Brilliant lesson Richard. There’s a Snowy White compilation called ‘Goldtop’ which features a live in the studio jam of Slabo Day (which is on ‘in the skies’) with some extended soloing from Snowy which is just brilliant. Well worth a listen if you can find it. Thanks Richard. Very inspiring, informative and expertly executed. Bravo. 👍
One of the absolute best lessons you’ve done Richard. I have loved this so much, it’s been such a wonderful experience delving into this phrasing and I think you captured snowy’s phrasing so well. Especially around 9:44.
Hi Richard, very enjoyable video. You nailed the tone and style of Peter Green (RIP). I've seen him live in Paris in the early '70's and he was playing through a Fender bandmaster amp with 2 15"JBLs fitted in the cab. Interesting what you demonstrate about the out of phase option. I've modded a Telecaster featuring a mini humbucker in front installing 2 volume pots, one being a push push to allow toggling between in phase/out of phase. When the 2 pickups play togather in the middle position, the pots act as a blender and indeed there are numerous combinations of tones when reducing one pot or the other. It's a tele on the back pickup, a LP with both out of phase, a country twang tone with both in phase and a Jazz guitar when using the front pickup only. Plus it's light (Swamp Ash body) and the neck is one piece of thick maple ('58 type). A surprisingly unique guitar... Cheers Richard !
My favourite guitar phrasing and sounds!! 👍🥰 Fantastic lesson, love all the details, thanks, I'll be working on these. To get these sounds on my gear, I use the neck pickup on my PRS SE. On the amp, I take a lot of bass off, and push the mids up high. And add a lot of reverb of course! Break up courtesy of my RYRA Klon clone. As a die-hard Peter Green and Snowy White fan, I remember buying the 'In The Skies' album after an absence of Peter for what seemed an age - six or seven years. I was disappointed with it, even though I thought Peter played the leads I was hearing. The spark had gone somehow. Obviously, it was a difficult album for Peter who was still on medication and lacking in confidence.
Richard, thank you for another outstanding lesson. You always seem to capture the essence of the material. It’s always done tastefully with great sounds and phrasing. Just wanted to express my appreciation. Thank you!
It’s a great album. Who played what doesn’t matter. It’s a tribute to a style well out of favour ten years on from PG’s Fleetwood Mac apex. Once described as something like “Santana with a sense of limits” 😊 which, given Carlos’ penchant for lifting Green, is a great backhanded compliment.
Peter Green was very reluctant recording new material. Snowy a dear friend of Peters dating back to his legendary Fleetwood Mac days encouraged him to play again. In studio Peter insisted snowy to play lead however he dismissed it and forced Peter to play lead on some, such as “fool no more”
Great content, as ever! Just a note to say that I think Peter Green did play with the volume a lot - at least during his Fleetwood Mac years. A good example is Jumping at Shadows on the live at Boston LP - a personal favorite of mine!
Great lesson! IThis is one of my top 15 albums ever. How can i get this nasal sound? i read, that GM measures the electronics to get to know, how PG does it. It is not just Out of Phase, i think, or?
The best solos are singing through the guitar, rather than showing-off technical ability like many (most) youtube guitar players like to do without musical sense.

A wonderful style/manor of teaching as with all you produce Richard, thank you. And Snowy White in particular is so underrated.

Simply brilliant lesson of two of best and greatest guitar players of all times!
Great lesson Richard. I like you explanation of techniques you've used and why. Thank you
Excellent Richard, two great players, you too. Thanks.
I hear those licks also in DG solos

Really loved this licks video, the thinking behind the style and the note choices was so insightful, please do more like this
FANTASTIC Lesson. I feel as though I just won the lottery. BRILLIANT.

Thanks so much. Great video
In The Skies is a great album.
Snowy White also had his les Paul pickups wired out of phase?
Great lesson, great video quality, but the worst camera angle for lookin at the freatboard...

Excellent lesson. That guitar sounds phenomenal 👌
There are a lot of misconceptions about this wiring. You guys should do a tutorial :-)
More Snowy that Peter I think 👍
