I started using furosemide early 2020 from my creatinine level 1.7 after using for one year, now my creatinine level is increased to 3.5. I have told my dr. but the dr. is increasing more dose of furosemide. should I stop using furosemide? My present Hba1C is 8.9. Appreciate for your advice. thank
With a rising creatinine, you & your Doctor need to figure out why the renal parameters are rising.I am sure you Doctor would have done some preliminary work up including looking at your complete blood count, your metabolic profile as well as urine analysis.Given that rise microalbumin in your Kidney should be checked as well as Ultrasound of your kidneys Your Doctor should check your Urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio .Long -standing diabetes and hypertension commonly lead to CKD. Since I am not your Doctor I won't be able to give you advice on specific medications as I am not privy to your medication list and medical history.Lasix can increase your renal parameters and cause dehydration, however, if your rising creatinine is due to congestive heart failure for example Lasix can be used.To know the difference on when to use it requires a physical examination as well.
I have had felt shaking , having seizures since I taking, lasix looks like I am having the worse kind of seizure , three to six times a day, my hair is falling out. it was down to the small of my back, Migraine headaches 7 of those a week if not more. losing the control of my hands . They are twitching . I had none of these things that is occurring before , losing my hearing , I can't take those side effects !
As a side note - that visual with the word Lupus was quite stunning! The teal color and the pop of red against the chalkboard!!! Nice. (Sorry. Couldn’t resist commenting on the colours even though it has nothing to do with Lasix!) 🤪

Yes 20mg. I don't have edema. Echo just showed pericardium fluid of 0.85 cm. I don't have any symptoms yet but with the side effects of this drug, I am scared to continue. My blood work is okay. I noticed a decrease in my blood pressure since I started taking the drug. 87/54. It was during regular check up I found out I was having the pericardial disease.

Did you get tested for venous insufficiency? I am sure you would have had a work-up to r/o a blood clot.A less common reason would be a baker's cyst which can be diagnosed with a leg ultrasound.
@@ThinkYourHealth they only gave me antibiotics saying it might be an infection, it didn't help a thing. I guess I should request for the altra sound. Thanks for your help, it has made me feel better.

Management of chronic venous insufficiency usually entails the following: - Initial treatment for most patients is conservative and includes limb elevation, exercise, and compression therapy. With progressive disease and with patients with persistent symptoms and signs of venous disease after a period of nonoperative management and documented superficial venous reflux as a source of their symptoms are candidates for superficial venous ablation. Lasix can be taken with or without food, however if you want to optimize the effect of the drug( and it does not upset your stomach) you can take it 1 hour before breakfast or about 2 hours after breakfast.
It can, however, I would not use it for blood pressure control as there are so many other choices.If I do use it, I am aware of that and use it to "my advantage" depending on the patient's co-morbidities!

Yes, it can make you lose weight. However, the weight you are losing is secondary to fluid as it was used to treat your pulmonary edema.
