This is from time... Back when bands relied on talent and not computers for good sounds... Back when talent was apparent as soon as the song started.. and they could sound just like this any time they played... without any computers.. just a sound system.. simple times..
Not every band was always good. For example, sometimes Jim would show up blacked out and the concert was over before it began. Sometimes Jerry would be so junked out he couldn't even mumble out his own songs or hold his guitar.
On tape! People forget doing it on tape (mostly) meant you're getting a single take on record. An authentic recording of a performance, not stitched together from multiple takes in pro tools
Check out their hit song Tuesday's Gone for some really incredible lush textures and tons of emotions. I believe it is from their second album, Simple Man being from there first.
Literally my favorite song of all time. Everything a man needs to know about being a man. A wonderful look into the human condition. Another song they did, (my second favorite) a deep cut called Ain't no Good Life.
About 5 yrs ago when my sister passed away, her sons had this played at her funeral. Little did we know that 6 weeks later to the day, her oldest son would pass away in his sleep at just 37 yrs old. He was a huge Skynyrd fan so we had “Freebird” played at his funeral. Still get chills when I hear these songs.
My most sincere condolences to you. I sang this at my brother's funeral Mass because it was his favorite song. My Mom had passed away one month before he did. This is the most beautiful song and with the most important message for all of us
My hometown Boys from Jacksonville, Florida. We're very, very Proud of our Boys. You're listening to 3 lead guitarists all playing the same notes simultaneously plus the bassist! The last original band member recently passed but L.S. lives on! I LOVE YOUR REACTION
@@Watchman70 Seriously, we here in Jax dearly loved Tom and much Respect to his and your hometown. I always bragged to my yankee family and friends that Northeast FL had two musical icons!
It's a good thing you weren't listening to the lyrics at the time or you would have been devastated. The lyrics are so beautiful that they even have had me in tears (and I'm a 60-year-old man). Loved your reaction and I suggest you keep at just what you're doing.
I'm not sure Mark realizes it is going to take45 years to catch up on all this incredible music. By my calculation he should be about 81 years old🤣 Oh, and Mark...the pronunciation is on the album cover!
Uncle Meat You got that right, son! The Southern Rock genre will take about 25 years to cover, and the rest together about 75. So, I hope Mark has a century to spare as he gleefully reacts to the very best music ever produced . We had it all back then, but I'm not certain we realized or appreciated the fact.
I love this reaction because I felt the same when I first heard it a long time ago (when I was a baby)😅. Sorry this comment is so late to the party, but I just found your channel 5 days ago.😊😊😊❤
Great review. Nice to see someone who truly gets it. As a newbie bass player. I love the bass line in this one. It's subtle but make a huge contribution to the song.
From what I've heard, the story of this song actually is just as impressive. Apparently, four members of the band were talking, and comparing advice they'd gotten from their parents and grandparents. They put this song together within a half an hour.
I knew this one would hit hard. It is one of the most complete songs about life told to an only son by his mother. LS does it like no one else could. Cheers !!
Freebird lol. I need some of your energy today lol. Thanks for making my day. LS one if my favorite band Southern Rock at its best. Like I've said before I am so lucky to have been apart of this generation to have grown up to see these guys in concert. They were and are amazing.
I've only been watching your shit for like a month but you're the only reaction guy I watch now. Genuine reactions to music I love ( and I'm finding new music myself from this! ), and you're also a brit like myself. Keep up the ace work, Hector!
Lynyrd skynard was their gym teacher in high school who told them they would never b anything, they named it after him as a FU and said if they ever got famous it would remind him of wat he said Everytime he saw it So many great tunes.. Enjoy the ride
Gorgeous song. Very moving especially for men nowadays who keep being portrayed as toxic. I love men; strange, I always have! And your reaction disproves that toxicity agenda being shoved down our throats.. My life is wrapped in memories of music like this. It MATTERED to us; we felt our minds open and our souls expand. I have felt this way since I was a little girl, when The Beatles were everywhere to the extent you breathed them in. My life is completely wrapped in this music, my funeral rites would be hours long to fit in a fraction of the music that changed my life and yes, even literally saved it. Keep going Hector, your reactions are helping to bring our souls back to life. It matters. To see what we love being loved 50 years later? It matters. Thank you. x
Another great reaction. Had to watch this again. I'm sitting here with my mother's dog on my lap crying my eyes out. This was the song we would have danced to at my wedding but the Pandemic screwed that up. I lost her to cancer last year so this really hits a spot in my heart. Another great Synyrd song (yes you got it right this time) is "Tuesday's Gone"
Right on! Love the track from Lynyrd Skynyrd and the rhythm is so mellow to listen to! Thanks so much for sharing your reaction and it’s a like and thumbs up.😄👍#lynardskynard
This is the most beautiful song ever written. I subscribed after I saw your reaction to this, because your reaction to this song is what makes us the same.
I'm loving reliving my teen years through your rock reactions. I miss these type of bands, bands where I'd buy the album (yep album) and then go see them in concert and they sounded exactly like they did on the album. Those were the days!
Just like their album title says..."Pronounced len-nerd skin-nerd". This music was from the heart and soul, and now, they are legends, and not just in the rock and roll hall of fame...but in the hearts and souls of the countless millions of people they have touched so very deeply with their unique and unforgettable music. I believe they had the best bass player in America. Leon Wilkeson , like the others, made my jaw drop....first by hearing that instantly gorgeous and beautifully intricate bass line in the opening bars of SIMPLE MAN, and then, on stage...during FREE BIRD, performed live at the Oakland Stadium.....HOLY CRAP DUDE....Wilkeson was hooked into that groove like a machine...the energy level on that entire stage was frickin' paranormal...all around.
Brilliant reaction! Great band! I know you've touched into metal a bit and can't wait till you journey into more! Love ya reactions Hector and couldn't say it any better " Haters go fuck yourselves" we love ya and keep it going m8
Mark..while I got your attention...lol..you gotta do Grand Funk Railroad..."Inside Looking Out"... the live video....blow your mind for sure my friend.

