Joseph Ramirez In U3 when Nate and Sully go to Yemen, they meet up with Elena who is wearing her wedding ring. Nate is no longer wears his, thinking he lost it when he and Elena broke up because of Nate’s lust for adventure At the end of U3, Nate loses his ring from Francis Drake. but Sully gives him back his lost wedding ring, and that’s how Nate reconciles with Elena So they married between U2 and U3 and that was not shown. We only see wedding photos in U4, but I’m not sure if those were taken before or after their initial break-up
This is my favorite version of Elena Fisher, something about her vibe had changed here, she was awesome in the first part, but this one’s like she had some personality upgrade that I can’t point my finger on. This was the beginning of her getting more awesome that continues to the next episodes.
You could really see and feel how scared Elena was after escaping Lazarevic. Jeff's death at the hands of Lazarevic really impacted her, she only calmed down after Drake made a little joke while smiling at her.
The scene in which Nate claims that he was only a 4 on a scale of 1-10 for how scared he was that Elena was going to die is one of my favorite scenes in the history of video games and might be my single favorite ending scene in any game. Just masterfully written.
Note: not criticism but observation: Naughty Dog made 2 different versions of Nate. U2 & U4 is the Bruce Straley & Neil Druckmann Bad Nate. He is intentionally created this way. He is the rebel orphan John Connor, the Josh & Sam runaway, the Ben Sanderson drunk who meets the prostitute Sera (Chloe Fraser, read Nate's journal), the Florentino Ariza who has multiple affairs with different older & younger women & keeps a journal like Nate. That's not who Nate says he is in the other two games. He never displays any hint of these things in the other games. Nate's journal in U2 says he has affairs with 3 women before his fling with Chloe Fraser in U2 in 2002 & Elena in 2006. In U2 he had flings with 9 women. he met Elena last. In U:DF Nate & Elena meet & sign a contract in 2001. after the events of U:DF when Elena was injured in the helicopter crash in U:DF, sometime later they married but became estranged because of this incident & the dangers of adventures. Nate thinks he lost his wedding ring in U3:DD, but this is not the case at the end of the story. U3:DD (2005) picks up 4 years later where U:DF (2001) leaves off not U2. U2 is too dark & militaristic to be a canon sequel to U:DF & Nate makes no sense if it is canon sequel. The character has a completely different personality from U:DF & U3:DD. Uncharted 2 & Uncharted 4 are a different personality Nate story not connected to U:DF or U3:DD story wise. They have orange or red titles, dark filters, colors, dark character personalities, Thieves or Thief in titles, militaristic, has more hypersexuality, very violent, Nate & Sully have no father-son bond, Francis Drake & his ring are not the main focus, the ring is not destroyed, Nate has a brother & daughter, Nate has commitment issues in this version of the character, he is more of a follower, passive, shorter, a drinker, defeatist at times, keeps secrets at times, allows his maps to be easily captured (Zoran), reads out map details in the presence of obvious villains (this contradicts U:DF & U3:DD), not aware of obvious dangers at times, too trusting & forgiving (U:DF &U3:DD contradiction), unsure of himself, promiscuous in past flings, cocky, stern, depressed, unkempt, uncaring at times, down on his luck, etc. All of these traits he displays here are contradictory & in conflict with U:DF & U3:DD.
