Thanks for watching!
I'm really liking the direction "smaller" trucks are going. The competition in this segment is solid now with a lot of good options. This is the best looking truck Nissan has ever made IMO its stylish but still looks fairly rugged. I also like that the roll bar look is coming back.
They are getting very expensive as a result, however.
If only the price tags were getting smaller to match. I guess the price tags were always ridiculous but the OTD price included heavy discounts, so looking at historical MSRPs doesn’t really tell the whole story on how expensive they got.
@@JTube571 The frontier is decently priced tho
yeah i do not like how expensive they are becoming.
My only complaint about this truck is it's SUV level ground clearance. It's too low to the ground for a truck.
I bought a 23 SV w/premium a few weeks ago, traded in a 2018 Tacoma. The Frontier is so pleasant to drive. It's not a cutting-edge design but everything is laid out so well and just makes sense. It feels very familiar with just enough modern upgrades.
@@rawdawgy89Tacoma is so rough and unrefined. I was shocked when I drove it. People buy for the looks mostly. Well now the Frontier looks even better
Any problems happened?
@@rawdawgy89why you hate it?
@@michaelbury1941I’ve been a Toyota fan for years. I drove a Tacoma and hated it . Couldn’t see what the hype was about
I purchased a 2024 pro4x , leather, sun roof all the bells and whistles in Red Alert . I absolutely love it! Excellent truck in every way !
I have the 23 SV 4x4. I am in absolute love. I get anywhere from 23-27 MPG on the highway. I just want the aftermarket for this truck to flesh out so I can mod her to my liking. Great review!
so how fast are you going to get 70mpg?
I want the Sv also. I had a 1989,1993,2005 Love ❤️ Nissan trucks! I had a tonneau cover on the 2005 Frontier I was getting 25mpgs easy! if they would get rid of athenaol in gas -corn- cars would get better mpgs
@@brad4527 I drive about 25 miles one way to work at about 60-65 mph with a tonneau cover
You do not get 27mpg. No way . Computer must not be accurate
I get 21 mpg freeway in my 23 Titan
You are not getting 27mpg. You are getting 19-22 at best. Do the math yourself and you’ll see that computer is not accurate.
I got a loaded Pro4X about 3 weeks ago…love everything about it, especially the price when compared to the new Taco. It has everything for 10k less and it looks way better!
It got so quiet when you closed the door. That's what impressed me the most when I test drove one a few months ago.
KEEP IT ANALOGUE! Fantastic truck from Nissan with all the others going tech crazy.
I have 2017 Nissan pro4x never had any issues very good truck .
Whoa! I'm not a Nissan guy, but this truck is absolutely gorgeous, and definitely outshines the Tacoma exterior and interior wise. This actually looks like a 40k truck unlike the simple looking Tacoma
I was about to pull the trigger on a Jeep Gladiator. Then I thought, "why do I need that much capability when I won't use it 95% of the time?" I do off road a lot to go to my favorite hiking trail or fishing spot. But, I can't see myself rock crawling or doing anything extreme. I should go look at the 2024 Nissan Frontier!
Love this truck and I’ll take a naturally aspirated V6 any day especially over a Turbo charged 4 banger!
Amen to that! Just drove the new Colorado and I thought it was pretty terrible overall. Need to drive this one.
Lol turbo 4 bangers have come a long way and many are better than naturally aspirating v6s. With that being said, the US doesn't seem to get the good 4 bangers like the rest of the world does so I guess your sample size is small to judge from.
@@anthonyramdin1037 I just drove the Nissan Frontier Pro 4X V6 and I would take it any day of the week over the Colorado/Canyon trucks. And I am a GM guy!
Just drove the Gladiator Willy’s package and a new 23 Tacoma SR5 4x4 doublecab. The Gladiator was just too loud at highway speeds and the seats had no real adjustments. The Tacoma probably had the best suspension ride wise, good steering and brakes. Horrible acceleration power from a V6. It couldn’t get out of its own way. It didn’t make any power until about 3700 rpms.
@@anthonyramdin1037turbo 4 bangers are good engines but there’s a few big downfalls to the turbo that are a no go for me.
