Before you tighten everything down, be sure to turn the motor two full revolutions with a socket on the crank and double-check your marks. Sometimes the tensioner will cause them to be off one or two teeth.
No not super tight, if it is lined up after two turns and keeps moving. Check the reluctor wheel on the harmonic balancer. It is held in place with rubber, when worn it will spin. Look on the back there are marks showing the relation between the balancer and reluctor. If marks are lined up but still out of time, it's the harmonic balancer.
@@travismaxwell7132 even thou we seen cam move what u didn’t notice is crank move at same time. The cam gear isnt locked in so so they will move once tensioner is released Turning engine by hand two full revolutions would have shown timing marks line up. Just did this yesterday on a ranger im working and just like video my cam-moved slightly but when i did two revolutions all marks were dead on.
Just watched your video . Just wanted to tell you outstanding job sir I'm a electrician by trade but try to do all my own work on my vehicles to but sometimes like with this timing belt I needed some advice your video did just that thank you sir please keep posting them I may need you again one day
What u do is turn motor by hand two full revolutions and check timing marks. When i did mine using this same method cam also moved but after turning by hand two full revolutions all marks were dead on. If marks don’t line up then u would need to reline timing marks again etc
Please tell me if your oil pump had any resistance in it when turning by hand. Mine does about half a free turn half resistance. Thanks man Update, it's enough resistance to have to use a wrench to turn it on around the other half turn. Thank you guys my friend
Just think, still using such primitive very primitive technology on modern cars. And they still want to charge you at the dealership a fortune. Maybe, next time we go out to buy a car, we should bring up the prehistoric technology that sits in that $65,000 vehicle.
Where they put the timing mark on the camshaft has got to be the stupidest place to put the timing mark ever in the history of vehicles you can't see the damn thing when your trying to put the belt back on so when you put the belt on you end up putting it on wrong by 1 notch one single notch and you have to take everything back off DUMBEST DESIGN EVER HELL I EVEN PUT MY OWN NOTCH ON IT AT THE 10 O'CLOCK AREA WHERE IT'S VERY EASY TO SEE
why do they all have such poor camera work wobbling around when we need a good photo hose or something is in the waywith a split second of the timing marks

What do you do if it keeps jumping time does it need to be really tight
Is this the same as the 2.3liter mine don’t have the triangle

This is hands down the best video about this by far. Not sure why it would have any dislikes.
The cam gear spun when he let the tension back on the belt. It's not in time

It's a pretty good video but you want the belt tight from the other side of the engine, then let the tensioner take up the slack from the left side

I am the one who bought the tool for this job. It is not that expensive at all and makes the installation much easier...
Same here. Tool is not expensive. Haven’t used it yet.
Used this method and it worked perfectly for me. Thanks buddy!
Thank's, looks like I'm gonna have to be doing this tomorrow
thank you bro.....u saved me 1700 bucks and that's without the tensioner 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Mini pry bar or flat head will work
I noticed that camshaft turned when you released the tention.
Do the timing marks have to be dead on?

As long as all the slack in the belt is on the tensioner side you'll be all set
be nice and very helpful to see how you removed the old belt with all the tin ware still there.
How to pull crank pulley without puller?
There is a bolt hole in behind the AC bracket that you can run a bolt into and relieve tension on the adjuster. Saves a bunch of work.
Does the 2.0 have the same timing marks or am I just blind, asking for a friend lol
I have a 1975 mustang II with 2.3L and im going to see if I can use a pry bar like that. I dont want to buy the tool which ill use 2 times max
Yeah
You will use it more than two times
You did didn't you
Did you take the harmonic balancer off???
Nice video and good information thank you
the book calls for additional 30 lb of torque on the Belt except nobody shows you how to do it
You have 2 ignition coils? I only have one.
Just be sure you use the sockets that fit...that's why it was "slippn".
Thank you. Great video.
My Shits dead on 🤘🏼 good looks
one of the best tutorial videos I've seen, thank you sooooo much
Was it a tooth out? Looks like you had the slave k on the wrong side of the cam gear😂
Thank you for the video

Brilliant!

lol maybe use as a barter tactic
Hold damn camera still
The tool is not expensive. Lookup “company 23”

I agree
Make your own mark?
nice vodeo
WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T TAKE THAT TENSIONER SPRING OFF
THIS IS ANOTHER GUY TELLING YOU HOW TO DO THINGS WRONG
what happening if you take off the spring
You sound like a robot
why do they all have such poor camera work wobbling around when we need a good photo hose or something is in the waywith a split second of the timing marks
Take the damn gloves off..
Hello cancer
I was thinkn same thing, you can't work with them on.
