My thoughts and prayers are with all victims of the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade incident.
Well, the Kansas City Chiefs are your back-to-back NFL Super Bowl champions. But for a moment within Super Bowl LVIII between the KC Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, the Chiefs offense was not producing as was needed. And in fact, the Chiefs defense had been doing the heavy lifting for most of this game. That is, until we saw a playbook adjustment and scheme change from Andy Reid, Matt Nagy & company, that we haven’t seen the entire year from this team.
Starting with the Chiefs offense, their use of both Patrick Mahomes’ ability to scramble, use his legs and generate through the run game was heavily utilized. Pair that with the unexpected depth found in the WR room from of course Travis Kelce & rookie Rashee Rice, but also guys like MVS, Justin Watson, Noah Gray, Mecole Hardman scoring touchdowns, & even Isiah Pacheco & Jerick McKinnon being used along with their presence in the run. The 2nd half adjustments in Super Bowl 58 weren’t just unexpected, but unprecedented.
Then when you mention the KC Chiefs defense, the unlimited praise is deserving. Whether you mention Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo, their frontline in Chris Jones, George Karlaftis, the middle of the field with Willie Gay, Nick Bolton, & Drue Tranquill, or the secondary in L’Jarius Sneed, Justin Reid & Trent McDuffie. This defense had been next level all season, and showing it again the biggest stage ultimately is one of the biggest reasons the Kansas City Chiefs are yet again NFL world champions.
This video includes 2024 Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl 58 highlights, also including topics like Kansas city chiefs 2024, chiefs highlights, chiefs vs 49ers highlights, chiefs super bowl 58, chiefs super bowl lviii, kc chiefs super bowl, patrick mahomes super bowl, travis kelce super bowl, isaiah pacheco chiefs, mahomes highlights, kelce highlights, kc chiefs super bowl, mvs chiefs, justin watson chiefs, chiefs offense, chiefs defense, chris jones chiefs, rashee rice chiefs highlights, chiefs news update, chiefs mock draft, chiefs press conference, kansas city chiefs vs san francisco 49ers, chiefs mic’d up super bowl, chiefs reaction, chiefs live, mahomes mic’d up, chiefs interview, mahomes interview, andy reid super bowl, spags chiefs, chiefs steve spagnuolo, chiefs offseason news, chiefs free agency, chiefs mecole hardman touchdown, super bowl overtime, the franchise chiefs season 4, chiefs song, chiefs 49ers super bowl full game, kc chiefs news today, chiefs super bowl news, travis kelce highlights, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through UA-cam.

It makes sense, though. Why get a costly asset like Mahomes injured on a QB run during an unimportant regular season game? But if you don't do it in the Superbowl when you are about to lose, what's the point of having a QB like Mahomes on the field? The goal of the coaches was to keep Mahomes healthy for the post-season and the Superbowl and they succeeded. When he took off with the ball, I knew they were desperately looking for that spark and boy did he deliver.

It was no "desperation", man ! Innovation, perhaps, yet all the Mohomey and other Chief factors are virtually always there to be used...if/when you see them depends on the situation. No body in Chiefs Nation despaired before the Chiefs offense kicked it into "overdrive' in 2nd half and we knew the D was going to keep beating down the 9rs and eventually wear them down to the frazzle they were by the middle of the 4th qtr, say nothing about OT.

Which is what they’re planning to do with Travis Kelce next year. There specifically hired another tight end to take some of Kelce’s snaps during the regular season so Kelce will be healthier in the post season.

Chris Jones should've been awarded the Super Bowl MVP, hands down. He was an absolute menace on the line, blowing up SF's suspect guards and getting relentless pressure on Purdy in the second half. They started moving him around pre-snap, negating the advantages that SF was attempting to create with motion. He played one of the best games I've ever seen for an interior DL.

Suprised me how KC defense kept 49ers WR in check. Travis Kelce had more receiving yds than Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk combined. Three other KC recievers had more receiving yds than Deebo. Good as Aiyuk was...both Mecole Hardman and Justin Watson had more yds than Aiyuk. Kittle only 2 targets for 4 yds suprised me too.

