I don't understand why rick beato called the scariest "rock" guitar player ever. He has got some great fusion ideas but he doesnt have a very harsh jazz background obviously.
@@JamesWilliams-js4fo ya know, I turned 60 this week and I’ve been messing with guitars since 1976. I do love EVH and feel he was and will always be the most innovative and greatest electric guitarist in the history of the instrument- but he laid his frosting on top of those before him. Most notably, in my opinion, Clapton, Page & Beck, Richards. I know it is popular to say Hendrix, but I don’t say it - had an amazing image and some good songs and rock and roll mojo. All of that is to say, you take the worlds most technically proficient players, the fastest, most talked about, etc etc and they are not the foundation of the cake. They are merely trying to outdo or compete with what has come before - there is a lot of parroting. Govan is different, and I love his demeanor and he is a stunning player - yet, as good or complicated and robust as he can play, I would still rather listen to the solo in Fool For The City, Deuce, I’m The One and I could name more….as far technically as guitar has advanced, it has not surpassed the memorable, energetic and teeth gnashing solos of the 70s.
Yes the first two beautiful I followed every note,..something that I actually play myself so yes cool..after that it was just show off 🙄😏... So I kept my guitar aside and watched 😂😃😅 Edit..I got the 4th too btw😎🤓
Wow I did not know you could do harmonics like that. When I was learning pinch harmonics, I would accidentally tap the string to hit a pickup magnet and something similar used to happen.
It's just a natural harmonic, like you can perform by touching the string at the 12th fret and picking it. Since his guitar doesn't have 24 frets though, that's where the guesswork of estimating where the 24th fret is comes in.
The first two licks are do able. Just getting speed. The licks after three minutes (require stretch) Everyone says finger length doesn’t matter? A more accurate answer is finger size doesn’t matter playing ‘Slash’s’ entire discography. By today’s standards ‘Slash’ is intermediate guitarist. The bottom line is guithrie govan, Tim Henson have long fingers. It’s ironic that guitarist with short average finger have better technic thumb behind neck. This doesn’t mean great technique gives a player with short fingers long stretch. It just means short fingers are disadvantage no matter your technique. You don’t guys with short fingers playing polyphia songs. Although playing a strat or telecaster is an advantage after play 7 strings, or six strings beat up acoustic
I never get tired of listening to Guthrie. This man is a God of guitar 🎸

@@spoingus20oh trust he sure does 😉 ua-cam.com/video/gH69XYmU6Cs/v-deo.html
@@spoingus20, just like you said. scariest rock player, not jazz
Guthrie is literally the only guitarist every time I watch I find something new I’ve never seen done before
yep him and holdsworth for me
Guthrie: "That's the general idea"
Me who still has no idea wtf is going on: "Yes of course, thanks"
😂
Whew! Am I ever glad he started with the easy beginner stuff (for gods).
#3 is one of the coolest licks I have ever heard….it will take me about 6 months to play it at 1/4 speed 😂
Yeah it's truly sick, I'm up nights working on it.

@@eon5417 I never thought about plucking a harmonic from behind the note, as he does with the (LH) pinky pull off
@@benjaminhartensteinit's not really behind. He pulls of to 0.
👍
So strange seeing Guthrie holding a strat instead of a charvel or suhr
I believe this is a suhr strat, u can tell by the headstock
The lessons which are not applicable to anyone else.
That sounds like something Arpmandude plays.
Is he recording this at gunpoint?
