Well crafted and smart sketch by Bob & Norm. How awesome. Norm’s dark humor: Finding the humor in how people try to reason with crazy people and suddenly fearing for your life. Bob hilarious deadpan delivery and innocence. in an interview Norm said Bob asked if he could use this sketch in his live act. If that was true , what an honor that musta been for Norm
Scetch written by Norm Macdonald, RIP. Norm mentioned that it was one of the great honors in his life that Bob requested that he could use this scetch in his stand up act.
Oh, MY GOD; I miss Bob SOOOO much, already. There will never be ANYBODY, who is so HILLARIOUSLY "dry", in the most ridiculous of situations, like this scene! R.I.P....to the undisputed "KING OF DEADPAN"!!!
It's amusing to me that Bob Newhart had to practice to develop his stutter as part of his comedic persona, being a naturally fluid speaker himself, whereas I've been spending my whole life trying to get rid of mine. I think about this sometimes.
RIP Bob Newhart your albums made my parents laugh and i loved your smart sitcoms. Norm got your autograph at the end of this show, using your album covers.
This is the reason why NALC told members to stop filling out surveys. It will find a way to be used against you. Good humor always has truth as its basis.
Newhart was the APEX of Stand Alone Comedy to coax us into discussion about Sour, Complex or Heartbreaking events...but WITHOUT offensive language, Respecting his Audience was Clever, without insult,, blaming others or worst, Violence. Newhart taught us to laugh at ourselves, and LEARN.
All comics have writers, and they write their own things and collaborate, I can write funny stories but I'd have to give it to someone who can deliver it in the way I want, love Bob, and late Norm
That was brilliant. Of course, written by Norm for Bob, whom he loved. We all did. It got little laughs because the audience was too young and ignorant.
R Gray--I remember reading a critical review of an appearance by Bob Newhart on Saturday Night Live, and he said that if a polished, intelligent routine performed by Bob Newhart could fail to get laughs, then there is something wrong with the audience.
"We haven't really had that much luck with disgruntled employees in the past" "I just find it hard to believe that the Devil has spent the last 45 years sorting mail."
Son of Sam reference - serial killer claimed a demon possessed neighbor’s dog told him to kill. It’s establishing that the postal worker is likewise homicidally crazed.

Bob Newhart's Stand Up?
@@macmacreynolds8712 Yeah, Bob Newhart's standup. It's a sketch done in the style of Bob Newhart's comedy album bits and his standup act.
hard to imagine macdonald and newhart working together, what with norm being so offensive. But in a way, their styles match.
I miss you already, Bob. Rest in peace.
Amazing take on the telephone routine Newhart was known for. Simply brilliant!
"No, I'm not calling your dog a liar."
Lololol!!!!!
Right out of left field.
Shades of Son of Sam...
What is a gruntled employee? Odds bodkins: "gruntled" meaning satisfied is a perfectly acceptable word.
Rest In Peace Bob. Overdue condolences to the family for your loss. 😔💐

A Master Class of his own Bob style. Its a shame Norm could not do more writing for him as it appears to be a good fit.
Omg I love Bob Newhart. Watched him as much as I could.
Bob Newhart's delivery is impeccable.
RIP Bob 😭 (& Norm). You were one of the greats! ❤
I remember this so vividly from when it first aired. Just perfect!
Norm wrote that? Awesome!
Bob and Norm "sparring" would have been a masterpiece!
Two of the funniest men!
Haha, superb acting from Bob.
I wasn't expecting that skit to deliver so much at the very end. Excellent.
Nice how he consigned the entire executive suite to their fate...
A crisscross of two legends.
It's amusing to me that Bob Newhart had to practice to develop his stutter as part of his comedic persona, being a naturally fluid speaker himself, whereas I've been spending my whole life trying to get rid of mine. I think about this sometimes.
Bob's stammer was natural, he just learned to use it to great effect as an actor.
He said on several occasions that, "that stammer bought me a house in Beverly Hills."
I wonder what Bob thought of the stuttering on My Generation by The Who?

I loved Bob, he was so funny and sweet ❤❤
How great to showcase a sketch as a Newhart routine, with Newhart.
Brilliiant writing. Great work by Mr Newhart.
Bob's humor was subtle and sophisticated. Our "society" today is neither subtle, nor sophisticated. And we are all the worse for it.
Get off this guy's lawn
Bob Newhart - one of the very best! RIP!
I am perfectly gruntled, thank you…

The Great Gig in the Sky.
😂
Damn Norm.
he was just so original
I hope the HR guy immediately called the boys upstairs.
Lets hope he doesn't literally do a bang up job! 😅
This has Norm's fingerprints all over it
Bob Newhart was an amazing talent
Is!
@@MooseCall what is the last thing he done
Fabulous guy and much missed.
Genius!
Good bye and thank you, Bob. We'll not see your like again. (If he tried to break into comedy today they'd all throw him out for stammering.)

Bob Newhart rest in peace 🕊️😢
Going Postal!
HAHAHA - another BobNew Classic!
Did he just laugh at the joke “wouldn’t have it any other way?”
SNL audience just wasn't ready
"We haven't really had that much luck with disgruntled employees in the past"
"I just find it hard to believe that the Devil has spent the last 45 years sorting mail."
I can hear Norm through Bob here.
You are right. Norm should have written more like this. A little understated steve martin
Underrated sketch
That dog is a liar, probably a cat in disguise.
You every notice how people always say disgruntled, but no one ever says gruntled.
LOL! As a language nerd, I appreciate this!! 😄
Yeah why is that? 😠
I'm here for bob.
I just watched the clip of Norm talking about SNL and him writing this for Bob Newhart.
RIP Bob and Norm
Hilarious, Bob Newhart is great
I think you look great in the combat fatigues
“Disgruntled” sets off red flags around here… you look great in combat fatigues…
Bob Newhart channeling Norm MacDonald; Norm MacDonald channeling Bob Newhart?
....he can hardy keep that smile off his face...
RIP Bob 😞😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😔😔😭😭😔😔😭
I remember watching this skit. Wow. The world we knew dies a little more every day.
A bittersweet truth.
Thanks Norm. Isn't it funny that he's called Newhart when in fact his heart here is quite old?
This could have been one of his old telephone bits. I wonder how much of this he wrote.
is anyone "gruntled"?
You're either ungruntled or regruntled.
RIP Bob
Incredible than you Norm and Bob!
I’m curious about what happened when Andy Bombgardener had that bad day.
He gardens bombs, what do you think happened?
5:09 WHAT IS THAT SKETCH ON THE RIGHT WITH A SNICKERING TINA FEY??
Two of the greats, eh?
Hi Bob!
For feelings he should've wrote slow.
Awesome AF
😂😂😂😂😂😂
We miss u Bob. We miss u Shelly Duvall.
this is brilliant!
NORM
The GOAT!!!!!!
He sounds like Norm here
No, I'm not calling your dog a liar. An Aussie derivative "Did you kick my dog and call it f...ken?"
😂
Why is the dog a liar?
Son of Sam reference - serial killer claimed a demon possessed neighbor’s dog told him to kill. It’s establishing that the postal worker is likewise homicidally crazed.
if only snl still were that good...
damn Norm! you created the idea of POV porn!
How ironic
The post office address is 475 and that's my p o box
I'm Bob newhart is one of my favorites of all time
❤
Whoever decided to add the camera movements does not understand comedy.
Awful audience
Omg it's Professor Proton!
fun fact this sketch is what inspired Steven Carell to create the office television show
He didn't create that show.
