- Customer tried to have a go himself at dumping the pressure from his boiler by pulling the PRV. Safe to say it wasn't a good idea!

That first job-I used to fit smart meters, those utilita meters are renowned for shutting off, not sure why they do it but I do know they are remotely disabled if the customer changes supplier-the idea being the new supplier changes the meter and utilta get theirs back!

Hi I work in social housing , when I stated I use to strip halve the boiler down before checking the gas meter , and then finding out gas meter locked out or ran out of credit, now this is the first thing I check on lock out gas boiler. 😂😂

Fitted lots of meters before I got into breakdowns. All smart meters are capable of locking out as they all have shut off valves inside. They can all be used as prepayment and set up that way remotely. Sometimes you can open them by following onscreen instructions 'hold a for gas 'ect. Sometimes there's nothing you can do and they just need replacing.

How did the meter lock out if u had your gauge on the test nipple on meter with gas reading on your u gauge? 35 years as a gas engineer never had a meter lock up.

angry man behind you doesnt like bills. and he'd been playing about,. probably goggled it. highly educated at a guess.
i dont "do" meters but it can be a slight knock to the meter that locks it out. basically it will lock out if it thinks people are trying not pay for gas. especially the newer ones, its how prepayment meters work. just my opinion.
Yeah I've heard that about them getting knocked and locking out, not sure if that was the case or not with this one

Not sure how the meter locked out and if by waking it somehow unlocked it. You shouldn't drain pressure from the PRV unless you're replacing it
