As The Kansas City Chiefs get set to kick off their 2023 NFL training camp, there seems to be a lot of questions, or even concerns, that people have for this team going into the 2023 NFL season in general, especially after seeing all the Chiefs offseason workouts, OTAs, minicamp, etc. For starters, as Deandre Hopkins recently signed with the Tennessee Titans, one of the biggest talking points for the KC Chiefs, Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes and company was regarding how the wide receivers of the Chiefs would be able to fill the void of those that left.
After the departures of JuJu Smith-Schuster to the New England Patriots and Mecole Hardman to the New York Jets, the Kansas City Chiefs are left with a wide receiver room of MVS, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore, rookie Rashee Rice, Justin Watson, Richie James, etc. Well after the Chiefs minicamp and waiting on the Chiefs training camp, Kansas City might be more set for their offense than ever before. Because with this depth only looking improved, further weapons like Justyn Ross, John Ross, Noah Gray & Jody Fortson behind Travis Kelce, and even the returning running back room of Isiah Pacheco & Jerick McKinnon, Patrick Mahomes could make 2023 even crazier as they attempt to repeat. And that’s not even mentioning the Chiefs offensive live improvements with Donovan Smith & Jawaan Taylor.
But despite the Chiefs offense, the Chiefs defense might be what needs to be discussed more. Because after adding LB Drue Tranquill, rookie 1st round draft pick Felix Anudike-Uzomah, waiting on the Chris Jones contract extension, and returning George Karlaftis, Willie Gay, Nick Bolton, Justin Reid, etc, the Chiefs are going to be a team to keep an eye on throughout their 2023 NFL Training Camp.

it’s a little weird that the Number One passing offense in the league gets questioned every year…
Just wait until they convince themselves the Raiders are going to win the AFC West. Again..
Airbags just airbagging
Chiefs legit have the worst WR room this season. But it doesn't seem to matter usually
@@cwhit2575Texans
@keegan69cousins420 Collins and Woods are, as of today which is what we're discussing, better than every chiefs current WR.
The team is legendary already. Go Chiefs kingdom. 💯👍
I'm all for our receiving core. They are young, fast and appear to have great hands. Can't wait for pre-season to show their talents!
Absolutely! The hands r most important. As long as they don't drop a ton of balls, mahomes will get them the ball.
Last year was supposedly a rebuilding year. We all saw how that worked out. The defense got better as well, which will hold opponents scores down a bit from last year. So, all-in-all, KC enters 2023 at - or ahead - of where they were last year. The key components are there: Mahomes, Kelce, a dynamic 1-2 RB punch, and solid depth for the 2 and 3 TE sets they like to run (and btw, there are currently 6 TEs on the roster). And let's not forget Andy Reid. So, no, I am not concerned - I just want to see what Reid and Co. dial up this year.
14-3 again
I would like to say 15-2 or 14-3, But I’m realistic that this is another team from last year. I will temper my predictions and say 12-5
Besides the Pro Football schedulers are conspiring to knock our Chiefs down with the gauntlet schedule scheming they designed for our Chiefs this year. Thanks
We can handle it. We need to be tested through our the season.
Don't forget our wr core this season is going to be explosive and faster and more dangerous
We know the mission!!!! The rest of the NFL. Just have to fall in line baby! Run it back 🏆 Trophies up! We got this
Rice will be huge, I think he's game will translate better than sky
Rookies struggle to get on the field in Andy's system. Sky is fast and shifty.... perfect replacement for mecole
Skyy is Hardman. He’s a middling slot reciever at best. I think Rice is going to be the next great one paired with Mahomes. He reminds me of Jamar Chase. Same size, same speed, same crazy vertical
Rice will be a bigger version of the cheetah Tyrek Hill
@@MichaelBeeman-hh4pt a better Juju
Keep doubting us we love it chiefs kingdom
A bit off topic, but Pacheco's running makes me smile. Its something ive wanted to see from the Chiefs for as I've been a fan, which is basically since Big Red became Head Coach.
You would have loved the 90s and Marty Ball
Pacheco runs like he's pissed of at the ground for something. Like it slapped his sister or something.
@@dalehammers4425 He did have tragic stories of his brother and sister getting killed. Therefore, it's not far from that.
I’d even put Pacheco in the slot. Once he gets the ball in the open field , one on one with s corner or safety. I like his chances
@@peterfrknpan6674 CEH works well for this too.
