    I also wanted to mention that when I teach new people to throw I always recommend your yt videos as an alternate source of throwing instruction because your vids are thorough, honest and entertaining. I also recommend RT's school and Fedin😉. Thanks.

      Thanks, Lee! I love my quiver. The elastic thigh strap, Sam Browne belt, and broom, makes it perfect for walking around and throwing multiple knives. When I wear it, it reminds me of wearing a gun holster! :)

    I like your little house on the prairie. Nice big yard/throwing range. Not too many trees. Now you need to get a little dog and name him "Toto". GREAT idea using that old broom - SO smart you! So funny seeing hubby working hard watering the yard at 2:20 while you play, what a good sport. LOVE da bloopers at the end, so I guess you're only 99% perfect. 8-) Thanks for yet another great video. Hope you're enjoying life in Kansas. Best wishes!

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 років тому

      Yeah, my husband kept videobombing my video. I think he intentionally does it. :) The only problem with my backyard is the lack of trees. I'd love some shade because throwing for 2 hours in direct sunlight is draining, not to mention, getting too brown. :) Thanks, Ahnko for the comment!

    Hey Xolette, LOVE your videos. Robin hood split one arrow with another arrow. IF you were to throw a knife with a wooden handle, could you stick another knife right behind it into the handle of the first knife?

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  6 років тому

      Yes, that is possible to do. Jack Dagger, the king of fling, does it on his YT channel when he was on the History Channel . You should look it up!

  • @CidsReality
    @CidsReality 9 років тому

    Haha. Lol at the ending. I wanna get into knife throwing, I just have no where to throw yet. Gotta wait till I have my own place probably x ( I tried a bit of it with some 4-5 inch knives a while back on a target I bought and it took me only 5 mins to start making them all stick. It is so fun. Granted my throwing distance was only 3-4 yards cause of how small and light they are. Can't throw them in the place i'm renting at anymore though haha.

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 років тому

      I think spikes or bo shuriken thrown at a rubber mat target is the least damaging in a rental space and easy to throw indoors. But you're right... I didn't like throwing indoors and I think it made me worse in the competition I went to. The open space, throwing on grass, felt very weird. :) I couldn't judge my distances as well oddly enough. Anyway, good luck. If it's any consolation, I didn't get charged for the damages to dry wall, because I had spackled so well.

    Nice vid...your throws are landing harder or something, they sound good. Do you ever throw a lot with the left hand? Archery, cool are u doing compound, recurve, or long bow? Just got done watching a vid on doing your own fletching. Is that a blow gun in the corner?

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 років тому

      Funny you say that, because someone else said the same. I think it's because I place my portable sound recorder next to the target. :) I don't have a blow gun now, but I used to long ago. It was a random purchase along with a circular knife throwing target. But since I hated that blow gun, I bought throwing knives so I could use my target. Now here we are! I have a recurve bow and after I get these reviews done, I hope to get a target set up. I know if I get one now, I'll get distracted from knife throwing!

    Have you tried putting your throwing cards and senban in your quiver? You could fit like nearly 20 in there.

      Vinny V It's too skinny and too deep to easily pull them out. The throwing cards and senban shuriken do come with their own sheaths though.

    Still trying to get the hang of the no spin, unfortunately I have a tendency to power throw, constantly need to remind myself that I need to throttle back -_-

    • @mrNAISKAI1
      @mrNAISKAI1 4 роки тому

      I used to struggle with no spin, but my failure was that I did'nt throw straight, so my hand made an curve above my head. Try to throw like u would throw an baseball, straight forward. Also less power helps alot, in many ways.

  • @mrNAISKAI1
    @mrNAISKAI1 4 роки тому

    Lovin the FEDIN STYLE. Imo its easiest way to learn when your very close to a target, so you have to use your body the right way that you can get that explosive throw with minimum hand movement. Try to use your hip more, atleast it worked pretty well for me(on my latest video). And also check Danny Schaedler's throwing: hes youtube nick was something like DannyS... And ofcource Samoth Chipmah :)

    Great Video Xolette! Anyway, I was wondering, if yourself or anybody else could help me with a bad habit that I have made with no-spin knife throwing. Basically what happens, is that as I release the knife, I quickly twist my hand clockwise and it completely throws the spin off centre. Also, once it reaches the target, it lands flat lengthways. I can't seem to stop it and I was wondering if anybody could help me please. :)

    what do you think the life expectancy of your target is know that your getting some good practice in?

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 років тому

      Much longer than a vertical grain target. Usually at the end of my practices, I'd have long splinters of wood everywhere, because with vertical grain targets, eventually you split the wood and the target gets destroyed with long pieces of wood...everywhere. With my end grain target, there is no mess at all, since the wood is unlikely to splinter off because the grain is facing toward you. Think of throwing into a broom with the broom bristles facing toward you. The knife would just slide between the bristles rather than cutting them off. And because I soak the target before each practice, the wood isn't dry and brittle, but soft and malleable. What is getting destroyed on my target are the side planks. I'll probably have to replace those in several months.

    Is there a certain type of wood that makes better targets?

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 років тому

      Yes, soft woods, like pine, cedar, douglass. I just go for the cheapest wood... if you can get scraps, even better. :) If you buy hard woods, you could get some dangerous ricochets and it'll be difficult to stick your knife int he target.

    Since you like old weapons so much, have you ever heard of something called the Flying Guillitine? Some people made a lame movie about the shaolin weapon, but little is known about it. I looked it up on You Tube and someone made a model of what they think the weapon looked like. Look it up, someone had to be really sick in the head to think up such a device.Please give me a shout out if you read my post. thanks.

    ive lost all my knives, i think if i ever get some more i will spray paint them all bright pink. you will find it more difficult to aim with a rotational technique, horizontally anyways.

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 років тому

      It also helps to spray paint just the handles to help you see what part of the knife is hitting the target so you can tell whether to move forward or backward. (Flying Steel can also do an orange powder coat finish for just that reason.) I lost some knives in my yard as well and the metal detector works great in locating them. ua-cam.com/video/paircJ0k5mU/v-deo.html

    What are you using to hang your weapons?

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 років тому

      Robert Dobalina A variety of hooks. The best and easiest kind to install are the hooks that have a screw end on them. I have some hooks that require two screws. Although, more expensive, they're necessary for anything that is large in width like the swords I have at the top My backdrop actually took me hours to put up. It's like a puzzle...with some math involved. Thanks for asking!

    Kansas, it removed virtually all laws restricting bladed weapon ownership and carry two years ago and went to permit-free concealed carry for guns a few days ago. Perhaps you can liven-up its staidness by walking around with that big-ass kydex magazine stuffed with throwing knives. It'd be a conversation starter.

    • @Xolette
      @Xolette  9 років тому

      Haha, funny you say that. I smelled aa lot of smoke near my house yesterday when throwing in my yard-- so I walked down the street with 6 knives in my quiver, and saw this huge fire across the way. It's been contained, but I hoped the cars passing by wouldn't notice what was strapped to my leg. :)

      Rob Bentley You know, LoneStarArcher had something similar for his arrow quiver and all he did was stuff...what looked like a rag in his quiver to get his arrows to stop shaking around. And then someone mentioned just lining his quiver in fur. Maybe that might be a more... elegant option? :) Sorry for the late reply!
