- Fun fact: both Angela Kinsey and Jenna Fischer hid pregnancies during the filming of The Office! We put together some of the funniest ways the cast and crew hid pregnancies for Pam and Angela!
From "The Office": an American television mockumentary sitcom broadcast on NBC. Created as an adaptation by Greg Daniels of the British series of the same name, it is a mockumentary that follows the day-to-day lives of the employees of the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of Dunder Mifflin, a fictional paper supply company. The big purse hiding a pregnancy has been done so many times in shows, but this is one of the few instances where it actually fits the character's personality. Its easy to notice when an actor is pregnant during filming because the hiding is so obvious.

Not just pregnant, but almost giving birth! She had the baby not long after.
They actually shot all of her scenes earlier that week coz she was about to go into labor. She had slight contractions a few days prior and they knew they would run out of time with her. Also giving her all the comfort she needed, although in my opinion there is no comfort in working this far along.

@@tinas_hotdog_sophieI applaud her for working past contractions. It's wild that people praised Beyonce for singing on stage while pregnant. She literally stood on stage in one spot months before her due date and all of the internet called her a majestic brave queen, like working while pregnant never existed.

Angela getting the rose and saying “what am I supposed to do with this?” Is one of the greatest lines.

The way they wrote Angela’s actions to hide her actress’s real life pregnancy is amazing and suits really well!
At the dinner party when Angela clutches onto her bag on the sofa the whole time. It shows that Angela is stingy and reserved.
Then, with the proposal scene, Angela is clearly uncomfortable with the romantic public display and doesn’t want to join Andy on stage.
Everything, the way they fit Angela’s character makes sense

Yeah her not going up on stage is totally what she would have done regardless of them needing a way to hide her pregnancy! She hates having all that attention drawn to her. The writers were brilliant!

Michael meant to say "oaky aftertaste," which is the taste a food or drink leaves in your mouth after you've already swallowed.
"Afterbirth" is things like the placenta and such that come out of a woman after she gives birth.
The two words seem similar but refer to two very different things 😂

Dinner party is so ridiculous and chaotic, Angela’s hidden pregnancy is the least of anyones concern 😂

My fave part is: Angela was pregnant irl and they had to hide it. Jenna wasn't pregnant and they faked it. Then Jenna was real pregnant and they showed it while Angela was fake pregnant. Both women agree: fake pregnancy was the worst.

At 4:42 , what "bump" are they even trying to hide ? If it weren't for the captions, I wouldn't have even guessed that Angela was pregnant lol
Also the ice sculpture to “hide” it has giant hole in the middle, you can see her belly and it has no bump.
You can kind of see her bump. It's a little hard since her shirt is very loose. You can tell the rest of her body has gotten a bit bigger. But I think she was in the very early stages of pregnancy then so you wouldn't have noticed as much.
Even with small bumps they do what they can to hide them because people do notice the slight changes, and it can ruin them being able to announce it when they're ready. It's happened a ton of times where it wasn't hidden early on and the announcement and surprise was taken from the parents

This show is amazing on so many levels, its so bland in theory but so complex in every single way. I will never not like the office.
As a spaniard, that is very true. We eat dinner when we feel like it... yesterday that was at 1 am 😂 But on normal days dinner time varies from 9:30, which is still very early, to 11:30

Like I might need to get up earlier for work, so stay up later at a night out, but on the whole thats me. I dont even understand how you can eat that late at night and routinely get enough sleep, whilst also, know, going to work in the morning.
@@catlinboy actually, the real reason why we Spaniards can pull that off is that our timetable is different than the rest of the world's. Adults start working at 8-9, and the earliest college class is at 8.30, so there's at least seven hours of sleep if you want to go to bed at midnight. But also, we are used to it, and those who aren't can just eat their dinner and go to bed earlier, nobody judges them
It's so hot in the middle of the day that it makes perfect sense for Europeans in hot Latin countries.. South of France also - in trades that involve outdoor work, to work from around 5.30 am til 11.30 or so, then again from 4pm til around 8 or sundown. Only idiots would work in the heat of the day. Because sometimes actresses are pregnant and their character isn't and there's not much that can be done to hide it except hide the bump, so yeah overtime huge purses and laundry baskets kind of clue in the viewer that the actress is pregnant. The nanny made fun of it in the 1990s while using it still, because despite being unsubtle, it's effective

4:30 (I'm pretty sure it was in this episode, correct me if I'm wrong) They almost didn't did this scene because a day before Angela went to the doctor because of some pain and it turned to be early contractions 🤠 But then she was cleared to return to work as it wasn't really time do give birth yet

@@eloiserose3993 I'm guessing the scenes have to be written in advance, so that you have the time to commission the ice sculpture and get it delivered before filming the scene. If you know an actress is pregnant, you can't necessarily when it will start to show and how visible it will be, especially since for some people, you can wake up one morning with a dramatically different figure than the last (happens a lot in denial of pregnancies, but it can probably happen as well in other cases). In the end, the loose clothes probably would have been enough, but they perhaps couldn't know it for sure when they wrote the scene and they decided to be cautious.