JuJu could possibly be missed until one of the new wide outs steps up, but they might not even notice that he is gone. Mahomes is so good at spreading the ball around, and it seems every year he just gets better at it. The Cheetah not resigning was actually a blessing for Mahomes because he didnt just look for Tyreek and Kelce all the time now. I am not worried about the young guys in the WR room. The young guys stepped up huge in the playoffs last year when they were desperately needed. I think they will only be better this year!
Yeah, I was telling people before the season that having a weapon like Hill was probably holding back Mahomes mental development. There were clear times he was trying to force the ball to Hill in 2021, some were really bad choices. Was this just because he believed that Hill was going to get open, or was it because Hill was in his ear about getting the ball more? I dont know, but I think its clear that Mahomes became a better distributer of the ball in 2022.
@@joshuaphillips1081 Hill basically lost two games to the Bengals in his last year in KC, and failed to show up in the Super Bowl against Tampa. His stats were a roller coaster, and he frequently put up big numbers after the game was already decided.
@@JohnClarkWhill definitely had like 4 interceptions pop straight off of his hands that season…he DEFINITELY causes a few losses
JuJu won't be missed, he had a very mediocre season. He wasn't the young JuJu anymore. Yeah he did well, but not well enough to be missed.
I like how you broke it down. I am not worried at all. Most teams couldn't dream of a squad like this, top to bottom, veach is the man
Keep your eye on rookie DB Nic Jones evidently he was playing with the 1st stringers and made great plays on the ball which included INTs on Mahomes
They are not in pads yet tho right?
He got cut
@@martynbrooks6015 nope
Mahomes transcendence as a QB dictates that the receivers CAN learn the system, Mahomes style, and perform at a much higher level, than their skill set would normally account. How many wideouts have the Chiefs lost over the past five years, and how many have made ANY kind of a splash with their new teams, with the exception of Hill. NONE. My dead grandmother could play wide out for this team.
everyone focuses on the Mahomes passing highlights, and Reid's creative offense - as they should. But Pacheco added a tough running element, he TRUCKED dudes. That kinda toughness is on the D too - not just the great Chris Jones, Bolton's a tackling machine, Chenal's a thumper. It's not all fancy plays and finesse folks.. Chiefs can bring the wood too!
I have complete confidence in our wr corp. So glad that they didn't bite on the D.Hop train. If they want to beef up anything, then I guess I would get someone for the d-line like Dunlop
Go Chiefs! 14-3 2023!!!!
I'm optimistic, I believe they know what they are doing.
20-0 baby 💯🥱
If Kansas City defense get any better than what they was last year NFL y'all in trouble
Exactly
Orlando Brown Jr. leaving Kansas City made that offensive line better the second he left. I actually feel bad for Bengals fans because they think they got Patrick Mahomes' great protector, they have no idea that the reason Mahomes left the pocket so much was because of him. Mahomes made OBjr look really good on paper but when you watch the games you see what's really going on.
When your qb holds on to the ball 4-5 seconds and runs in circles trying to find someone open bc he can’t read the defense, any OT would struggle.
@@joshuaarnold6988 Lol. Is that a troll attempt? 🧐😂
LOCKED AND LOADED - 15 - 2
In KC it’s not about the Wrs it’s about who’s throwing them the ball and in whose’s system…
Put Some RESPECT ON OUR NAME!!!🏆🏆
20-0
Imagine the Chiefs with a double tight end approach, w/ Pacheco and the other guy back to back!
This is probably a boring take, but Mahomes arm strength, mobility, accuracy and ability to manipulate defenses combined with Andy Reid's talent for scheming players open (at least one route is always open) -- all KC has ever needed were receivers that can learn the offense with ability to beat a defender with speed, route running or physicality. You dont have to have all three. So, just about any NFL level receiver that works in the offense and can catch a football will be successful. Believe it or not, but in spite of all of Tyreek Hills athletic ability, his inconsistency catching footballs was his biggest drawback. If a guy like Moore is slightly slower but can catch, then in some ways he is an upgrade. Thats why Kelce is such a problem, he can get open with his routes and physicality, AND will catch everything thrown in his direction.
Get comment sounds like you were a receiver or coach. Told everyone Tyreek was good because of his speed / shifty quick and Andy schemed him open. Ty tried to cradle passes when he should of used his hands. Receiver's also need situational awareness. At times on over the shoulder catches they need to invert and secure the catch instead of looking for yards or TD's.
