  • My old motor was acting funky so I did some testing and decided to swap it out with another motor! Check out this in depth swap video to get my car back out on the track!

      Not a whole lot of repairs being done. Other than a couple minor bang ups the cars haven’t really seen much damage or failures beyond people doing dumb stuff like running them without oil or hammering on it right away without warming it up.

    So I'm interested to know what the compression numbers are on the new/used motor? First, the same way you did it on the original motor. Then having the "throttle blades" open.

    • @conquercustom
      @conquercustom  2 роки тому +1

      Dunno, I’ll give it a look. 220psi according to the seller 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @BBowerr
    @BBowerr 2 роки тому +1

    Quick note from watching. Your compression test results even on a healthy motor would still show under Suzuki's spec due to not having the throttle blades open during the test. The restriction of having the throttle blades closed will lower overall compressions results significantly.

      Interesting 🤔 very good to know. Even still, the head is coming off and everything will get checked out.

      I did a test again without the throttle bodies installed. No change. I don’t see how the throttle blades being closed would change anything. If they didn’t allow air in then how would the bike idle 🤔

    How are you doing the lift setup? It seems to be QuickJacks (which I have a set of) and was hoping that I could get them to work with my car (coming in less than a month).
    One other thing... Check the coolant cap, I know they have had some issues with the selection of the cap which has caused leaking too.

    • @conquercustom
      @conquercustom  2 роки тому

      Yup, that’s a set of quick jacks. Absolute must to have around the shop. A little heavy for the track but they work fantastic for bigger maintenance.
      I went through all kinds of caps. I tried everything from 18 up to 50 psi! Definitely wasn’t the cap. There is compression making it’s way out of the cylinders.

    • @conquercustom
      @conquercustom  2 роки тому

      You can’t race in the spec series without a factory sealed engine. You can send motors to them to be factory sealed but that’s in the case of them rebuilding or inspecting them.

    What's the difference between the gsx-s and the gsx-r? Only asking cause I'm wondering why they don't use the gsx-r

    • @conquercustom
      @conquercustom  Рік тому

      Pretty big difference actually, 50hp difference, better internal parts, and higher rev limit. The reason they didn’t use the Gsxr is to keep costs down. The Gsxr is much more expensive and since Suzuki won’t sell drivetrains they have to buy complete bikes.

    Hmm. Was contemplating one of these till I drove a new one which a friend owns. It had some issues from lap one. Leaking brake lines..shift issues..and some other things that should not be happening..on a new track toy. Seeing the difficulty in removing that power unit makes this car come off my radar. 3k miles and it needs an engine? I like wrenching..but prefer to drive a LOT more. Best of luck with yours and the series.

    • @conquercustom
      @conquercustom  2 роки тому +2

      Obviously the choice is yours but you won’t find anything close to it performance or price wise. You can spend twice as much and experience the same problems with their competitors. But try getting those companies on the phone and getting them to fix things promptly. I made this video so people following me can do the work easier.
      I drove 3k on an already weakened motor. These call for a rebuild every 150 hours… roughly 10-12k miles. And that’s not because the motor will break, that’s to stay at peak performance for competition. It’s a new company and yes they’ve had some issues out of the door. But they stand behind their cars 100% and bend over backwards to make their customers happy. I’d keep your mind open to them. Just my 2 pennies

Yes,more money..but not much more..and no chain,has a car drivetrain and two seats) and a few other track cars...so it's not really something I "need" but I do like the concept of the Rush, and will be driving the friends SR and helping with the wrenching on it. Expensive does not mean better. 300v is designed to last a race, no longer. It's not a good oil by any means. You got 3k and motor swap? I've got almost 50k miles on my bike, half of those on track with nitrous. Factory motor never touched, just exhaust filter and tune.

    • @conquercustom

      The motor overheated the first time out due to a cooling system failure. I drove it another 2995 miles with the failed head gasket/warped head. It kept up with the other cars pretty well still. I just swapped because I was sick of it barfing out all of its water.

    • @conquercustom

      Without the fans? Sorry but it would most certainly overheat without fans. The fan malfunction the first time it went out was the reason it overheated and warped the head.

      @@conquercustom The radiator fans block a lot of flow through the radiator. I guess it depends on how the air is ducted into the radiator. Are the fans running continuously when the car is in use?

    • @conquercustom
      @conquercustom  2 роки тому

      @@bmc3663 The fans only come on above 212 F. The car comes with NACA ducts the feed fresh air directly to the radiator but I don’t use them. I have 2 vents on top of the body that direct fresh air in. But bottom line… look at all production vehicles and race vehicles, they have shrouded fans on radiators to get 100% coverage of air movement over the cooling fins. Unshrouded fans get about 40-50% coverage. Running with no fans would rely solely on airflow through the body which this design doesn’t allow for.

    • @bmc3663
      @bmc3663 2 роки тому +1

      @@conquercustom I see. The vast majority of race cars do not use fans, but sealed radiator ducts so all the air flows through the radiator. In that scenario fans do block flow through the radiator when they are not running. Of course that means you can't sit in the car idling after being on track as there is no through flow without fans. I can see when you don't have a sealed duct that fans would be required.

    • @conquercustom
      @conquercustom  2 роки тому

      Not a fan, I’ve used their stuff in street cars. Though it has a high boiling point it doesn’t help keep things cooler and it’s also not allowed on the race track. If the car pukes evans all over the track it’ll cause crashes and require clean up. I use Motul or VP racing race ready coolants. Track approved and lower temps.