You got the name right. This is a beautiful song. It gives me great pleasure to see you get such enjoyment from the music I love and grew up with. Someone down in the comments mentioned Shinedown. I wish you would react to Shinedown - "The Crow & the Butterfly". Such a beautiful and powerful song. The song gives me goosebumps all the way through. Brent Smith's voice is amazing, as is the soaring guitar solo. I know you'll love it.
Omg, I absolutely love this song. This brings me back to my teen years! It was played over and over. My friends and I would blast this song while driving!!! In the 80s there was a lot of us just driving around and this was on our list of songs!! This is making me so happy to hear again plus your energy adds so much more to this great song! I am a HUGE Tom fan and glad you got rid of that ass. Yet I am loving this music. I can listen to Tom #hog4life and listen to all these amazing artists! Tom wouldn't care. Keep doing you!
My sons ring tone for me when I call. Finicky at bedtime, I would sing this to him as a baby. Years later, he heard it on the radio, didn't know but it sounded familiar. When I 1st heard that ringtone after trying to find his phone...it melted my heart. Connections are magical!!
Always enjoy your journey through the music I grew up with. If you liked Simple Man, obvious, try “Can’t you see” by Marshall Tucker Band. Don’t need to listen to their whole catalog but the one song is right up your alley for this Journey. Thanks again for all you do.
Great reaction, another ballad by them I love is "Tuesdays Gone", and for another toe tapper by them try "Call Me The Breeze". These are 2 of my favorite Skynyrd songs, maybe more than Freebird.

I think skynryd is a pretty solid band. Majority of their songs are fun, decent songs. That being said...this song really is perfect. It needs nothing. By far one of the greatest songs written. Tuesdays Gone, and freebird are two other phenomenal songs (for me) from them.

They grew up on real music too. “Artists” today grew up on Autotune garbage.
