Outstanding tutorial, I ten years of Toyota building I have never been as mad as when I accidentally let the ball bearings fall out. It is possible to recover from but not easily.
Awesome video, I have used it several times now to really rebuild and tap boxes for my friends. Everybody likes the relocation of the second tapped hole.👍🏻😎.
Yup. Top port goes to the right side of the ram and forces your wheels left. Fwd or outboard port goes to the left side of the ram forcing your wheels right. As mounted, aft inboard port is return, and fwd outboard is pressure.
I drilled and tapped my box per this video. Seems to have worked well. I plugged the holes, put the box back in and bled it. Then, a week later I went wheeling and half-way through the day the box puked out all the fluid between the mating surface of the input shaft and the steering box housing. I don't know if the Permatex just didn't hold, or if something internally went wrong and built enough pressure in that area to force the fluid out. Any ideas? I am heading out to the shop in a minute to tear into it. Thanks!
Tore apart. Only thing that seemed incorrect was I had squishes permatex all over the new O-ring I had installed. Carefully scraped it off and re-installed ring. Box going back together now...if only I could find the torque specs for the 8 bolts...
Question when you say pushing the tires left is that from in the truck or in front of the truck please clarify with passenger and driver thank you great video by the way did my box you walked me through it
Good show i'm about to do this in a week, you seem like you know whats up. So this vid came out at the right time for me. Whats eye pro something I need ?
For a hydraulic application like this, would you prefer to use teflon tape on the threads or thread sealing compound? My first thought would've been thread sealer. Just wondering if you actually prefer the tape as opposed to the sealer or if it doesn't really matter for this.
Thank you for this video. It was perfectly straight forward and to the point. I had no problem tapping my box thanks to you. What pump dis you run with this setup. Ive had the stock pump for about a year and it's just not cutting it. Also can you do a toyota hydro assist system bleeding video? Thanks.
Haha no. Those other 2 posts are from guys i work with. :"Eye Pro" is short for Eye Protection. Safety is a big deal at work and a bit over exagerated. They're joking, saying i should wear safety glasses. So no you dont need it unless you really really want it. Glad this vid helps. good luck with your setup!
Didnt notice the first time I watched but its ironic when your doing your reassembly the alice in chains is playing and right as you were puting part in and watching the teflon ring it said " Oh god please could you help me make it threw". Lmao!!
Thnx! I know they're in a few of the later model half ton chevys, and they're nearly identical to Borgeson Boxes found in dodges. All I know about D+Ting them I learned here: www.pirate4x4.com/forum/dodge/944064-tapping-borgeson-box-etc.html
Sweet vid, every little step explained clearly. Watched it a couple times and feel ready to tap that box!

Great video, thanks for the excellent guide!
A link to the drill bit and tap on Amazon or someplace would do ya good. And anything else you might want to link
Can you move the left pressure line further around the barrel of the gear box towards the back of the truck due to moving the box forward?
Good show i'm about to do this in a week, you seem like you know whats up. So this vid came out at the right time for me. Whats eye pro something I need ?
Once you center the sector shaft. After that step do you have to place the worm shaft in neutral position?
Sleek S center the input shaft, by eye. You should look down from the top, and see that the sector shaft gears will mesh up evenly.
@@VonWilsonator okay, thank you very much truly appreciated it.
Great vid bro, took all the guess work out of my rebuild. Who you work for? Thanks, I owe you a cold one for this vid broths.
so the top port is pressure when turning left. I am getting the hoses figured out for my assist.

You know you can reinstall the 42 ball bearings it is just like a ball screw, I had my son do mine
Hi are you still making these? I am a land cruiser owner. Can you do this to an 80series land cruiser?

Didnt notice the first time I watched but its ironic when your doing your reassembly the alice in chains is playing and right as you were puting part in and watching the teflon ring it said " Oh god please could you help me make it threw". Lmao!!