Sneed and McDuffie were huge keys to KC's success. The freedom to single-up the #1 and #2 WRs at will is a real game-changer on defense. I wonder how KC will do it, next year, because I think they'll have a hard time keeping Sneed.

@@SycoticForeverNeverAFIt’s crazier when you take into account the fact that KC was close to the worst in the league as far as turnovers & Baltimore was near the top. I don’t have the numbers, but I’d bet the Chiefs Defense spent considerably more time on the field than the Raven’s D did.

It was a surprise that the #2 defense was really good? Deebo Samuel sucks against man. His superpower is the run after the catch, but if you can't get the ball in his hands, he isn't much use. The real match up was Aiyuk vs Sneed.

I feel like Mahomes was the difference maker on their last drive, picking up the 4th and 1 with an 8 yard scramble. Then a bit later on 3rd down, he ran straight up the middle for 26 yards against the 49ers in SB 58 and had a total of 44 rushing yards. That play reminded of the one where he charged up the middle for 27 yards on a bad ankle against the Eagles in SB 57. His total rushing yards that day was 69 yards on a very gimpy ankle. With grit, determination and drive, he willed the team to victory and some are calling it the greatest run in SB history.

Andy Reid is one of the best, if not the best coach I have seen at changing the original game plan. It´s not just that the SF deffense got tired, they went away from the game plan and tried different plays to confuse the defense until things started to open up and then the 49´s had no answers, they didn´t win it in regulation because they run out of time, if they had time for 2 more plays, they would have scored a TD

Running teams have a hard time when the Chiefs sell out to stop the run and make the QB win the game for other teams. They see a guy named Mahomes on the other side and freak out if they don't have a two score lead. It's called the Mahomes effect. It's gets teams to get away from what they have done all year. I don't get it but it just does.

    • @dkdcnone5771

Dude the answer is in your fake analysis. The Chiefs sold out and stopped the run because they knew the qb couldnt beat them. Everyone tries to make it out like it’s rocket science or something when it is very simple. Plus Mccafrey touched the ball 30 times. Abandoned the run? Give me a break

    • @MrDavidknigge

The rub wasn't abandoned until near the end of regulation. It had, however, been successfully controlled, with a negative rush analytic. The big difference is the defense switched to man on the blitzes. The result was ineffective running and passing.

It threw me for a loop when Mahomes had a couple of design runs. Really the only time he runs is to escape pressure. Maybe it's just me not able to watch Chiefs games from start to finish due to my work schedule, but I haven't really seen a Mahomes designed run since Superbowl 54 when he ran for the first touchdown on an RPO. I know I'm wrong and that there have been more designed runs for him, but it is a rarity to see a design run for him. And quite frankly it was a very pleasant surprise.

I wasn't really surprised to use Bosa's over aggressiveness or the 49ers defensive rules against them in the second half and overtime. It's what Andy Reid does. The play that scored the winning TD was a variation of the play they used to score two late TD's against the Eagles in SB 57 known as "Corn Dog." Unlike Corn Dog, "Tom and Jerry" used the same motion by he receiver, but also had an option for a shovel pass in the middle if the Defensive end stayed outside. Bosa crashed hard inside AGAIN, which left Mahomes plenty of room to roll out to the right. The corn dog motion presnap allowed Mecole Hardman to be WIDE open for an easy catch to run into the end zone untouched toe the game winner.

Keeping both Sneed and Jones is the priority. It is possible that the 3 highest paid players (Mahomes, Sneed, Jones) all take a 10% haircut in order for Sneed and Jones to stay together. Next cap level down expect Kelce to restructure as necessary with MVS taking a pay cut to avoid being released...if all goes as described, CAP would be restructured with room for a free agent and without creating long term dead cap issues. Sneed + McDuffie = 1 + 1 = 3. If the team stays together and wins their third SB in a row, the endorsements will be worth 10X more than any salary increase elsewhere. The smart play for those three is to structure under the Cap without mortgaging the future..

