- This video documents some recent changes made to the Camden Road level crossing at Douglas Park, New South Wales.

The pedestrian crossing remains unchanged, as does the northern signal with it's Safetran gate mechanism and WRRS mechanical bell. The southern signal has been upgraded with a new mast and Western Cullen Hayes gate mechanism and rather unusually, the McKenzie & Holland lights and Western Cullen Hayes mechanical bell from the old signal have been reused on the new signal.
The old counterweights from the previous Safetran gate mechanism have also been reused on the new Western Cullen Hayes mechanism and for some reason the new signal has a "3 Tracks" sign mounted incorrectly behind the crossbuck. This is very odd considering that the crossing only has two tracks.
The first freight train shown in the video is 2MB4 running from Melbourne to Brisbane with locomotives NR4, NR114 and NR70.
The second freight train is 2126 aggregate from Lynwood Quarry to Rooty Hill, With locomotives TT106 and TT103.

Great video! Wonder if a third track's going to go in here? That, or the old signal had rusted out, so it was replaced.
Thanks! The crossing used to have three tracks until the early 1990's, the signal with the WRRS bell was moved closer to the tracks after the siding was removed. I'm surprised they didn't use the 2 Tracks sign from the old signal rather than install the incorrect one.
@@McKHAust Wonder if they thought it wouldn't fit? Also entirely possible they thought it still had three tracks (because the track count wasn't updated properly in the database or something like that) when getting the signage for the new signal.
Yes it's possible that there was a mix up and someone thought the crossing still had three tracks. I thought maybe the new signal was originally meant for another crossing but can't think of any other three track crossings in need of new signals.

Also did you notice that the new signal has a white SORS sign that is the same size of a classic one?
And also I love that WRRS Bell, but it sounds like it may need a bit of TLC.
Thanks! I did notice the SORS sign, wish they would stay with the old shape because it's nicer. Hopefully the WRRS bell can survive for a while longer but it does sound a bit weaker when compared with my previous visit last year.
I agree, I also think the larger size makes for better visibility.

It's not quite as simple as sending the pictures into the forum, as someone still needs to make the web pages which takes a lot of time. I have thought about starting a flickr account or something just to show my pictures but would prefer them to be on the forum. Either way it would take lots of time.
I reckon create a Flickr account and then send them to the account.

Nice! This upgrade is certainly one of the strangest that’s been done. It’s a wonder they bothered reusing much of the old equipment but I guess it makes things a bit more interesting. How did they manage to stuff up that 3 tracks sign up lol?
Thanks! It sure is a strange upgrade, hopefully they do the same thing if the other signal gets upgraded but the WRRS bell sounds weak. I can't even imagine why they put a 3 tracks sign here, perhaps someone is having difficulty with their counting lol

Thanks! The WCH gate mech is certainly new but the mast could have been recycled or just stored outside for a period of time, same for the base. I don't know for sure.

@@jacktherailwayenthusiast3343 I did think about calling it that but I'm pretty sure there will be another video some time in the future.
Why was the signal upgraded?
I'm not sure. The previous Safetran gate mech may have been having issues or was damaged. It's even possible that the crossing is "mid upgrade" and there are plans to replace the other signal also.

The crossing was upgraded with all new equipment and WCH e-bells at least a year ago and it's not one that I want to film.
