I've hacked the guitar for 40 years, and don't have anything like your understanding of chords /scales etc. I have a degree of basic knowledge but feel that i've learned more in the last four days than I have in the last 20 years. I can play some of the greatest songs and solos, but never really understood how they were compiled. What we do have in common are the heroes...Green, Frusciante et al. Thank you.
I've learned more from Dave than any other teacher on you of the tube. Great personality and makes learning fun . Really massive kudos to you Something I've noticed about Peter Green's vibrato is very similar to Dave Gilmour's vibrato.
Great teaching Dave, never at all dry or repetitive, and with a relaxed style. For the basic/intermediate player it is really informative packed with new ideas. For the experienced player it is thought provoking and offers a different way of looking at some things which are so familiar you lose the ability to stretch them further. As a fairly competent blues player I found the end product of all three vids was that, the more I listened, the more I wanted to get off the PC and go to the music room to play! Theory is no use in isolation and I found the way you put your theory across generated the real need to play with it in practice then and there. That's rare. Thanks!
Joe Calandrella Great point on vibrato when you quoted, “Like it This Way”. Kirwan had a much more savage vibrato, and a bridge tone, and the differences in their mutually-stellar playing are perfectly illustrated in that tune.
Dave, I actually enjoy your videos, and I'm not a guitar player. I do love Greeny, and your approach is so relaxed and friendly. Easy to watch, very enjoyable, thanks!
Hi Dave, really enjoying these insights into PG playing; great fan of him and you. Seen him twice, once in FM in the late 60,s and the other time at Blackpool Spanish Hall.
If you use a heavy pick you can get the dynamic volume change your talking about either that or a volume petal. Keep swinging for the fence; lots of luck to all.
I really like the way you explain things, Dave. Especially the touches of humor. But now I'm all stressed out and messed up. In my blocked head, I keep thinking "Rattleshake Snake" instead of "Rattlesnake Shake." Is it okay to use either since they both sound the same???... (For some odd reason, I'm now craving a big ol' Steak. Grrrr. I'm hungry.)
I imagine that your "masterclass" series focuses on the players that most inspire you and that you have studied in detail. I wonder if Billy Gibbons fits into that category somewhere. I love his playing and especially his use of squealies! Just a thought. Love both the Hendrix and PG series. I can see that Hendrix is really useful for learning John Frusciante - a bit of a fave of mine.
+gliddofglood They are indeed. Mr Gibbons has appeared on my radar a little but not enough for me to do a series on. I could probably do a few lessons though. I'll have a play and see what happens. Having a good understanding of Jimi does indeed help with playing like John. Thank you for watching.
Funny, there is so little information on vibrato .....that was awesome !! We have the same guitar heroes except my main hero is BB King . I even have a epiphone lucille that sounds very special . You should try some BB King stuff because he also uses a lot of very subtle bends which makes it very musical. Because of your videos i am saving up now for a orange CR120C ( a combo is more for the blues guys and a half stack for the rock guys ) O well Walter Trout plays a half stack too... Anyway love your videos so keep up the good work!! All the best.
Dave Simpson That would be top. Danny had such wonderful variety in his tone, like Peter. I think they had a real brotherhood in terms of their playing. Thanks for sharing about Greeny. I added a phase switch on my guitar just to try to capture that sound on "Need Your Love so Bad."
+Ismael Flores Danny was Peters protege....I think he was way more effective than Spencer.I think Kirwan was a little more aggressive with his vibrato than even Peter was!
Dave is there any possibility that you make a "The Green Manalishi" lesson...that would be so awesome! I found some clips from you and your band but the recording quality isnt that good.. Keep it up, PEACE :)
Hey man really oustanding I am a very big PG fan I have a Larry Corsa pg mod faded Les Paul ( lcpg 222) I am 66 teaching my self guitar Your tutorials are really helping thanks Keep it up how a tutorial on Jumping at Shadows
+Michael Strong Thank you very much and thats a nice guitar you have there. You must have read my mind. I shall be getting round to jumping at shadows in the near future. Next up is albatross. :)
Dave, check out Lazy Lester.ua-cam.com/video/1cWH0Fu7cLkL/v-deo.htmlester played harp with Lighting Slim. Captain Beefheart said that "you only need to listen to Lighting Slim" Lester is a great guy, 83 and still plays. Check out the last of the swamp bluesman's playing.
Vincent Jacquet Yeah I do, but I have 3 number one blues players that I consider the best in my opinion. Mr Green is one the others are Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher. :)
It doesn’t matter how long ago this was made, it remains excellent.

Getting my first electric guitar in a few days and I will then return to this video. He’s my favourite guitarist. Glad you posted this.
How's it going some time later? :D
@@Paul-Dhe gave up!
Nuance is what made Green different! You've listened hard.
+Andy Thomas Indeed it is. :)
This is a great lesson Dave! I thought I watched all these but somehow managed to miss this one.

Dave, more of a comment about all 10 Green videos. Bravo! Love it. Please make a hundred of these. :-)
Awesome! Lesson on Oh Well Pt2 sometime would be fantastic 😁 .........
Nice vibrato lesson!
you have mastered Peter's superb vibrato... not an easy task. Excellent.
Thank you very much. :)
Nice play man....love to see....Fleetwood mac enthusiasts

+Kiwikotzen Thank you. :)

glh1956 Thank you for watching. :)

Excellent
Great chord at 6:45.
Open E on bass string, octave on 5th string, minor third on 4th.
Surely does sound like Mr. Green.
+tennisbumojai :)
5 years ago wow. Maybe in another 5 years ill have all the info from these series under my fingers lol
Nice gear, my friend.
Thank you very much. :)
Incredible stuff man. My favorite channel on the tube. Any chance you could do a series on Rory Gallagher?
Thank you very much and i do have a rory series planned. Its just getting round to it. :)
Dave Simpson that would be awesome
So am I, bending up to pitch and pivoting my hand for the vibrato really fast, or bending up to pitch and actually shaking the guitar?
Funny, there is so little information on vibrato .....that was awesome !!

Could you do one for Danny as well?
I'll see what i can do. : )

Cool lesson man 😎 Paul Kossoff next then? 😉
Thank you very much and hopefully soon. : )
Nice one, Dave. :-)
David Prudhoe Thanks yous. :)
What about Danny Kirwan? He had such an amazing vibrato!
Ismael Flores He did indeed but I wanted to just focus on Peter for these lessons. :)
***** thanks for these too man!
Ismael Flores Lol. The clue is in the title. How to play like Peter Green.
I know, I know. I was just mentioning Danny Kirwan, because he's soo underrated. He studied Peter Green, and got it down to a tee.
+Ismael Flores Danny was Peters protege....I think he was way more effective than Spencer.I think Kirwan was a little more aggressive with his vibrato than even Peter was!
Come on old chap, lesson 4 is required 😉👌😘
GrabbingHandz Part 4 is up now. Sorry it took so long. :)
Dave is there any possibility that you make a "The Green Manalishi" lesson...that would be so awesome! I found some clips from you and your band but the recording quality isnt that good.. Keep it up, PEACE :)
I can indeed. Got to get through a few more lessons first but i will get there. :)
Sounds awesome, thats what i wanted to hear! :D

Do you consider Peter Green as your favorite blues guitar player ?
Vincent Jacquet Yeah I do, but I have 3 number one blues players that I consider the best in my opinion. Mr Green is one the others are Jimi Hendrix and Rory Gallagher. :)

Vincent Jacquet Thanks for watching. :)