1. Longevity.
2. Turbo heat soak.
Just wanna say your videos are so cool i love this channel
Not in the car market to get a new car, cannot afford a new whip rn. Just love cars and end my day with topher videos. Weird but I fall asleep to these videos everyday. Very soothing.
Same here 😅
Oddly enough, I fall asleep to them too
6:03.. removable and yet every reviewer I saw who tested this off road complained that the steps got in the way of ground clearance and didn't take the 5 minutes to remove them!
🤦♂️
A simple, good looking, time tested
(the most of the fundamental stuff is old), utility and offroad truck with everything you need and nothing you dont. Will be on the road long after the Americans are in the scrap yard and is significantly cheaper than the equivalent Tacoma.
Now bring back the Xterra based on this formula.
I’m kind of surprised that Nissan hasn’t brought back the xterra.
Nissan does a solid job with the Frontier, love my PRO4X, have the last gen, the truck race is about to get interesting with all of the new gens on the way. Hope Nissan brings back the 6 speed, Toyota announced they are keeping it for the next gen Tacoma.
Agreed!
Love my previous gen six speed. After watching all these acceleration test where vehicles with less power out accelerate and out tow, makes me wonder how much fun that high revving engine would be with a manual.
I think they've got the transmission set very soft, and neutering the power output of it.
Yeah it's a solid truck! No doubt about that! Nissan Frontier is way more solid than Toyota Tacoma. But Frontier is friggin heavy! 6,000lbs curb weight?! Seriously!!! DMV will classify that as Commercial Vehicle even though it is 4 wheels only for the owners of The new generation of Nissan Frontier take a look at your DMV registration!!! how much is your Vehicle Registration Renewal cost you??? While it's predecessor the 2nd Gen Frontier that uses 4.0L V6 VQ-40 engine only weighs at 4900lbs
Where the hell did the additional 1,100lbs came from?? Did Nissan Re-created a New Traditional Fully Boxed steel frame for the new 3rd generation Frontier???
@@barilles7510 Nissans official weight of the pro4x std trim level and wheels is 4716.
It's prob pretty close to that as my 06 2wd crew cab short bed weighed 4730 with me in it last weekend at landfill scale.
I weigh 181, and had 1/4 tank of fuel.
It is a pig for sure. I've got a new pro4x and you can feel it driving it compared to my old frontier.
The next day off I'm going weigh it also just for giggles.
Really like the truck but the fuel economy of it is horrid (same as the new Tundra I drive for work)
I think that heft may be reason for the crappy mileage, as on paper the engine should be really efficient.
@@deweysturgill6220 that's what I'm thinking, where the hell did the additional 1500lbs came from? The new generation of Frontier is Heavy. It's a Pig! 310hp and 281lbs/ft is not enough
How heavy is the new 9 speed automatic transmission weighs versus the old 5 speed automatic transmission from the old frontier??? Because 6,000lbs is in between the midsize and full-size half ton trucks. 6,000lbs that's heavy and your truck is empty you're not even towing YET.
@@barilles7510Agreed!
I don't know for sure, but my 06 is close to nissan specs. With all the engine work I've done to it it is a riot to drive with the six speed and gets good mileage if I don't drive it like an idiot.
I expected my new one to be that and more. It's not though.
I've seen several comparison test where trucks with 30-40less hp trounce it in a drag race and pulling a load over timed distance.
The truck pulls really hard in the upper rpm ranges as all the vq/vk engines do, but it feels like it is pulling too much weight for it's torque level til those high rpms are reached.
When I weigh it I'll reply back on this let you know for sure. It may not be the weight could be trans ratios that are off bad. I'm going to find out as I'm stuck with it for now . My gf have me singing Soprano I buy another truck or motorcycle.
Love the ride, quality interior, the sound system, and looks of it. . It feels like a bonafide work truck driving it. Built for us knuckle draggers for sure.
Seeing that this is the only v6 you can buy in a new gen mid sized truck is a huge selling point for me, it helps that it looks as nice as it does. They did a great job on the interior too.