@@jamesakabbuchanan8154 I will never forget watching the ball bounce off his chest in the AFCCG against the Bengals to lose the game for us. We should have been back to back SB winners if not for Hill. We were driving the ball in OT when he bounced it off his chest into the hands of a defender. As fast as he is, he's still a body catcher.
part of the reason receivers are always open is because kelce ALWAYS finds the open space in the field. that’s not andy reid that’s just mahomes and kelce having insane chemistry
My son and I have a saying, which I think we got from listening to other members of Chief's Kingdom, that goes like this....."In Veach We Trust!" It's worked for us so far, so we aren't really concerned. We watch the injury roster closer, since it is far more accurate & reliable in predicting what personnel troubles we might face during the season.
I am excited about my boys this season
Final record: somewhere between 14-3 and 17-0.
Stuff happens.
Yo! Don't forget Jet outta the backfield! Homie was 2nd to Kelce on receiving TDs last season.
Omg here we go.
Everyone will doubt the Chiefs but they forget about Patrick Mahomes. Also the NFL media needs the clicks and attention from the other NFL markets so they will downplay the Chiefs so other teams fans will click and watch the content.
Agreed, the media told us that Josh Allen won the MVP in October. Then the Bengals were on their way to win the Super Bowl in December, and the Eagles fans are still crying about the field conditions ( which didn't seem to slow down Jones and Clark ).
Lets do this Chieeeeeeeeefs!
You hit it right on. Good video, Chiefs will not miss a beat. This offense is more scary than last season, more explosive. Sit back and watch, we hear the same mess every season 😂😂😂 No respect.
I'm not worried about the chiefs. With Mahomes, Reed and Kelce, they will be fine.
Pat will be double trouble with both legs now.
When you got Patrick mahomes at quarterback it almost doesn't matter who you receivers are
What about Justyn...any scenario where he gets a shot?
Some people never learn.
Undefeated season. to be named the Greatest team Ever in NFL history. you heard it here first!
The KC Chiefs are going into this season a better team than they were at the end of the last! Try to wrap your mind around that??!!
I wouldn’t be worried 🤣 I mean, I’ve been witnessing real elite qb play
I'm curious to see if the offensive looks better or worse without EB.
Well,
I can tell you the Lions 🦁 will be ready for that Thursday night in September.
They’re laser focused on that game.
It’s most of what we talk about up here.
Don’t think the Chiefs will be over looking that game.
Every team is laser focused on beating the Chiefs tbf.
Justin Ross might just be the next ring of honor player...he could be HIM
I hate the Chiefs but they are the favorites to win it all!
We took it ALL last season without a WR1 and a questionable defensive backfield. Still have a solid O-line. We'll be fine, even as the target.
I personally think we are about to field the best Chiefs team to ever exist.
Our rookies stepped up, but Sneed carried us. Hopefully they'll be even better this year.
@@mjamitche5245 I really hope they choose to extend Sneed instead of letting him walk. Kid is gonna be a superstar his whole career I think.
Said it before last season. I think no clear WR1, and a bunch of young or unknown WRs plays perfectly into Mahomes and this offense. It means that outside of Kelce, the ball can go anywhere at any time, no need to have to target one selfish guy. Arguably Mahomes best attribute is improvisation, not having a bunch of known route runners makes his and their job easier imo. I'd rather have 3-4 400-600 yard receivers over one 1200-1600 yard stud. That guy will make some big plays but the 3-4 will make consistent plays all year and the defense has to do more with less.
If we won in a "rebuilding year" I can see us settling into that type of comfortable world where there's not a ton of high expectations and players just go out and do the blue collar work to get the job done. Just my 2 cents.
I think you are "spot" on! We shall see
BRILLIANT!!! ...except you failed to mention Kadarius Toney?!

I moved to Ohio, so now I have to pay for the Sunday Ticket to see all of the non-prime-time magic.
As a Chiefs fan I won't lie when we traded Tyreek Hill I wasn't so sure at first that we would go to the Superbowl those analyst saying we wouldn't make the playoffs was the dumbest thing I've heard in awhile but last season they proved everyone wrong sure there might be a couple bumps in the early part of the season but I trust Mahomes and you can bet Andy Reid will have them ready for another Superbowl run come January
As with all teams. If you stay healthy. They could definitely get back to the Super Bowl. With Rogers with the Jets. Joe borrow with the bengals. They both will have something to say about that. It’s so hard to win back to back Super Bowls. We’ll see what happens.
