Both the new action after 3 Fell Cleaves & the new action after Primal Rend have the blue aura indicating that they're off-GCDs so I don't think the burst window is gonna change much, you just gonna press some more buttons
War has probs lost its damage forward step too..
The optional toggle for the action mergers is really nice. At some point during 6.X they merged Jump and Dive to share a hotkey for Dragoon but some players complained about unintentional double weaving of the skills so they reverted it back to 2 separate buttons. Now everyone will have the option of whether they want them merged or separate.
Should put jump on the gcd?
That does seem to be the direction they're going based on the job action trailer, I just used it as an example since it was an actual example of the devs trying to squish buttons to reduce bloat but getting negative feedback from some players.

I can’t wait for the new tank in 8.0. I’m sure it’ll have a inner release-like, a fell cleave-like, a 15 second mitigation cooldown, and a gauge that requires 50 points to do a big attack!

The ability they use when you have executed 3 fell cleaves has a blue aura around you upon execution, which for non-spell attacks indicates its a oGCD while orange aura is a GCD
Same goes for super primal rend

What I took from this video is that I'm glad popular streamers should not design this game.
The thing about the 1 button combo, is that theres no fucking way SE will actually utilise that to add more complexity.
If they did, I'd be so thankful, but I don't think there's a fucking chance.

I love how they combine Delirium and Blood Weapon, which is good, to reduce the amount of oGCDs during the burst, but Salted Earth and Salt And Darkness is still there lmao I love it
They did also remove plunge which was 2 ogcds. So in total we're down three ogcds. Is this not what yall want? Why does SE and Salt and Darkness matter lol

@@zanijin550 Did they really? It looked like enhanced unmend, but instead of reducing Plunge's CD by 5s, you just press Unmend again to rush to the target.
salted earth should be an aura aoe around you even moving, that each damage pulse gives blood gauge (like it use to) for each enemy in range of it, and salt & darkness eats the blood gauge for a big heal (and still does additional damage) if used before salted durations ends. I'd prefer this as drk own short cd self heal than TBN.
What's the issue with those too spells?
As a FF VIII Fan and GNB main, I love sonic break ty very much Xeems.
As far as job design goes its such a nothing ability with no relation to the kit, its like what they turned goring blade into. A random 60 sec cooldown you press in burst because why not
Having more than 33 buttons would require me to grow and extra finger or start clicking abilities. So these action changes are fine with me.

Gunbreaker getting lionheart is exciting, it's the last of the FFVIII limit break finishers that we didn't have. Xeems, I recommend looking up FFVIII Lionheart if you haven't seen it.
I didn't notice the new AOE move because Papachin's Orogeny looks just like that 😂
Honestly I dont mind the filler combos just being made into 1 skill that changes into the next. Our hotbars are already getting bloated enough as if.

After 3 entire expansions of fuckall but streamlining and simplifying everything 8.0 had fucking better add some variety and job identity back, it's getting really old really quickly.

The funny thing about warrior is that it's back at ShB state (minus extra gauge management from upheaval). The removed fell cleaves now are the follow up combos & primal rend, basically. I don't mind, the fantasy is there and I liked spamming fell cleave in ShB.
The blood weapon change is something I've been waiting for ever since they changed it from a time duration to stacks, and removed the Skill Speed reduction when active (much older effect change).
I'm sure the new moves will change it up enough otherwise too, but still interesting to see just how much of a change they do to combat this time. Usually every expansion they significantly change combat and some jobs.
I get the mindset that making 1 button combos would allow them to add more combos and actions, but realistically it's modern ff14, they won't compensate with the additional combos because since heavensward they've never really added complexity to jobs anymore, they remove small aspects of complexity one at a time then replace them with nothing
They are huffing the same copium for more combos as the people who think, "They are adding more mitigation cause things will hit harder and require more mit." One button combos takes out that slight margin of error that could happen making it easier. They are not going to add more combos/buttons to compensate, the status quo for them is just upgrading existing buttons.
It feels like every time they make an honest improvement like this, I think "Wow, this would be great...1 or 2 expansions ago, before they dumbed down the core of all these jobs."
They should add the 1 button combos, but they aren't anyhow. People misunderstood it.

