- I made little salt pots / containers out of scrap wood, using the Shaper Origin. These can be used to put salt, pepper, oil or sugar on the table. They have a spoon hole to keep the spoon with the container.

Welcome to my woodworking channel. I am passionate about taking the most wonderful woods mother nature created and turning them into beautiful objects of day to day use. This is not a DIY channel about teaching the woodworking craft, showing you new and nifty techniques about how to build wooden objects or anything alike. It’s about celebrating nature’s beauty and providing inspiration for projects of your own.
Thanks for your support!

Great little project idea. Definitely added to the list of items to make for Christmas gifts. The ‘pots’ could actually serve many purposes as well as holding salt. Thanks for sharing 👍
Thank you Paul. Yes, agree, you can use these for many things :D
Ooops sent a little to early. Like I was saying I need to find a bottom cleaning bit with a shank long enough to give me the 1 inch depth. So far the most I can get with the one I have is .60. All the work I’ve done so far is with a 1/4 spiral bit. I’m very happy with results so far. Instead of boring a hole for the spoon, I’ve opted for a lid, and the spoon resting inside. My wife didn’t like the idea of touching the spoon part to access it for use. She also thought the spoon I purchased similar to yours was a bit big. I believe it was a porcelain egg spoon. Instead I’m using a mother of pearl style caviar spoon. I’m also thinking of making a matching sugar pot, although with a larger diameter. My favourite wood so far has to be Claro walnut. I have a location where I can buy blanks for $4 a pound. They are used for turning, but I’ve make cribbage boards with them, and now these pots. Just gorgeous grain. Once completed I’ll definitely send you pics. Thank you again for your inspiration my friend! Keep those vids coming! They are great to watch!!
That sounds wonderful! Love it how you adapted the idea and of course one needs to abide by the wishes of one’s wife 😂😂 With the bottom cleaning bit I use I can almost get to 1 inch depth, if I don’t put the entire shank in the nut, so getting to that depth should be feasible. Have fun my friend 😁
That is a clever production process for the shaper.
Thank you for your kind words, glas you liked it 😁
Thanks again...appreciate your videos!
Most welcome Mark, this is a great motivation to make more of them :D
A fabulous idea! Very nice!
Thanks Henry :D
Why didn’t you cut all the way thru on the outside cut.
Hey. Because the wood was higher than 4 cm and the bit wasn't long enough.
Hallo
Awesome. What’s the name of the song? It’s great.
Hi Nicole. The songs are listed in the bottom of the video description.
@@Woodensoul thank you.
Hi my friend! I finally completed my pots, but I’m having trouble including the pics in my post. Any suggestions?
Awesome! You can upload them to a site like google photos and share them, or drop me an email. You can find the address in my channel, in the info section
Hi Javier. The only address I see in the info section is for Instagram. I’m writing on my iPad right now, but I think I can upload in the community space with my computer.

Any new links for the extra long cutter? Great vid, I want to try something like this
Yes, thanks for letting me know. I provided some alternative links. Have fun making them :D
@@Woodensoul ordered and much appreciated 🙏🏼 keep up the awesome and so very helpful content
@@woodcraft_cz Thank you - will do, and have fun :D
Hi Javier! I had a quick question about how you placed the pot design on your material. I’m trying a slightly different iteration of the spice pot, and using the work station I am able to, as you did design and place the circles on my material no problem. I noticed that when you placed your circles on your material, after your scan, you see the pencil marks you created from the outset to precisely place your circles. When I scan my workspace appears no problem, but I do not see my material as you do. How are able to capture your workpiece on the shaper screen, and not only the workstation dominos. Do I need to pull my shaper further back off my workpiece while scanning? Doing so essentially would put it in empty space off the back of the work piece. Thank you for your help.
Hi Henry. I am so pumped to hear you are trying a similar design. Please share pictures once you are done! To answer your question: While scanning, first scan your workstation (the dominos), then move your Shaper onto the workstation and turn it in by 180 degrees. That way, the camera will face towards your workpiece, but it will still see the dominoes you have already scanned. The camera takes pictures of your workpiece, and once you finish the scan, you will see your workpiece and the pencil markings. Please let me know if it worked :D
Thank you soooo much! It worked perfectly! I tried scanning while holding the Shaper in empty space. It worked but your method was much better. So far I have produced 15 pots. Different species of wood like yours, although I’m trying to perfect a specific diameter and depth. I’ve had a little trouble with how deep to cut the outer ring. I’ve settled on a pot that is 1 inch deep, with an overall size of 1.25 inches. The inner pot diameter is 2.25 inches the outer diameter is 2.75 inches. To produce the final pot, I resaw the blank, limiting the cleanup. I have to find a bottom cleaning bit
Hello, great job !! Do you have a link or a reference for the 6.35mm diameter helical cutter used to machine 40mm deep? Not too much risk of breakage when machining at this depth? Thank you
Thank you :D Yes, for sure, I can send you a link. In what country do you live, so I send you the appropriate one. It works pretty well to cut that deep, but I highly recommend to not take more than 5mm at the time to reduce the risk of the router getting stuck.