Gladiator
I have driven the base model for work purposes before and I thought it was a very good truck that I don’t mind living with
Agree with your video !! Main points of attraction to the new Frontier: Quiet inside, mostly traditional knobs and buttons are easy to use. Availability of heated steering wheel + cloth seats. Not a Buick car ride, but a good ride of a truck that can work, haul and pull. I rate those characteristics as high priority. It’s not a huge truck nor too tall. I like it a lot, may have to pick one up soon. Around town I also wondered about just poking that TOW button for getting transmission to hold onto lower gears longer, more zippy/rippy in higher traffic areas. I drove my wife’s car today and usually I just pull over and stop to change any setting on the 11” computer screen/control center, but it was interstate and VERY windy, can’t just stop. I wanted AC changed to recirculate to not suck in all that topsoil dust. That multi-page virtual buttons system is very vexing to try to use. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience with the most recent iteration of Nissan Frontier. The bright, cheery electric blue metallic is my color choose. Especially good to walk up to after a solid week or two of heavy grey depressing clouds of November or March. Nissan’s “Red Alert” is my 2nd color choice. After someone drove straight into me at 90 degree angle at an intersection, is good to be easily seen at intersections and the like.
I searched this up hoping topher would have a review on it and find out he posted a review a day ago! Thank you topher!
Now!!! This is the only truck I can buy one.
Had a 2002 Exterra 390,000kms, Then a 2010 Frontier for 3 years. Great Truck. Now a 2013 Nissan Titan with 458,000 kms. I don't need to hear anything more about Toyota reliability. Insurance rates are more then double on a Tacoma or 4 Runner. Cost of ownership goes to Nissan for me anyway. Will be looking for a used Frontier next year.
these smaller trucks are actually considered full size utes/ pick ups here in Aus and in Asia.
The Frontier (navarra elsewhere), Ranger, Hilux and Triton all battle for the top of the sales charts.
Well as an Australian in the US I guarantee you these only midsize pickups.
@@gregorythompson5826 haha yep, seeing more and more of the full size monsters on aussie roads too these days.
I got an amazing lease deal on this truck. It’s a great truck, heavy steering, but you get used to it and learn to appreciate it. I get about 19mpg mostly highway is my only complaint.
Me too! 18 months @ $355. Good thing because I’m growing tired of it. It has nice features but is very unimpressive in a lot of ways! My mileage is not great either..Nissan screwed up not changing the chassis. This truck still feels like one I had in 2001 I think it was. As torquey as it is and with Horsepower it is an absolute slug in accelerating.
@@2fargonedaytona128 really? I find it picks up pretty well even from a dig. You have a pro4x? I get 10L/100km combined which is like 23.5mpg. Love the truck!
@@diver362 I’m glad you are enjoying it. I have been disappointed. Colorado and Ranger acceleration far better. Both to me better daily drivers
@@diver362 Pro4X with every option, yes. Just feels like the one I had back in 2001. Nissan cheaped out not redesigning the chassis in my opinion
Nissan frontier is getting more and more appealing with it's naturally aspirated V6 andevery other truck bloating in size/ price!
Just got my pro 4dx yesterday and i love it! Peppy and look awesome!
congratulations 🎉🎉🎉🎉
No more starting the car before starting to talk? That's an iconic part of your videos.
Nissan Frontier: The truck that can handle the toughest jobs and the wildest trails.
I’m leasing one tomo. The pro 4 x trim. I hate that dealerships play these stupid games, but I held out, and the called me back today with the price i wanted. I had went two previous times. These assholes even tried swiping out the car with an SV like I wouldn’t notice.
Love these trucks 🔥
The design is very slick I Love It
what a beautiful truck! The price is good for a fully loaded truck! Fun truck to offroad in that's for sure!!! Love your videos! if I need to by a truck or car I know where to look for reviews.
Is this the only truck is 2023 without a digital gauge cluster cause if so I’m buying it
This amd the all new 2024 Tacoma are both the best japanese pickup for usa.
This was a great review. Ive been eyeing this truck for a good minute. Definitely my next vehicle.
Excellent review. I’m loving this truck
I have the 2022 pro4x and love everything about the truck but I feel every bump on the road so the ride quality is as great as I hoped for but not the worse truck I've had. Also has a weird ticking noise at startup but was told that was normal. Still a great truck though
That ticking seems to be a nissan thing, my rogue does it on startup sometimes too. Something to do with the fans I beleive
PERFECT TRUCK FOR ME
My personal favorite of the midsized trucks. The gm twins were too old (before the updates along with the ranger). The Honda is comfy and whatnot, but the looks and the fit, imo are best in the frontier. The Tacoma is seating position is also just so awkward for me even with a powered seat. Also, Greetings from Monroe!
