this really fuckin hard i can only move my wrist this fast when i bash one out, maybe i could try watching porn while doing this technique, watch this space
+Jack Reilly its not that hard just relax and try to hit only two strings or less its called focus just keep workin on it and anyone who watches this will eventually get it down
This is really easy, no need for the babies. Just make sure you have have peanut butter on the spoon. Dragons are easy to get by when their mouths are stuck shut with peanut butter!
Amazing right hand control, seemingly effortless. IMO, Govan is to be admired not only for his musical prowess and dexterity, but also his willingness to educate. Only true masters have the self confidence to instruct others on how they do the magic they do.
Some people just don't know how gifted they are! When he says it's really not that difficult. I took some lessons from Paul Gilbert back before he was famous. I remember him saying to me, "It's just three notes moving up and down the neck". You can imagine the expression on my face when demonstrated 'how easy' it was! God bless their modest and humble souls.
I can play it myself. But guthrie would never compose melodies and use sweeping as good as jason does. Guthrie and Jason are my gods, but jason was better than guthrie because he was younger and mastered all guitar techniques before everyone then
Just 'cause you haven't heard of a "better" one (as terribly unsophisticated and subjective of a term "better" implies), doesn't mean he/she doesn't exist. Though in the public's eye, few have impressed me like Guthrie as well. In terms of musicality in the guitar world, I think of John Petrucci, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Paul Gilbert to name a few. Though, everyone plays so different, I could never say anyone of them is better than another. We can all shine!
Some people think that 4 guys pushing buttons on a laptop is "art." You know of whom I speak .. Kraftwerk. I do NOT think of them as art at all. These people think that mastery of an instrument is pretentious. They prefer simpler sounds, like The Ramones. Don't misunderstand me, there's nothing at all wrong with The Ramones. But I couldn't listen to three-chord bands all day, no way. I need some wizardry too. I like listening to people like Mr. Govan.
I'm a drummer and i very much enjoyed watching this, not only because of how incredible the guy is but i like how he calmly talks and tells you what's going on. What a tutorial! I do pick up a six string from time to time, this guy is awesome!
@@hywel4605 Guthrie's not nearly well known enough as guys like Vai or Satriani. For a non-musician regular person like my mom for example, she barely remember who those two are but I'm pretty sure has no clue about Guthrie
who on earth can dislike this?😱Guthrie has travelled back in time from some 3000 A.D. to reveal to us his advance discoveries in music... He is a true legend!
For anyone who’s ever fallen back on that tired bromide, “those who can’t, teach.” need to watch Guthrie. Just an astonishing player and a great teacher.
iam watching his videos not even tryin to learn something. its just so relaxing to listenin to his voice. Please do some live book reading!!! that would be amazing
This is a great lesson. Strumming is percussive/rhythmic already (even more so on acoustic guitar) and this gave me a path to move even more in that direction. Cheers!
..dang GV you make it look soo easy :D , caption for this video is "Do not try this is at home. these stunts are performed by hardcore professional" . best teacher i have seen (y)
He is a genius, the most eclectic I know, dominates many styles with definition, I would like to come to Brazil to play bossa nova, samba, swing would break
Guthrie is a true innovator. I thought new guitar techniques were "done" and that the goal was to be creative with what we have. Then I discovered this cat a few years ago.
"it's not that dificult if... you're me"
The kind of attitude that makes you never get better lol
I lol'ed
Just have the right amount of jerks a day
you should be able to play it by now
I can imagine Guthrie wearing a sorcerer's robe
dude my fav youtube comment of this year XD :'D Rofl damn....lol
I've always imagined the Rincewind the Wizzard character from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series looking like Guthrie.
watch the music video of rockall by the young punx
yeeaah
Rick wakeman did.

