@meazi01 Thank you for your question. If your lower eyelid surgery was within a week, then it is possible for swelling to spread to the upper eyelids. It's best you address this question and followup with the doctor who performed your eyelid surgery.
My lower bleph experience: The first 6 months were amazing but then hollowness started creeping in at about 8 months in. A year and four months later, I now feel like I need filler to get my old self back. It's a slippery slope folks. Think twice before you get this surgery. It's not worth it in my opinion. At all. PS. My doctor is a reputable oculoplastic surgeon who swore he'd go conservative on the fat removal. I'd really rather my bags than none at all. My face doesn't have a natural frame anymore. That's why I need filler. I wonder if surgeons love this procedure cause it guarantees them even more business down the road - via injections?$?$ Think about it....
Hi BlephingTerrible, I empathize with your situation. I also believe that hollowing can be avoided during lower blepharoplasty, and my patients for lower bleph do not come back for filler application in eye area unless the condition was pre-existent before surgery. Please review this video I made about avoiding hollowing during lower blepharoplasty ua-cam.com/video/PG2vH0dVvvw/v-deo.html
Hi Dr Prasad. I’m Asian and 66 yo. I had an upper and lower subcilliary blepharoplasty a month ago. My lower lids are still pulled away from my eyeballs. One not bad and one more so. There’s still swelling and slight bruising in both eyes in the lower lids. I’m doing pressure exercises as suggested by my surgeon. He said it’ll take another couple of weeks. In your experience how long does this problem resolve itself. And what are the options if it doesn’t improve? I’m very anxious and depressed about this! Thank you for all your informative and educational videos.
Hi Elaine Seyforth, If your surgeon removed lower eyelid skin, and compromised the support structures of the lower eyelids during surgery, then pressure exercises won't be able to resolve the skin shortage, or lack of support. You can refer to these videos about it: ua-cam.com/video/VI4Z0rDO5C8/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/wT9mSBvAlno/v-deo.html
Hello Dr. Prasad, i was diagnosed with chronic blepharitis by two different doctors, i was only told to do the hot compress, i have been doing it everyday for the last 3 years, so far nothing has changed, the lower lid on left eye is the one with the worst, is is possible to have blepharoplasty done on that eye?
thanks Dr, i have question i just did lower eyelid surgery so still the skin very tick bruising also the upper eyelide swilling and very havey to open i didnt surgey the upper one just only i did the lower one. thanks again
Hi Al Min, The difference is an oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon is trained to maintain lower eyelid support structures and lower eyelid position while performing a skin pinch. It's important to understand that the finer details of lower eyelid anatomy are not part of general plastic surgery training or Board testing, but are mandatory in oculoplastic surgery. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi@@safaarafat5999, I hope you understand that I'm helping many patients, and spending a lot of time traveling will take me away from seeing them. I do see patients from all over the world every day in our practice, so you are welcome to come see us. I hope you can come see us.
Hi Nicole Slighting, Our cosmetic eyelid surgery patients normally don't need any pain medication after their procedures, so yes you won't need it. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi @johnoliverio8729, Yes, the skin pinch is a shallower incision because it is only skin being removed. The transcutaneous blepharoplasty incision cuts through the skin, and the muscle to access the fat pads. The transconjunctival method bypasses the skin, and the muscle, and makes a smaller incision in the membrane called the conjunctiva to access the fat pads. That being said, skin pinch blepharoplasty is rarely needed, as redundant lower skin is not a common issue. Under eye wrinkles should be treated non-surgically first. You can refer to this video about it - ua-cam.com/video/PXMhY90TReM/v-deo.html
Hi, No, they are different as lower eyelid skin is removed in a skin pinch blepharoplasty, and none is removed in transconjunctival blepharoplasty. I only do skin pinch procedures on occasion because in most cases, lower eyelid skin should not be excised, and can lead to a skin shortage and rounding. You can see an example of a skin pinch blepharoplasty in this video - ua-cam.com/video/AAH37kjfyK8/v-deo.html
@@AmiyaPrasadMD Thanks Dr Prasad. I will watch the video. I am asking about transcutaneous blep if it's same as skin pinch, not transconjunctival blep :)
Hi, Sorry about that. They are still not quite the same procedure, but similar. While skin is often excised (unnecessarily) with transcutaneous blepharoplasty, it isn't a requirement. Skin removal is a requirement for a skin pinch blepharoplasty. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hey doctor I had a skin pinch and my right eye turned out different :(..how could this happen to me and what would you suggest? It's been six months. I expected symetry and am going through alot of depression from this. My doctor wants to do accutight
Hi Nicole Slighting, Sorry to hear about your problem. Dear Dr.Prasad I am due to make upper and lower blefaroplasty . I have tear troughs without any fat pockets under my ....in this case what kind of lower blef is advisable?
Hi +Luna llena, If you have deep tear troughs, we don't treat this with lower blepharoplasty. What we do is treat them non-surgically with fillers for the hollowing, and platelet-rich plasma to improve the skin quality if you have any discoloration or pigmentation. I hope this helps with your treatment.
Hi D Who? sorry to hear that, but without examining your eyes, and knowing details about your surgery, I can't give you any specific recommendations. I suggest you follow up with our surgeon who knows these details. I do have a more recent video about healing after lower eyelid surgery, which may help you with some guidance - ua-cam.com/video/g71wFEdUtlM/v-deo.html