Definately a nice looking midsize truck with a V6 and a lower price point compared to others.
I am a Toyota fan and a retiree that can Tier 1 pricing and still edging to get a 24 Frontier Pro4X
Thanks for the video!
Nice, midsize will prolly need a interior redesign worth the new Tacoma just being announced. Your right about NA v6s you have to be ok with blowing them out to get there power flowing I personally don’t mind I hate for bangers even if they are turbos
65 k for the new taco , nope !
I leased one about a year ago and have gotten really attached to it. Will likely be leasing a new one.
Love the little truck gun storage under the passenger rear seat lol that’s awesome. That’s probably not the official title but that’s what I’m using it for. 😂
I just bought one and I love it I got the two wheel drive I wished I got the 4 wheel drive
first things that usually need to go into the garbage, when buying a new car, is the tires.
that truck needs some capable off road tires if it's going to venture off the paved streets
I have the previous model and couldn't be happier. unfortunately the price of this new one is insane, compared to what I paid for my PRO-4X five years ago...
I love it. Hated my 2017 tacoma, pretty ok with my 2021 Ranger, but the Pro4x is perfect for me
The interior looks really clean
I'm thinking about trading my full sized RAM for one of these. It has everything I need in a really affordable package.
I had a ram crew cab 1500 and just got a 24 pro4x. Really like the size and interior. It’s not as smooth as the ram but still very very nice. No regrets!
I would want to know the payload number for this specific truck in addition to the towing number plus if there is an option for embedded trailer brakes. Great job on the review! Love the truck and for me, the hydraulic steering and NA V-6 are big positives for improved steering feel and longevity/maintenance. I've seen a growing number of these Frontiers (mostly SVs) on my commute since this new models has released and it's a really good looking mid-size option.
I am really considering the 23 Frontier to buy in December hopefully discounted some , ty for this review any major pros or cons since this video?
If Nissan put a manual transmission option in these, I would 100% buy one.
In reference to the mpgs, who wouldn't rather have a smooth V6 that gets as good of mpgs as a 4 cyl.? The price of the GM,Ford and Toyotas doesn't reflect they are cost effective, I mean heck, some full size V8s are getting as good as the 4cyl.turbos 🤯
Check out that 4x4!
@TheToper - how tall (or short?) are you?
I just got my 2023 Nissan Frontier. I noticed at 0:10 in your video your right knee does not come up to the “arch” ahead of the shifter.
Well at 6’2” my knee comes above that arch.
The part of my knee below my knee cap keeps bouncing against that unpadded, hard center console archway.
With just over 1,800 miles on my new little truck, my leg where it touches this hard arch is tender, black-n-blue, and giving me pain.
I’m looking at options such as buying a pool noodle then cutting it to slide over that hard arch. I’ve never had this issue with any vehicle in my life.
Over this past weekend I had other family members give it a try during Mother’s Day. Seems all of us taller guys have this issue.
Be warned if you are not a midget, this truck will hurt your right knee.
Love mine so much! I will say with one exception; the transmission is stupid. Inconsistent shifts day to day. It threw an AT and Check Engine code and it needs a new Transmission Valve Body at 2,300mi.
Great video, this is a beautiful truck!!
Tiny box sucks but besides that I love this truck. Buying one I'm one week
Haven't driven the new MY24+ Tacomas, but the prior gen Tacoma doesn't hold a candle to the Frontier in terms of seating position and comfort. The Nissan has good power, good grip and rides well, if the steering was a little heavy for my taste.
I miss bench seats in trucks. To me the hip and knee room is so constrained by that center console. It seems space inefficient.
