In this video from a message delivered at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, J. Warner Wallace describes why the differences between Gospel accounts help validate them and demonstrate their reliability. What attributes of reliable eyewitness testimony, as identified in criminal investigations, can be found in the Gospel accounts related to Jesus? Why should we expect differences between reliable accounts and how does the order of testimony effect the way eyewitnesses describe an event? As believers, we need to be ready to help our skeptical friends assess the evidence as described in the book, Forensic Faith: A Homicide Detective Makes the Case for a More Reasonable, Evidential Christian Faith.
I thought on this alot. I know my teacher would say that she could tell the cheater by how exact their answers were.
Thank you for doing this video it is the best way to explain this to a "show me" person.
God bless your ministry Jim
This is very interesting but unfortunately this method of "filling in the blanks" doesn't work with who shows up to the tomb of jesus on Sunday, but te other piece is that the gospels were not written to the same group of people. They were written separately to many people, so it only help to have to most accurate full story for the churches these gospels were being delivered... finally, the holy spirit is also a witness, and is responsible for "bringing all things to your remembrance" and so there should STILL be no gaps to fill if the spirit was reminding the disciples of what was actually happened to them. Much love, one love.
It's because Jesus is love. Love is the truth. Love is the way to God. God is your heart and soul. With God anything is possible but you must believe in your heart to move that mountain.😊
Like a few other people I understand why they feel that way. We actually believed that the scriptures of the new testament were inspired God and written by inspiration of the Spirit by Holy men. When we discover that there are differences for doctrinal purposes and contradictions or sometimes prophecies that were not in the old testament, that's where we are heart broken.
I'm feeling weird because people are saying that the gospels weren't actually written by mark and Matthew and John and Luke. now idk what to believe im just very confused and I need help.

Better look at a book. - The Four Gospels at a Glance: World English Bible. I've seen other translations on the internet as well - American Standard Version (Asv) - Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition. All synoptic problems were eliminated with ease. And the puzzles are put together nicely. All questions resolve themselves. It came out late last year. A real helper for the reader. I can only recommend.
The Gospels were also written for different purposes and for diff audiences. Matthew was written to the Jews, it tells the important genealogy etc. Its "Christ the King". Mark revealed Jesus as The Servant. Luke revealed Jesus as the Perfect Man. John revealed Jesus as God. The Son of God.
Well am not sure that all witnesses used in the illustrations came saying that they were all inspired by God to give such testimonies
If that's the case then the variations in their account makes God unreliable. The gospels were not written by eye witnesses. Matt 9:9 Matthew couldn't have written like that about how he was called by Jesus
I am sure that the students of the professor differ from each other, even thoe they are in the same class.
As Wallace clearly shows; eye witness testimony alone is unreliable. Why would an all powerful God use such an unreliable way to prove one of the most extraordinary claims in all of human history; which one must accept as true to enter the kingdom of heaven?
The power of an eye witness in the court of law is undeniable!. Your words are foolish.
You might as well ask why God wouldn't show himself right now to ALL of us force us to worship him. Our lives would be pointless if we were forced to believe.
You're a doubting Thomas.
Blessed are those who believe without seeing.
The scriptures are proof enough. Seek and you shall find.
Accept as true all them as none contradict themselves as they were all inspired and dictated as God Himself wanted!