Toney could be great. He was picked 11th 2 years ago.
Richie James was the giants top receiver last year.
Justyn Ross has a ton of potential.
John Ross was picked 9th in the draft.
MVS was decent last year.
Sky Moore should improve.
Rashee Rice has a ton of potential.
Mahomes will throw for 5,000 yards again.
Do you think we will have 7 receivers make the roster? The only one I question is MVS because I hate to see someone thrown a good pass and can't hold onto the ball. It's such a waste of a play, and it happened multiple times last year. People got upset with Kelce, but every player ought to be allowed one ball drop. It's when it keeps happening that you wonder how the player even got to the pro's and who else out there could be doing better. I know MVS is making the roster though because he's been paid.
@@mjamitche5245 MVS is under contract for 2 more years. He's a lock to make the team. John Ross is a long shot, but he was the highest drafted. He ran the fastest at the combine. Faster than Hill. That's why they took a flyer on him. They usually carry 6, and they are deep at LB, OL, DL, DB so I think it's doubtful they carry 7.
as a chiefs fan i feel like we have a deeper wr room than we have since mahomes got to town
Chiefs are actually set up better this post season than last year. Ofc any situation can be improved upon. Kcs TOP priority rn is to sign Jones to a long term deal. Period. Then go into camp firing on all cylinders!!
Every team has questions each off season losing players to free agency. That is the norm. The Chiefs consistently draft well and re-sign key players. The media is all about doom and gloom. The Chiefs have made it to the AFC championship game 5 straight years. No other team can say that.
"Hosted"
As a Raider fan, I’m very annoyed… both in general, and regarding people doubting the Chiefs. You get undeserved bulletin board material. Let me be the first to say, congrats on your 2024 afc west title, a deep playoff run, and getting to pretend like you’re underdogs again.
If the core stays healthy, its back to the superbowl for the chiefs.
How come these receivers like Valdez Scantly?
Im mostly curious about the defense. Yeah the offense is great but that defense gave up an average of around 25 points last season which led to many close games. Most of the games last year were decided by 3-6 points. Including playoffs. And against pretty bad teams like the raiders too. The jags almost took them down at Arrowhead because of it.
actually the jags almost took them down because they hurt the best qb in the league in the beginning of the second quarter genius
Your lack of football IQ is glaring
Awesome Review Of The Chiefs 2023 Season! I Think The Chiefs Will Be 13-4, & Will Dominate The AFC West Division. I Think The Defense Will Be Good, & Might Be Even Better With There Acquisitions, & I Think The Chiefs Will Get More INT. & Fumble recoveries than last year!! There Offense Will Hold Its Own! It Might Even Do Better With There Offensive Acquisition's! Don't Forger We Have #1 Coach, & Quarterback, & Wide Receiver, Etc. In The League! Go Kansas City Chiefs Kingdom!! Let's Repeat! Let's Go!!!🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈😊😆😎
Worst case scenario I see the Chiefs being 5-3 near the trade deadline and making a move then, but if the young WRs want to play hard and show what they can do with Pat then they can still dominate. Reid always has something planned for his guys.
I think 3 losses on the season is worst case scenario for this Chiefs this year. Mahomes wants to pass Brady, and he knows his time is limited to do so.
Scantly is underated
I am worried more about the schedule more than anything else. Due to the prime time games that were put on the schedule, the Chiefs have the shortest rest time between games than any other team in the NFL. Injuries will be or can be a problem to repeat. Everyone will be gunning for the Chiefs and giving us their best game. The roster is deep and cuts will be tough. I personally am glad we didn't sign D Hop. Go with what we got and make the best of it. If the defense is better, then great. WE will take that all day.
Its ok that we are the most pressured, its during the lax times that the team seems to get lazy. The more pressure the team is under the more they seem to thrive. Unlike other teams they never panic, they just get more determined.
Mahomes played on a high ankle sprain and won the SuperBowl he is our comeback kid
Veech and Reed. We will be just fine. Also wouldn’t you want to be on the SB repeat Chiefs
?
I think Mahomes is gonna push for 6000 yards this year.
Clyde is super underrated as a receiver out the back field. Hopefully Mahomes develops a better rapport throwing to RBs this season.
