This video was filmed almost exactly a year before Freddie passed. He was so skinny here already. Brian May said he was clearly suffering a lot during the filming of it in an interview, but he refused to just sit and rest because he knew his time was borrowed at that point. He wanted to keep recording til he died exactly as he said. He was so brave.
@@gotomymostpopularvideo3235 This was their last album with Freddie alive. MIH is a mixture of old songs and three unreleased songs, so it's a mess of an album.
My dad introduced me to Queen when I was 10 by downloading their greatest hits. Now I have all fifteen studio albums and I'm a bigger fan than he is. Strange how life works
That’s the way it was for me. My dad had night at the opera on vinyl and I asked him about it. He said “oh yeah! those guys are a great studio band”. They’ve been my favorite classic rock band for about 30 years now....
oh yeah actually one And a couple of months The scenes with the blue shirt are from December 1990 And the scenes with the yellow sweater are from January 1991
Brian wrote this song for his solo album he was working on. He took it to the studio to get John, Roger and Freddie's opinion of it. When he heard Freddie sing it he knew it had to be a 'Queen song'. I've noticed any songs that Brian wrote have great guitar solos in them. Case in point, he wrote We Will Rock You. The song was foot stomps and hand claps, except for the last 40 seconds. That was Brian's guitar solo, the only music in the song.
I grew up with Queen (even tho i was born in 1999) but my dad always played Queen and i was fascinated by it. I became madly in love with Queen and i still am. Aids sucks.
it made me so sad when i saw this was released in 1991. then i saw just how happy they were and how much fun they were having, and it made me feel better. still pretty bittersweet.
My dad's cancer battle song, that he listened to on repeat as he knew he wouldn't make it, throat cancer sucks for some people and some people are lucky to get extra time, thanks to queen he kept his fight till the end RIp January 2020 only feels like yesterday he was still here 🥺
The best of the last. I tend to be wary of videos of sick Freddie, but this is an exception. He was very ill here, but clearly had a good time shooting this video, goofing around in the studio. And that smile. He had a beautiful smile.
Freddie was a so brilliant singer, he could even sing a telefonbook and it would sounds better than most of the so called talents of our time. Really damn good this performance.
Everytime I watch Queen videos, I keep thinking...if medicine would have been at the stage where it is now, he could have kept HIV under control and could have made so many more groundbreaking songs...
I'd say that too! Sounds great in 2021 not even a year old. That's how incredible these rock bands from the 70s are incredible talent and Freddie Mercury and Queen well you'll never replace them.
Fun fact: The guitar Freddie was playing at 3:23 is actually Brian's first ever guitar gifted to him by his parents in his 7th birthday prior being restored by Andrew Guyton years later after this video was shot. Noticed that the guitar had a similar body after watching the Red Special Book launch video.
bepis they couldn't afford an ELECTRIC guitar. Brian had that acoustic guitar for years, before building the Red Special. His father bought it when he realized Brian needed more than an ukelele.
I find it very surprising how this song and whole “Innuendo” album is so underrated… It is most beautiful, sad and on the same way has so much hope in it. Also if you add the context what they were going through at that time - it’s amazing.
I completely agree with you! Innuendo is full of amazing, in my opinion, vocal skills of a man who, recording it, was dying after all. However, his voice was as wonderful as ever, and I would even say better. The entire album abounds in beautiful compositions. The album "Innuendo" is my favorite from Queen!
agree, that was about the time the powers that be were pushing grunge (that didn't catch like rock). Funny how everyone is still listening to 70's, 80's and the early 90's rock, while no one is listening to the grunge crap.
Dan Goodbad they had already done the dance direction they wouldn't go back as they couldn't do it right. Brian and Roger don't wanna make dance music anyway so there would be a huge problem. A funk rock fusion perhaps.
Okay, Imma just say it. BRIAN IS SUCH A MOOD IN THIS VIDEO! He's going from intellectual astrophysicist face with Deaky and him at the mic to hair-ography headbanging moments later!! Legend.

Bro it's a generic rock song. Freddie's voice carries it all, if it weren't for him this would have been nothing at all. Still fits greatly within the Innuendo album as a whole. On its own its absolutely forgettable
Oh the pain he endured in his last year of life in this song. Major respect to Freddie for singing this song with such electricity and in major pain he still showed up and gave his all. I love you Freddie thanks for the wonderful music talent God gave to you. I bet you’re in heaven just singing away
His intensity is down quite a bit compared to videos and performances where he's well, yet he still gave every ounce of strength he could muster. Respect, Mr. Mercury. 💪❤

This video was filmed almost exactly a year before Freddie passed. He was so skinny here already. He wanted to keep recording til he died exactly as he said. He was so brave.

Brian is always good
Brian wrote this song for his solo album he was working on.

Fun fact: The guitar Freddie was playing at 3:23 is actually Brian's first ever guitar gifted to him by his parents in his 7th birthday prior being restored by Andrew Guyton years later after this video was shot.

Wrong. The Red Special was Brian's first guitar

I reckon had he lived they may have taken a more dance direction for a bit as dance was big in the 90s.
Dan Goodbad they had already done the dance direction they wouldn't go back as they couldn't do it right. Brian and Roger don't wanna make dance music anyway so there would be a huge problem. A funk rock fusion perhaps.