The follow up to after 3 fell cleaves is only during inner release window, not just 3 stray fell cleaves.
Does this mean I can setup the atonement combo then have it turn into the magic combo all on one button? If it turns all the "Spam this button 4 times and then spam the magic button 4 times" into "Press just press this one key when it's time for any spam combo" then we have a deal!
Man....no one talking about DRK getting some sustain and seeing Abyssal Drain still there in the job action trailer is really leaving me concerned.
so some possible openers could be
1.
tomahawk -> infuriate -> heavy swing -> maim -> storms eye -> inner release -> inner chaos -> upheaval -> onslaught -> fell cleave -> onslaught -> fell cleave -> onslaught -> fell cleave
-> MAAAN(new attack) -> primal rend -> MODE(new attack) -> infuriate -> inner chaos -> heavy swing -> maim -> storms path -> fell cleave -> infuriate -> inner chaos
if it turns out that the new attacks are OGCDs then second infuriate and inner chaos can be moved to right after MAAAN(new attack) instead

if it turns out that the new attacks are OGCDs then this part (> infuriate -> inner chaos -> onslaught) can be moved to later in the combo, maybe between the second and third fell cleave
main difference being whether you do primal rend early or late in the opener.
The MAN and MODE are both off-global unless they've made drastic changes to their visual design philosophy, so the opener won't change much at all really from where it is now.
The third new attack, CLEAVE THE GROUND is almost certainly an upgrade to overpower, because they have very similar animations, just with newer visual flair.
imagine giving warrior 2 damage dealing actions while the rest gets a handshake from a yoshi totally balanced
I love how the Axehead almost doubles in size for Primal Rend 2, its just so over the top that it fits warrior really well

I wonder if they're gonna up gauge cost for abilities or if dark is just going to get the dps increase as a treat

When I play gunbreaker during prog I sometimes spam 121212 for the heals and shields if I could set the button to 1-2 reset that would be okay with me but I don’t want to be forced to do 123 if I turn this setting on
the thingie doesnt work on combo's, it works on stuff like high jump -> mirage dive

I really wonder if the "skill after 3 fell cleave" does count inner chaos as a fell cleave and/or out of inner release fell cleaves.
If it does, it'd be sick D: (and a HUGE leap compared in dps compared to previous extention holy shit)

You have certain people on twitter malding about the truncating of certain skills for ease of use when them and their team were some of the first people to clear on WF stuff and then getting upset about it when others have it. "if you cant press your skills correctly, you dont deserve the damage."

I call the new move after Primal rend “savage Axe” kinda like the chargeblade move in MHW
4:30 Take it a step further and let us map a string of actions to one button. Put a cap of 5 or so, like the cap of 15 for macros, so we don't just map rotation to a single button, but that would be huge as an accessibility option and raising the floor of player performance to allow for more interesting dungeons.
would changing blood weapon to having it only during delirium screw up early living shadow openers? because normally it would be start with blood weapon, put up dark arts, do 123 then bring living shadow into delirium in the first 6-8 seconds of the fight
As i understood, you dont need gauge for living shadow anymore

Look for everything they have mentioned so far. I think these changes will be great. BUT can someone tell me what they are going to do with inventory space and management? I would like retainers to have more space and more space in my glam dresser. Probably more glamour plate pages.
Aion introduced button stacking quite some time ago. 1 button that you 'stacked' skills for combos.

Im also interested in how it seems like caster jobs are getting more movement, redmage with an extra combo, blackmage with moving leylines, picto with the 20 second dash, and summoner just being summoner. Also the reduced swiftcast. Kind of excited to see if the new tier is gonna be a fuck ton of movement, i hope at least
Paladin has like 4 buttons with ridiculous cooldown times. I can’t wait to stack combos, Shadowbringers teased it in one of the job quests and we never got it.
I’m lmao at Xenos opinion on action change settings because he’s like “cool they need to add that so we could have more combos” meanwhile sweatytryhard2093 or whatever his name is who literally made Yoshi P change how markers work in ff because his whole static cheated tried taking the elitist route

I agree with Xeems that merging combos would give the team the ability to add more options and be better for the game, but I don't see them giving us more combos even if they merge the 1-2-3. Not because squeenix bad or any bs like that, but because it takes so much time to develop the animations, sound effects, underlying code then you have to test and retest and retest again to make sure it all works as intended, adjust timings, etc. I don't ever see them giving the players more than roughly the 2-ish average combos we have now (depending on the job) unless they decide to do to the job system what they did to the graphics for 7.0 and partially or fully redevelop it from the ground up.
Which to be honest, I'm hoping they do. It'd be a real nice change of pace for 8.0 and beyond, and if they do go with a level squish back to 50 like some people in the community are asking for that'd be the perfect excuse to rework the entire system anyway.
I wonder how the 1 button combo feature works with abilities that could proc two different abilities. Dragoons first attack branches into two different combos.
Some abilitys probably still stack, i assume if simple chain combos, like oh you do 1 2 3 and loop, like bard. While reaper has itd 1 2, then has wither 3 or 4 so might stay separate
@@ruick78 True Thrust is the starting attack for Vorpal Thrust->Full Thrust->Fang and Claw->Wheeling Thrust.
True Thrust also is the starting attack for Disembowl->Chaos Thrust->Wheeling Thrust->Fang and Claw.
The only thing I can think of is having to choose which combo True Thrust starts and then having a second combo set that only triggers after True Thrust. This would still definitely reduce the button bloat for DRG. Though I think I might still have Wheeling and Fang as seperate buttons as they are positionals and I have them set up on my hotbar in a way to easily remind me which side of the target I need to be.
Would also reduce my line aoe spamming to one button and make it impossible for me to mess up that rotation like I commonly do 😂
well in pvp you have "combo 1" button and "combo 2" button that both start at vorpal thrust but have different progressions. but i also dont think we are getting one button combos yet, the slide was talking about just the option to split attacks that are already the same button like fell cleave and inner chaos