Perfect video.
an interesting tidbit, in Mexico we also have the Frontier, but it is not the real frontier. we also have the NP300, which is akin to the Hilux. so what Nissan sells as the Frontier here is actually called the NP300 Frontier. it’s the only way you can get a double cab on that platform, since the 300 is exclusively a two seat single cab. it’s also the only way to get an automatic transmission. unfortunately, the Mexican Frontier looks rather blobby, and lacks the character of the US market truck. interestingly, the NP300 Frontier only comes with a 4 cylinder petrol or diesel motor. however, Nissan Mx will also sell you the Frontier Pro-4x V6, which is this exact truck. so essentially, there are two wildly different Frontier models sold in Mexico with very little descriptions of the difference. they also sell the Pro 4x in the 4cyl NP300 model, but the interior is very plasticky and *ancient*, like all the NP300 Frontiers. at their roots, they are just double cab work trucks that Nissan sells under the Frontier name
I've been wanting a new truck for a while, but I've been waiting patiently for all the midsize redesigns to come out, and for the market to return to sanity. I'm not a sucker who's willing to pay over MSRP for an already overpriced vehicle. I think within the next year deep discounts will be available on the Frontier. The new Tacoma, on the other hand, will command top dollar for a while because Toyota will be sure to invent a supply shortage in order to boost demand and transaction prices. They've become quite good at playing that game since covid.
In any case, these are the only 2 trucks I am considering and, as much as I like the new Tacoma, I'm leaning toward buying a 2024 Pro4x for its old school simplicity, driving comfort, the durability/reliability of the V6 and the ability to get a nice discount.
The one I have driven the steering was hard on low speeds
Man I wish I could pick one of these up. But I don't want to put myself in crazy car payments.
Bought a 2023 same truck but with tonneau cover with 12k miles for 38.9k.
I love my S model King cab
They need to put the Altima vc turbo in that. Better fuel economy almost same power as this v6
I'm 6'2. Would I fit in this?
Nice small truck but it needs a built in trailer brake controller.
perfect
My wife and I just drove a Colorado Z71 (new) and couldn't wait to turn around and return it. I don't get why people even remotely say those are the "leader" in the midsize truck segment. Gross sounding engine, horrible seats, and it road rough over almost everything. I guess I need to drive one of these again.
Isnt red lining your RPMs bad for the engine and transmission?
No, it isn’t. I wouldn’t drive it around in first gear at redline, but the engine is designed to rev up to redline. Some engines have rev limiters that cut power if you try to go over redline.
I really want the new designed Nissan frontier compared to the 2024 Tacoma, which is still very beautiful and attractive truck. I am not about having a four-cylinder truck even if it’s turbo charged sometimes you just need that V6 power that feeling knowing that you’re in a truck, but everyone’s different and that’s OK too.
Does anyone have an issue with the truck having a "engine break" sensation ? When im slowing down and the car goes down to 2nd & 3rd gear, it feel like the engine is breaking? Saw someone say it needed a TCM update ? But i dont see a recall or something ...
I really want one, but the PRO-4X KC not being available in the states is a turn off for me.
so the bed liner is spray-in, but the tail gate liner/inside is plaatic... 🤔
It would of been perfect if they spelled Nissan in the front grill kind of what Toyota does looks neat.
Good Job
When are you doing the Audi s6 night drive
Maybe a week or two, trying to get rid of the winter backlog!
can anyone tell me what is the point of the sport bar? i don't get it. just looking at it, i can't figure out any purpose for it at all.
Сделай пожалуйста обзор nissan titan
Anyone going to get this or new redesign tacoma?
Sweet ride except the ancient motor. Wish they would update, then i would have considered it.
Nissan ❤
I like
17/21 and gas prices are rising. If anything, better mpg, shoulda been top priority
Box frame vs c-channel from Tacoma!
Nissan QASHQAI do it please and the X _trail
What’s that decal? If it’s from the factory like that, where do I go on the website when ordering?
The one on the rear bed exterior
That wheel gap though
Отличный грузовик. Хочется посмотреть длительный тест на внедорожье
Nissan, what have you done, I was set on another pickup truck. Now? I don't know anymore 😅
Can’t wait until he gets his hands on the 2023 Colorado ZR2.
Chevy reliability is poor .
We are taking Nissan trucks for granted. The remaining natty v6 Frontier will dominate the mid-size truck market after toyota fumbled the new turbo 4 cylinder Tacoma.
A naturally-aspirated V6 is enough reason alone to buy this truck over its turbocharged 4-banger competition.
Love my 22p4x. Wish they would add ventilated seats and head up display

1990s called - it wants it’s interior design back.
Very cool and luxurious, but by now, its looking like a 2017, interior wise
