Love the shout out to Black Ice in Houghton! Everyone there is incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. Can't say anything bad about them or the shop, Highly recommend a trip up there!
I'm so happy you showcased Black Ice! The owner is so sweet and I was so hopeful to see the shop in the first 2 parts. Really means a lot that you put them right up front in this video and expressed the issues with the Father's Day Flood. They were in a different location when that happened and it could have easily wiped them out where they were. Your videos are great and I hope you do visit the UP! Come check out our trees and pasty shops. Can't guarantee a moose sighting...
Guild of Blades (GOB) is more like a hobby store than a full on comic shop, in my opinion. They have a lot of board games and tabletop gaming, figures, cards, dice and the like. I know they do sell comics and graphic novels there, but I've never paid that much attention to how much of their stock is specifically comics.
Seeing Black Ice was amazing! One of the best comic shops I've ever been to! I live 2 hours away now (we have a small game store that sells comics, but they aren't great) and drive up there regularly. I lived there when the flood happened and walked down to help out. This is my store.
Back to the Past used to be my favorite backissue place, they used to have that massive warehouse lined with longboxes in Livonia before they moved. I think a picture of it is still out there on google, what a dream land that was. After moving to Wixom they really shrunk down inventory to focus on those auctions. Another place I haven't seen mentioned was Sanctum Sanctorum comics, they had a place in Plymouth but recently they moved out to Jackson so you probably missed it looking on maps. They seemed to really stock a ton of the modern cover variants, some back issues and graded comics. Website seems well maintained.
That’s odd, I can’t tell if they have a retail shop. I remember going to one of their locations near Northville a few times and liking it, but now none of the locations show up on google maps. Their Facebook page shows new issues, but no address or store hours
Consider the absolute dearth of quality in new comics (that often don't sell) plus financial impediments to ordering weekly to maintain minimum $$$ requirements with distributors -- you might want to reconsider excluding shops that are choosing to opt out of those elective & costly quandaries :)
Modern Explorers rules mostly because another shop was in the same spot for YEARS and when they closed, ME stepped in to take it over, being open ever since.
I'm from the Upper Pennisula and that's the only legit one around. Most others focus on board games magic cards ect. If they have anything it's mostly new stuff and no back issues.
Wonderworld comics used to have new issues when they were in Taylor. It was the closest shop to me so I went there, but if you missed a week it was immediately marked up as a back issue so I stopped and went back to Vault of Midnight (in the original basement location) or Big Ben's. that said I'm glad Wonderworld found their new home in the old EB Games, I hope they succeed.
There’s actually another comic spot in Lapeer called Comic Explosion, pretty small spot east of the downtown area. Their hours are pretty strange too tho lol
Sad to see you not correct the error on Cashmans Comics! $25 vs $45 lifetime membership!? $45 sounds good. But $25!?! Even better! But still great to see you revisit and re-review. Excited for this Georgia video... even though I'll probably never go

Thanks for the part 3 update!

I had a lot of fun filming that wack house. I hope there's at least one weird one in the next state!
One comic shop that I grew up with is in Eaton Rapids Michigan is Mr. Dales. That’s a nice little shop. Ran by a nice old man lol

You missed at least 2 in Port Huron. One is in the Mall there, can't remember the name off the top of my head.
Glad I don't live anywhere near Michigan. I sooo wanted to buy a lot of stuff I saw that I don't need, lol! Nice job, Kurt!

Love spending my summers on Drummond island. Great local food shops on the mainland

Trip to Kevin Smith's shop in New Jersey?

One more correction. It’s Lake Or-e-on. Not Lake Or-i-on. 😄 Enjoyed the series!
your live stream is in member only chat so i have to pay to type
I don’t know why they do this but all the comics at Wolverine Comics are half off the sticker price.
maybe they priced them in late 2020 and early 2021?
MI is better than GA come on back ! LOL
A little creative criticism: Slow down your camera panning. You can't really focus on anything it's moving too fast.
