In Navajo we have the same type of dish but for sheep...we use the liver, heart, lungs, small intestine and some if the stomach fat to and mix it all together. I don't remember what it is called right no though

I would like smelt tempura, first time I had fried smelt was decades ago. Washington coast, found a landing net with a hole in it, my Grandma had a 2 piece bathing suit with fish net connecting top and bottom. Walked into a very steep sandy surf, my uncle holding once side, me the other and Grandma holding the hole closed on the net. Wave after wave of several smelt in the net and several in Grandma's fish net bathing suit. It was a great fish fry. Oh, forgot to mention we were camping along the coast and everything just came together.