What changed the game was SF changed their entire defense in 2nd half and started playing a soft safe defense. There was often 4 defenders in a deep line across the field. You can call them the fourty liners now. KC success comes mainly from short passes and finding openings in the defense so if your defense is playing top notch why change it. It’s like they didn’t wanna give up deep plays and didn’t care about 3-7 yard passes.

sources state Nick Bosa is still chasing the running back to this day

  • @harrymills2770

I'm not sure I like Reid's strategy in SB LIV and LVIII of letting Mahomes and the offense be crushed by dominant 4-man pass rush (and front 7 play, in general) for the first quarter or half or three quarters of both of those games.
Bosa, in particular, broke Mahomes's "pocket clock" in SB LIV. He fixed his internal clock, but Reid still didn't give his tackles much help against dominant EDGE players. They didn't seem to have any answers at all against a fresh SF defense.
But maybe I'm just not subtle enough to understand what happened. Like the Cardinals during the '08 season, running for almost no gain, but sticking with it, to keep them from being 1-dimensional. They pounded the rock just enough to make the defense honor the play fake. They were just good enough to force the LBs to bite, and that was all their dominant passing game needed.
It's almost as if KC knew they had to fail in particular ways, to set themselves up for later in the game.

Its 4th and 1 in the OT right after Pacheco couldnt get a yard up the middle on 3rd down. The 49ers saw that the legs of Mahomes were being used in the 2nd half, and the 49ers HAVE GOTTA KNOW that throughout Mahomes' CAREER, this is EXACTLY the type of play where Mahomes' legs are going to be involved in the playcall! Theres a slim chance theyll just run Pacheco up the middle, and NO CHANCE that on 4th down with the season on the line that theyre running Pacheco on a run that starts with him running left and choosing when to cut upfield!!! Thats just too dangerous for 4th down (can easily be a 2 yard loss) and that is NOT NEARLY KC'S BEST OFFENSIVE OPTION in that dire spot which needs their BEST playcall.
YET NICK BOSA IS STILL CHASING DOWN PACHECO! AND LEAVES MAHOMES AN EASY 1ST DOWN!
Thats either Bosa's major blunder, or Coach Wilkes major blunder if he called that (as Bosa implied after the game) .

Spagnuolo likes to bait his prey. He likes to lull the opposing offense into a false sense of security and confidence and then go for the jugular in the 2nd half.

Can't believe you didn't bring up the 4th and 1 that's the game there, All I can hear is Bill Cower telling Greg Lloyd Rush the Quarterback, Rush the Quarterback and if Mr.Bosa gets him at the 4th and 1 GAME OVER

Target share becomes an option when they have to pull coverage somewhere to protect against Mahomes. They were able to leave people at home with their covers before the switch.

Andy Reid strategizes for the entire season to set opponents up with predicted tendencies they plan for based on film study. Then he pulls the rug out from under them. Other coaches strategize for just the game in front of them. When needed, they also change things up during half-time- either due to necessity or due to taking advantage of their opponents' expectations. Underutilizing Mahomes running during the season vs the Super Bowl was exactly that strategy taking effect. Reid plays chess when other teams are playing checkers, as the saying goes.

This is insane to think about. Mahomes has a secret run game weapon he can pull out any time, and will obviously only use it in the post season when losing so teams can't study anything they've worked on all season. He's going to 3peat.

In the off season you can bet improving the 49er defense will be paramount. They are an inconsistent group just as likely to give up a big play as stop one. To much of their team focus has been defensive line play and their secondary has suffered against both run and pass plays by opponents. As for The Chiefs getting Mahomes another top wide receiver is the obvious move during the off season. They are a young team with Superbowls under their belt and the greatest quarterback the NFL has ever seen.Other teams are going to be forced to have to build their teams with The Chiefs in mind. That will be an asset for The Chiefs because its going to take a while to build a team to effectively deal with them. In the meanwhile The Chiefs will be terrorizing everyone.

All about keeping the game close and making the proper adjustments at halftime. As bad as the Chiefs played in the first half and the 3rd quarter they should’ve been down 21-3 or even 24-3 but they were only down 10-3. That’s huge. If not for the 49ers special teams mistakes the Chiefs don’t gain any momentum to go into overtime or win this game. Why San Fran took the ball first in overtime is still a mystery cuz that sealed their doom.
