you guys are so lucky to be in each other's lives. so many kids grow up in less than great situations, with parents who are indifferent at best. and so many people have children who show no interest in their parents hobbies. and then there's you guys who just seem to be living the dream of being supported by chosen family
Sir you absolutely hooked up the right people with those parts. Couldn't ask for a nicer experience thanks for letting them film it too. You gave them a screaming deal the reason I know I've got a 66 Malibu a 66 300 deluxe and a 67 300 deluxe both devices are runner drivers but I am trying to put the Malibu together finding these parts especially OEM is hard and I know I am an admin for 66-72 restoration projects on FB and I still haven't found some of the parts I truly need. I know a lot of the members would gladly purchase whatever you have did you want to get rid of. I personally have been following the Chevelle build on HH Wheels and really appreciate the car they are building.
Y'all, WHAT?! Not only one heck of a score on the 356, but the Chevelle parts on the way home?!! Talk about an adventure of DREAMS! I cant wait to see whats next!!
I just saw myself in James right at the beginning when he looked at the ad...I'm indecisive as hell with small things in life, but when something significant comes in front of me that makes my heart skip a beat, it's the easiest 1,000 percent YES (or NO) decision ever, and my face is usually expressionless like his was. It's like there's so much positive overload going on inside that you forget to even display a reaction
I think I’d rather have a real thing than a kit car 356, but I like that you’re excited about it! Congratulations. Can’t wait to see what you do with it
Congrats, your hard work has paid off. Many people have their dream rides never realized, and you scored yours. The Chevelle is the dream for me, great deal on those parts.
Happy 4 u! Def would have done the trade for the thing ONLY.. CMC as far as kit cars go have thick fiberglass so yr ahead.of the game with body and paint.. KIT CARS can be GREAT!!! Think u guys might have over estimated that ones value tho... But here nor ther now.. Congrats!!!!!
Yeah I totally agree the thing for the 356 was the fair deal here. But trading both the oval window and the thing was a bit ambitious. The seller made out better on this deal in my opinion. I get a very well done speedster kit can go in the high $40k range. But this 356 kit is far from that and needs a lot of work.
I’m excited for you all, that’s gonna be a great project. I’m 65 and I still get that way whenever I score an old bug or buggy although my wife not as much but she supports me. I’ll be looking forward to more of your adventures. 🙂👍
Congratulations on your 356! My great grandma had one and I always heard stories from my grandma about the car. Unfortunately, we don't own the car anymore, but I can't wait to see the restoration series on it!!!!
This was one of the coolest episodes not only did you get this beautiful bucket list car from a realy cool couple but you got so many good parts off those chevelles. He 2as a really cool guy to sell everything at a fair price you had some amazing luck with both of these transactions. Truly in love with the Chevelle build I can't wait to see both of these at a show in the future. Keep up the amazing content and hard work... Facebook marketplace for the win!
After you put new floors in it you might want to try blue interior with the white that would look pretty cool and I don't think there's a lot of them that were originally out there
I've driven a beautifully fully restored 356 coupe. The coolest car I've ever driven. Not exactly the best car to drive but it was very, very cool. I'm excited to see what you do with this one.
I'm a Chevy-Corvette guy, Yet when the 1st oil crisis hit I sold my 12 2nd Chevelle and went out and boguht a Porsche 911. I don't know if your speech tree is an intermechanica, or not, But it looks to be in great shape and I bet you're gonna have a lot of fun with it. good luck Kevin T. in Oregon. I'll be watching your progress.
The first diecast car I had as a kid that was actually big enough to fit my G.I. Joes was a black 50's drop-top Speedster, this brought back those memories, lol. What an awesome opportunity, and epic project. So happy for you!
It was so crazy seeing this video pop up. I saw this car come up and i was like you. I can't have project in my life right now 😢 I'm so close to finish on my last project. Have fun I'll be following your journey.
Caroline, I would go strictly stock, them cars are beautiful! Especially with the steely wheels and chrome center caps.congrats. Get to wrenching! Can’t wait.
A real 356! So stoked to see mere mortals getting one. And a Speedster? Holy cow. Last 356 I saw on the street was a coupe, and that had to be 15yrs ago. Y'all have fun!! The Chevelle stuff was cool, too. I may be a 'sportscar guy", but I'm still an American, dammit! 😆Love seeing car people just being car people. BTW: The red pegasus on on Dean's car is the old Mobil oil/gas logo, IIRC. Even as late as the early 90s, when I was racing as an amateur in SCCA, I'd throw on stickers from the products I liked, even though there wasn't any sponsorship money behind it.
It’s clearly not a real speedster. A authentic 50’s speedster is worth over a quarter of a million dollars these days. Not trying to be a jerk but they showed the fiberglass floor pans. Michael also explained the history of CMC whom produced these quality 356 replicas. CMC was sued due to their poor customer service. A well done 356 kit can go for good money but this project is far from that. In my opinion the seller got the better end of the deal getting a oval window bug and the thing. The running and driving thing for the 356 kit project is more than fair. But she’s happy and all that’s matters.
So stoked about this!! This gives me hope about maybe finding my '76 Starsky and Hutch Ford Gran Torino someday!! Congratulations Caroline!! You more than deserve this 🤘😎🙌❤ slot mags would look legendary though!!
The VW guy got the better end of this deal 2 real VW’s or a fake Porsche- I would have kept the VW’s With that said, will be interesting to see what you do with the plastic speedster
Yeah I totally agree. I could see trading either the oval or the thing but not both. He definitely got the better end of the deal. But if she’s happy that’s all that matters.
Interior is obvious, there are only three interiors for a white 356. Saddle Tan, if you want to go classy. Red if you want to go sporty. Black with checker inserts, if you want to go dapper.
In my opinion, You should keep the narrow 5 lug pattern, In 1973, After the first oil shortage, I traded my 12 second 1965 Malibu super sport for my 1st Porsche 911. The car stuck like glue to the road, and the all-wheel disc brakes stopped better than anything I'd ever driven, including any of my father's first 5 Corvettes. I highly recommend you seriously consider keeping the narrow 5 lugs with discs as I think you'll find nothing will brake better. Regardless of your choice I'm enjoying following you and your father on the web, keep having fun, I find two very entertaining. Thank, Kevin T. In Oregon
Can already invisoin one of those Hawaiian dancing dolls on the dash board wind blowing past your ears with the dack dack dack motor sound crusing on a summer days ❤
Thanks for the great video while the guy with the Chevelle parts that's like old school prices man I love it I can't put cars anymore but I really enjoy your channel you're really scared big with the Speedster That's a once in a lifetime dealHave a great day
Just when I thought the evening was a bit flat, my favourite little family posts a video. Great find! Edit: I finished watching, and of course you do you, but have you considered giving this a full restoration? It's definitely a car deserving of the full treatment, but I'm curious to know your opinion.
As a very proud owner of my own little stable of P-cars, ( currently 7 ) my 356 is my “I made it moment “ Enjoy in Good health and please do it justice, its a very special car
As a very rich black man in California a little bit older why can't I find me a person like Caroline to be in my life 🤔 I just think she's amazing and she knows how to work on cars too man I guess I still have to keep looking🎉🎉🎉🎉
So, is this a real 356 or a kit car? If it's a kit car then I would not have given up anything else other than the Thing! It's the difference of over $100K in value as a restored car. I realize it's iconic and a passion but still. I can definitely see Caroline cruising this around in the FLA sunshine when it's done. It's gonna be quite a project!
I know it doesn't compare to your car but I have owned many cars and wrenched on Them all but I have a 07 Toyota Corolla and She is White and Her Name is Pearl No it's not Rare or going to win many races 😂 but something about it is so much fun to drive and take corners with Veronica did come to mind, I am so happy 😊 for you.
you guys are so lucky to be in each other's lives. so many kids grow up in less than great situations, with parents who are indifferent at best. and so many people have children who show no interest in their parents hobbies. and then there's you guys who just seem to be living the dream of being supported by chosen family
Congratulations Caroline on Scoring one of Your Dream Cars😊❤
dont rush it, do the floors first.
Awesome , thanks for buying the parts.
Give Bubby pets for us!

