I love your video. You hit the number 1 problem amateurs have, which is once you take the part out, you forget how it goes when you put it back. I like how you explain to leave everything intact on the floor to check as you match. Wish I'd watched your video before I let my kid work on my brakes. After a couple years I heard banging and thought it was a shock. Disassembled the brakes and the adjuster was smashed sitting at the bottom of the drum along with the springs. Thank God I didn't ignore it and will be checking your video as I reassemble to make sure I do it right. Keep it up man!

Great video. I’m so glad you posted this video. I was just replacing my drums. My 04 Nissan Frontier 2.4 liter has the reverse hook springs. My vehicle calls for 2 different size shoes. Mine shoes were BB 574. My Emergency brake cable also broke on the passenger side. The cable rubbed on my gas tank so much, it broke off at drum. Easy replacement on this one. After installation it barely engages. He ordered / installed new cable set ($450 !) but has same issue. Hi, Congratulations on this excellent video. this is was exactly the video I was looking for. I helped me to replace the shoes on my Nissan Sentra 2018.
I have a question: How do you adjust the adjuster after the drum is already installed? I could not find any hole in the back to stick a tool to adjust it.
Also, when I adjusted the drum adjusters, I may have adjusted them too much. I adjusted them with the drums out and it was tight to slide the drum in. I had to use force to slide them in (hand force, not tools). After the drum was in I could not spin the drum with my hand. it was tight. But with the wheels mounted, I can spin the wheel but I have to use a bit force. Is this Ok or should I loosen up the adjuster a bit? Do you think it loosen up once the new shoes adapt to the grooves in the drum. (BTW. I put new shoes but used the same drum because it was in good shape).
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Frank

Gret video, you didn't miss anything. Wish I put the big spring on the top on the way you did. Lots of swear words with that one. I also hate the adjuster nissan used.
Curious question. I have the same car and did this about 3 months ago. Ever since my handbrake has been trash. I adjusted it as far as it can go to try and get it to hold the car, but still nothing. It barely provides resistance. I have to park in gear.
I took the drum off and had my fiancee pull the handbrake and was surprised by how little everything moved.
I'm thinking stretched cables, but it worked just fine before I changed the shoes which were almost down to the metal.
P.s. the brakes themselves are tight and work very well. It's just the handbrake.

It is Dire the E brake cable is reset into its guide slot in backing plate. I'd bet yours isn't. It can come out of place when removing cable from shoe. You must pull hard on wire spring to seat it in place.

Sometimes it makes me uncomfortable and scary to watch a mechanic who does not know what he is doing or does not do the job properly. Normally a good mechanic always keeps track of the direction, placement, side of the parts that he takes off. Fumbling later will have a chance to a wrong assembly and with cars, especially with brakes and stuff, could cost the driver dearly.
