- Steel show 1989 With Donna Sherrard on vocals with Buddy Emmons on steel, Boogie Sherrard on lead guitar, Glen Phillips on Acoustic, Gary Talbot on Drums, and Fred Scroggin on Bass
Why do we all have to get old and die? It just isn't right to live in a particular time and not be able to enjoy it for years longer than we get to. Buddy was my biggest influence when I started learning to play steel back in 1979 and I got to stand next to him at a show in Fort Worth. It was one of the biggest thrills of my life to this day.
Jazz archival folks should really give this Buddy Emmons and Boogie Sherrard some SERIOUS attention. You are missing a big connecting cross link. These guys are 'Boiler Plate' alternative jazzers. A good trumpet or sax player could float in and jam with this. More please. I'll bet Ms. Donna Sherrad-Williams may agree. She was great on Ode To Billie Joe.
Buddy, always the best, I really miss him. Thanks to the people who recorded these shows and those that now post them on the internet.
Buddy was impressed with this backup band !! The best !
Thank you for uploading this.
Spe ial appreciation goes to Tuck Raisor (RIP) for getting Buddy to our area 👍👍
Buddy asked me to do another song….. I was so honored 🙂
you sounded great!
and your dad is a world-class player. wow! what a great day for you being up there with your father and buddy.
Really enjoyed your Ode To Billy Joe.
Great job. You were a good part of a really great project.
So glad to find this. On my save list file.
Oh to turn back time 👏👏👏👏👏
Great playing by all involved. Buddy in top form as usual. He even Flint Hill Special!!! You never hear that!!
Love seeing all these shows get uploaded! Thanks so much! Buddy Emmons my hero.
Boogie was smoking hot on guitar. Buddy was having a blast and playing so well. This has to be the best show I've seen. Band was tight.
Thank you all. Boogie was my dad ♥️
@@Autoluke Yes Donna and you are surely proud of him. I seen Boogie play at several shows and he was always a blast. I love pedal steel guitar and played one for over 30 years, but I also play guitar as well. Your dad was a model for me to observe and learn from. However when he played steel with a flatpick I was stunned. Never seen anyone else do that. God bless you and your dad.
So good!
Love to hear steel guitar, it is really beautiful especially when played by a talent like Buddy!
Buddy Emmons the finest steel player ever!!!
I really enjoyed listen to your music I wish I could play like you guys you are the best well done...
To ""The Master", with Love, Forever.
Good as it gets
I was there but I remember the lineup being Shonna Derrard, Eddy Bummons, Shoogie Berrard, Pen Glillips, Tary Galbot, and good ol Scred Froggins. I was pretty drunk the whole time but it was a great show.
Take Me Out to the Ball Game. On the 7th inning stretch Harry Cary and Phil Rizzuto would say, "Holy Cow, that's a Home Run. He knocked it out of the park !".
Buddy still owns the pedal steel guitar benchmark , it is very doubtful if anyone will ever surpass him.
As Good as it gets
Is he playing an Emmons guitar? Not clear what I am seeing there.
I'm still puzzled. Why mask off the guitar logo? I mean really? We know what it is! We knew who it was.... We'll miss him forever ("The Master").......
Enough should be enough.