@@VicSwanby I do still have some extra parts, and the parts car is still here.
you sir are a prince. Be safe.

I can HEAR your grin!!!!!!
I know, right?😂
I think I’d rather have a real thing than a kit car 356, but I like that you’re excited about it! Congratulations. Can’t wait to see what you do with it
Appreciate the feedback, but I’m in love with this project! We are going to buy another thing soon!
Congrats, your hard work has paid off. Many people have their dream rides never realized, and you scored yours. The Chevelle is the dream for me, great deal on those parts.
Appreciate the kind words! I love the Chevelle too!
Congrats Caroline!!! I’m so glad you ended up with the 356.
To think I’ll still see the oval and thing is awesome. The community is so bad ass.
I say dark red interior, keep the car white, flat 6 and 5 speed manual and convert to a 5 lug
Caroline, I am so happy for you. Seeing you excitement is so great. Can't wait to see you bring it back.😁
Awesome happiness is very important in one's life. Keep on wrenching and take care.
Happy 4 u!

Congrats! I remember feeling the same way, it was 1985 and the car was a 1970 GTO with the 455 in pieces in the trunk. (Yup, a factory 455 car)👍
When I was a kid teenager I helped my dad’s boss. Build a kit car like that. It was so much fun. Congratulations.
Love the 356 very cool. Congratulations

That wasn't a pegasus on James Taylor's speedster, That was the mobile oil flying 'A' As they were known throughout the 50s and early 60s.
Sorry I'm not James Taylor, James Dean
That's beautiful work on the floors first that's awesome I would have done that trade in 5 minutes myself
Yeah, it was a tough decision, but I'm glad I made it!
Hell yaaaahs!! Love these little german cars, I could tell even from the blurry thumbnail! 😊 Can't wait to see what you do with it, RC!

What an Awesome find a trade Caroline congratulations
Loved watching your reaction to seeing your Dream Car become a reality. Veronica should be her name! 👌😉😍
Name her "Monica". Classy Italian name for a classy German car. Irony? ) You deserve it, girl. So happy for you!

What a cool ride! In the early seventies had a teacher that had one good old Karmann Ghia
Cool car! Definitely get it on wide-5s
I don’t have passion for cars, but I love them. I like working on them.
Congratulations on your 356 it’s beautiful
Thank you, we are excited about it!
I love everything about this episode.
Dark red interior. Distressed leather maybe.

Yep. Agreed! Total dream car.
The only other car that I might swap for that is the Mercedes SL 190, but maybe not, that is a CLASSIC! Woo-Hoo!
This is awesome. One of my dream cars as well. You gotta do a wide 5 conversion though. EDIT: posted before I saw the whole video haha

What a great deal on those car parts. People down here in the south wants top dollar. Y'all scored big.
Good job fantastic find always love the 356
It’s really funny that James suggested calling her Charlotte, because she drove a 1958 356 in the movie!
