’s land. Land grab has been going on for thousands of years. British Empire built on land grab. 👍
it is strange to hear such words these days, when England supplies weapons to Ukraine and prepares new meat for the military meat grinder.
England is so organized - don’t know how they can put on so many events .. flawlessly! Very impressive
Leave order to the British, the best in administration too.
We should never forget and hope one day there will be world peace for everyone.
Unfortunately that won’t happen. Because although evil people and evil regimes and armies can be taken down with great effort, evil cannot be removed from the human condition.

Long live the King. A good king will be an example for his people, and will make history that will always be engraved in the hearts of his people 🥰.
Very nice, we had our equivalent in the United States on Friday, we call call it Veterans Day. Among the things that we do, whoever is President will lay wreaths at tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington National Cemetery outside of our capital, watching King Charles lay a wreath reminds me of that & it a lovely tradition. These men & women sacrificed themselves for the greater good of their country,God love them for that.
If I recall correctly, I believe there are a few bodies at the tomb. I believe a couple have been identified now. I’ve seen the changing of the guard ceremony and it’s very somber. The strict training and requirements of the soldiers are interesting.
@@susanmetz9892 yes that’s the story behind it,it’s just called that because it started as one man who was brought back & couldn’t be identified at the time. This tomb will always stand to represent all those who lost their lives in past conflicts that were unable to be identified even if eventually everyone those who was buried in it is identified.
Doing a great job so far, we are all rooting for you King Charles III!

But going thru these firsts with cameras following your every move and folks saying negative things & just the constant comparisons cannot be easy.