So basically they made Inner Chaos look like an actual upgraded Fell Cleave. Because that's what Nascent Chaos from Infuriate does. It upgrades Fell Cleave into Inner Chaos. As it looks right now, it's just an upswing instead of an actual upgraded version.
Is action merge basically ff14 combo plugin? I'm a bit out of the loop, haven't played since September last year
Think pvp action. In pvp your 123 combo is all on one button that cycles between them in order
@@infamousdestruc No it's not that. It's you being able to separate abilities that are already part of the same combo. Think Confiteor combo, you'd be able to separate Blade of Fatih, Truth, and Valor from that button and have them on separate buttons if you so wanted.

Is it bad that I'd rather Delirium become Blood Weapon than Blood Weapon become Delirium? Feel like DRK always seems to lose its coolest animations (first was Power Slash in favor of Souleater)

9:10 There's a difference between what mods will allow client-side for stuff, and what SE would have to implement to get it to work "properly" based on server-side code.
Much of the things that plugins allow via client-side-only functionality can easily be implemented by SE if they do the same stuff. But, as soon as they implement those features client-side, they lose control over much of what they can do with those features. This could have way more unintended side effects that allow other mods to do things they really don't want them to be able to do.
The saddest part for me is that PLD gauge is the same still, maybe next expac

I personally don't like the merge of delirum and blood weapon. at least on paper it seems dumb to me. maybe once I get to try it out I will change that take
I wonder how samurai will work with the action change settings, like with meikyo or whatever the skill is that lets you use 3 attacks regardless of where they go in the combo
Edit: I'll probably set the base 1, 2, 3 to auto replace and then for classes like warrior I'll have their alternative ender on the bar still, so have storms path as the self replace combo and then have storms eye off the side

I noticed that Primal Rend makes the "Combo Noise" after the first big slam, so maybe it's a 3 step combo? It would be kinda awkward considering PR can be used as a gap closer but...

NA/EU forums are just filled with parse junkies I swear. They only care if the class does damage, it doesnt matter how shit it feels to play, if it does damage that's all they care about it.
@@GhosttheassassinSJ looks like when is delirium activated it might change the 124 combo which is nice, the 30% mitigation button may or may not have class specific bonuses and the overhyped dot no longer costs blood to summon.

On the topic of combining combos into single-button pvp-style combos, I'm against it, but not for the reason that many people likely assume. My issue isn't that it's bad for the game, just that it's at best a band-aid. sinlge-button combos are not combos, they're just an illusion. Exactly what he said regarding the Attonement changes for Paladin, it's the illusion of a combo, a fake combo. Turning an existing combo into a single button would also become a fake combo. If your "combo" is just pressing the same button repeatedly, then why even have a combo anymore? Just make it a single spammable action that you use when all of your other stuff is on cd (or while waiting on resources).
And that's fine to. If you just want a filler action that you use when everything else is on cd, then that's a valid design choice as well. I mean, that's how Bard works, blast arrow is just a filler that you use when you have nothing else to try to get procs while waiting on timers. But that's not a combo, and I don't see the need to pretend like it is. IMHO the purpose of combos is specifically to avoid having spammable filler actions. I'm not saying that either is better or worse than the other. If you'd rather a spammable filler action, that's fine, if you want combos instead, that's fine. But they're different things. And it may well be that the game has evolved to a point where combos are out-dated. All of the jobs have a lot of other actions, and various resources and timers to manage, maybe combos don't contribute any meaningful complexity to the game anymore.
So, maybe you would rather have a spammable filler action, but don't want the same animation over and over again. And yeah, I can respect that. But to me, that sounds like the bigger issue is that you don't want to be using that filler action as often, you want to be pressing more interesting buttons instead. And a fake 1-button combo doesn't fix that issue, it just hides it under a coat of paint.

3:25 - limiting a Pally 123 combo to 12 for max SP regen and thus more clemencies saved me from wiping a few times when healers decided to tank the floor but otherwise I dunno.
I wonder if the super fell cleave is gonna replace inner release and have like a 30s timer like primal rend... Because as it stands, inner release isn't really a damage buff, it's a "you have buffed fell cleaves that always crit and can now vertical beyblade yippeeee". It all crits anyway. IF they added a % damage to it like no mercy... THEN it could be a bit spicy.
If you want to play a job with one button combos play fucking healer bro, I want to use my fuckin head at least a little bit.