Bruh he threw 10 Tds to Jerick Mckinnon
@Lilpop_Prodz CEH was leading the team in TDs before he got injured. As far as McKinnon, we've typically preserved him for later in the season. I doubt he has a heavy workload, and definitely not a RB1 workload. That wouldn't make any sense. He's been our 3rd down RB for blocking, screens, etc.
John Ross is gone, BUT I have big hopes for Justyn.
Andy Reid and #15 can male any decent receiver a star! ...and there will be no step down with Matt Nagy replacing EB as the OC!!
I would be something if Ross made his debut with the Chiefs and just had a monster year. He's capable of it.
Did he just retire?
Anybody who doubts the Chiefs going into this season is just an idiot at this point. Ya'll are worried about depth?? Nevermind the fact that they had 7 rookies contribute in our Superbowl victory against a really good Eagles team just a few months ago.
Don’t sleep on Bushman!
As long as Toney and Kelce can stay somewhat healthy I am not worried about the offense. Rookies have a tendency to step up when Andy is the coach. OBJ was a bust and highly overrated as a player. We will see that for sure this season when Burrow is getting knocked on his ass over and over from the left side of the ball. This is also the first time in Mahomes career that he isn't having to play in the top 5 hardest schedules in the league.
Just wait.
Mahomes invited all receivers to Texas and they trained together for 1.5 months. Sign Chris Jones and lets repeat!
I’ll worry when kelce retires. Till then he demands too much attention to worry
The Chiefs looking to take the West again as usual
Smart, pro looking video, not enough likes!
Chiefs will have the close to the same record as last season
Justin Ross is going to be the sleeper of the year, Skye will improve dramatically, Rice will contribute and don't count out Noah Gray or Jody Forston. The 3 TE set is a killer.
I think Rice will be the alpha of the room by or just after Thanksgiving time. He's their best all around receiver. Ross has potential to be their 2nd best leaving Moore as their 3rd
Tyreek went from Alex Smith to mahomes. That's why he jumped. Also skyy dropped punts as well which is a red flag
Moore has never returned punts in his life, he never should have been out there in the first place. Thats on Toub.
@dalehammers4425 that's the nfl, not taub. That how it goes. Tyreek hill was a returner. That's how you prove yourself. Skyy became unreliable at some point because of his drops. Hopefully it gets better this year
@@816KC Hill returned balls before he made it to the NFL. Moore never did, and in fact proved repeatedly he wasnt cut out for it, TOUB kept putting him back in there.
@dalehammers4425 so in your head, taub controls a draft pick that Andy chose to be wr? All the rookie start off returning. Thats how they get reps. How do you not know that. Pacheco returned last year as well. All our running backs and wr returned in the past before. It's Andy system. Not taub. He just a special team coach. Skyy Moore wasn't that good at WR either. Hopefully we get more production this year, if not he is gon
Skky Moore will not be a starter this year. Mark that down. We got deep with WRs.
Seems the "experts" enjoy dragging down KC. While KC fans enjoy how wrong they are.
Chiefs better not treat mahomes like Rodgers and get him a superstar guy I know he doesn’t need it but eventually he will
He already has it, and his name is Travis
@@mikegrizwold2522 smart answer. 👌
Pat has had much better support than Rodgers ever had in Green Bay
The answer to every question is 15. If one of those guys breaks out to become a legit #1....... watch out. When the schedule was released I said 13-4. I've predicted every record, correctly, since Mahomes has been the starter. Well, I did miss last year. I had them at 13-4.
MVS, Kaderius Toney, Sky Moore and Justin Watson now have a year of experience in the offensive system. They can only get better. The new receivers seem to have great potential. BARRING INJURIES the Chiefs can be even better this year than they were last year..........
I see Super Bowl or almost made it
I think the new emerging defense is gonna be dangerous, and give the offense some serious relief. Which gonna make them even more dangerous. The WARPATH DEFENSE cometh, repeat 2023.
Mahomes can win with Kelce and the sisters of the poor
They gonna be 20-0 champs again mahomes is the real goat you'll see
Chiefs are 1 Dimensional. 15 too 87. How defenses know its coming and allows it is beyond the Fans. 15 has never really been "Rocked", maybe this season an opposing Defense will shake the change out of 15's wallet.
Calling the Chief's offense one-dimensional is the funniest hot take I've heard in a minute. 😂
