    I got chills when Rafe brought all of Nathan's achievements from the previous games. It was like a flashback remembering all the good times we all had with the franchise, all the obstacles we surpassed and all the things we lived just to be in this very moment where we make our grand finale.

    Despite his ruthlesness, I think that Rafe is by far the most sympathetic main villain in the entire series. Navarro wanted to sell a biological weapon for money, Lazarevic wanted the the power of the tree of life to take over the world, Marlowe and Talbot wanted the hallucinagenic agent from the waters of Ubar to control their enemies through fear, but Rafe wanted to find Avery's treasure because he wanted to accomplish something on his own for once in his life. Sure, he is a heartless, vindictive egomaniac, but you've got to admit that his goal seems to be the most sympathetic.

      “Last I checked,we are all a bunch of thieves, poking around where we’re not supposed to.”
      Edit:
      Yeah, looking back at it now, Rafe is clearly worse than Nate and Sam, (or at least Nate). He clearly was always a rich asshole from the beginning but it’s pretty clear at the end of the game he kind of went bonkers. He still remains the most sympathetic and (in my opinion) the best written antagonist in the series.

      Black Gear Nathan and Sam to a lesser extent clearly has morals, he, Nate, saved the world and actually care about other people and protects who they love. Clearly something that Rafe, the entitled trust fund psycho that he, is lacking.

    • @artec5451
      @artec5451 6 років тому +239

      Black Gear well really, they are. Nate and Sam dont kill people for no reason, other than self protection. Nate didnt want to fight Nadine, made Sam drop his gun before shooting her, and tried to avoid the sword fight. Back in the third game, he tried to save marlow, and in the second, he killed lazaravich to protect really, the entire world. After discovering El dorado, he was easily able to get rid of the statue, with no hesitation. Sure, they go snooping around for things, but they dont purposely kill other people for it, or even get it.

    Just after 10:00 Sam: "All I ever wanted to do... Was find this treasure with you". God I love this so much. After all the lies, deceit, selfishness etc it's revealed that all Sam wanted to do was find the treasure with his little brother. Even though we're lead to believe it's the greed and the glory getting to Sam, he tells Nate to get out while he still can cos in his eyes they finally achieved what they'd set out to do. Every time Nate showed any doubts or wanted to abandon the mission throughout the second half of the game Sam got so angry and emotional, he wanted to share the moment with Nate cos it was their mother's life's work in that journal and at the end of the day they were all each other had growing up.
    The first time I played this game I got so pissed off that the whole Alcazar thing was BS and I had resented Sam's character since but having recently come back and played it again I finally realize just how poetic Sam's arc truly was. What a masterpiece of a game in every regard.

    • @TheTolister
      @TheTolister Рік тому +4

      Yeah it is poetic. And maybe little bit tragic, Sam's arc. The whole Sam's quest that he wants Nate to come with him to Italy in the beginning, and the fact what Rafe told Nate about Sam leaving him after two years of searching and then coming to Nate, shows you that he really wanted to find Avery's treasure with Nate mainly, because of their history together. When he decides at the end to run to the cave without him, he probably knows that Nate comes after him, even Sully says: "He called your bluff." So basically he has this stupid plan, that he after two years of searching the treasure leaves the powerfull dangerous rich man Rafe, and told Nate this hard lie about Alcazar, no matter the consequences. Because he's really desperate, but he really wants Nate to go with him on this great pirate adventure.

    what i love about Rafe's character is that that one line of dialogue says it all
    "You just don't know when to give up! That's good! Don't hand it to me!...i have had everything handed to me...on a Goddamn...Silver Platter"
    That line of dialogue is indicating that rather than using his own riches, he wanted to accomplish something for himself once, He didn't want it handed to him, He wanted to find it the hard way, the way how it should, He wanted to be reconciliation for his work

Nathan has moved on to such an extent that he has had great adventures whether it be El Dorado, Shambala or Rub al khali. Rafe has stuck on Avery's treasure to the point of going mad. This is an extremely well orchestrated boss battle, but honestly, considering what he actually was, Lazarevich makes Rafe look like child's play

    • @lunarm4
      @lunarm4 6 років тому +123

      true but thats only because Lazarevich is part of the military and used to killing and doing what's necessary to get what he wants. So much so that its a normal thing to him and he remains calm at all time.
      Rafe is really just a spoiled rich brat who just wants to make a name for himself instead of simply inheriting his own riches. I'd say his villainous acts start at a simple tantrum rather than a psychotic sense that eventually runs to the extreme. the extreme state is where people class him as a psychopath. if you ask me, hes really just a rich kid in a man's body that knows how to talk proper until he loses his shit. sometimes dealing with people like that is worse than dealing with more composed villains like Lazarevich because villains like Rafe can hardly think straight and therefore tend to ignore reasoning and negotiations that could help them.
      when it really boils down to it they r two diff class of people. Lazarevich is the muscle with the army. Rafe is the guy that hires the guys like Lazarevich. thats it. Lazarevich wanted power, Rafe wanted fame. someone with power is usually someone more to fear than someone with fame. which is why Lazarevich makes Rafe look like child's play to some ppl like u. i for one think dealing with Rafe is worse cuz sometimes u might not b able to buy time for yourself by negotiating bcuz even if you have something yo bargain for, Rafe might ignore it and kill you anyway just simply because when hes in a tantrum he won't think about the benefit it could give him.

    • @sam6409
      @sam6409 6 років тому +75

      I still Consider that Rafe is the best Villian in all of the Uncharted Series!,doesn't matter if he's child's play to Lazarvich or Talbot or The first Villian from Uncharted one(forgot his name),Rafe is Jealous of Nate and wants to take him down,he wants fame!
      And this boss fight was also the best even if it was just A QTE!

    • @lunarm4
      @lunarm4 6 років тому +11

      Fierce Gamer's i never said i consider him to be a lesser villain than Lazarevich. I like Rafe. Hes my fav villain as well. i was just stating why he seems like child's play to others. I even stated that people like Rafe are worse to deal with than Lazarevich because Rafe would rather just kill you without caring about the consequences or lost benefits behind it. I'd rather deal with a senial but level headed Lazarevich. Which says a lot. Rafe ftw my brother