Best advice given to any musician "Find one tempo and increase the number of repetitions you can do before you lose concentration."
@@ethereal2706 was this a text to you ex?
Yeah that hits on a different level, at least for where I am currently with the guitar and understanding music.
"It's not that difficult...." - Guthrie, 2014
What the funk..
funk off or ill slap your bass
It's simple, you only have to fight 3 dragons blindfolded with a wooden spoon while protecting 10 paralyzed babies at the same time.
This is really easy, no need for the babies. Just make sure you have have peanut butter on the spoon. Dragons are easy to get by when their mouths are stuck shut with peanut butter!
Take into account the bad drop rate. You might have to do this a few times.
His pick might catch fire someday
Haahahahaa
ever heard of the game frets on fire?
😂🎸🔥
He actually replaces them frequently. They say it takes him about a week to burn through his collection.
I just realized Guthrie Govan's initials is GG.
I wonder if it's relevant.
GG alin?
Chuck Norros
Great Guitarist.
+blastcombatX Guitar GOD
+blastcombatX and there's bryan beller (BB) and marco minnemann (MM)

His control is staggering, he's totally at one with the guitar.
Opening to the 20th Century Fox theme at 3:10 anyone?
HAHAHAAAHAHAHHAHAHAHA I PISSED MYSELF HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It's intentional
At 4:11, he continues to play exactly that
ua-cam.com/video/TuO3sKCcZbE/v-deo.html
3:10 haha, it sounds like 20th century fox :D
Yeah, I bet he was thinking it too!
Yeah, it was definitely on purpose :)
Of course it was on purpose, he always does that
Is it bad that I thought of the Doors song with that same title?
Matt Podjeski I can actually only think of the doors song, what else is this phrase supposed to mean?
"It's one more, innit?"
I love this guy so much!
I think it's 11/4 time signature!
2:03 greatest Spinal Tap micro-reference ever.
:D
"It's one more..."
Hm may not be a reference
"...innit?"
Yep that's a reference
Haha I'm glad someone else caught that.
the funk is strong with young Govan
He's such an amazing teacher.
Everytime i pick my guitar and watch a Guthrie lesson, I just hide the thing away and cry myself to sleep.
I go to the corner with my blankie and just shake.

+HUBA BUBA Not true, studies have shown that there is some nature, it's not all nurture.
Then try learning to be as good of a song writer as Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, or Frederick Chopin.
"Let's do some normal playing with the pick"
Anyway must say I've never heard a better guitarist than Guthrie.
one name : Jason Becker
Saucisse Prod Guthrie could easily play Jason Becker stuff!
I can play it myself. But guthrie would never compose melodies and use sweeping as good as jason does. Guthrie and Jason are my gods, but jason was better than guthrie because he was younger and mastered all guitar techniques before everyone then

BooBobly He does have an amazing ear, so it's really no surprise! Still a great accomplishment and nonetheless, he rocks!
I am absolutely amazed that anyone could press the "vote down" button when confronted with an amazing ability like Guthrie's.
Brett Garsed why I guess for some it's too much :-) You're allright as well by the way ;-)

Holy shit it's Brett Garsed!!
How did I miss this?? We want more bedroom guitar lessons, these are the best!
I am SO glad Steven Wilson got ahold of this guy.

Outstanding lesson! Thank you for taking the time to explain this and break it down by providing a useful exercise. Kudos!!
I can't even pick as fast as he strums
very nice approach and well explained.
Superb, fabulous and inspirational - true wizard!
I just learned about Govans existance and I think he is something special in the brotherhood of guitarists.
Awesome playing! Practice makes perfect!

Gowan is such a great teacher and player!
I have never heard anyone articulate or explain guitar so well.

Fookin' fast right hand, it's a blur during those 32nd notes. Love to hear him play some distorted thrashy stuff with that kind of speed.

Guthrie Govan is a cyborg created by a race of super-intelligent guitar-like creatures from another dimension.
that is amazing his RH movement is so fast it's blurred
that playing at 4:12 as good as anything - we need that in a hit song!
Guthrie's playing never fails to impress me
that funky playing at the end tho
