That grain is incredible and your decision t add the black with the embellishing wax was perfect. The pale wood can make seeing the grain harder, and you really want to see that one! Great shape for the grain and colour too. I liked the wide rim and undercut. Excellent bowl. I've got some of that bronze wax and used it with some ash I burnt. I think it looks really good with the black dye. I will have to get some of that too!
Cheers mate I was out of my comfort zone with this piece but I think it worked out well in the end, appreciate you taking the time to watch, Cheers From Will 👍
Lovely bowl, Will. I bought my box of intrinsic colours from Martin Saban Smith himself at Harrogate last year. Nice man. Have a great weekend with your family 🌞
That is really nice William mate, the embellishing wax really makes the black pop. I have some blue I must try the next time I ebonise some Spanish Chestnut. Shay
Thanks very much shay I was happy with the result it was an unusual piece of wood being a 90 degree elbow, the grain was really nice, Thanks for watching mate it's much appreciated, Will 👍
Lovely bowl, Will! I really liked the way the color and wax made the grain pop on this piece if ash. On my end, it had a warm hint of purple. Very nice! Thanks!
William, well look at you gone all arty farty my friend lol, there is some smashing grain it that piece of Ash. It turned put really nice buddy well done.
Hi Will. Can I ask Will, if you apply high gloss wax & then a 2nd coat of microcrystaline wax does the piece lose the high gloss shine ? Thanks 👍🏴
Hi Jim it does a very small amount but barely noticeably the reason I put the microcrystalline wax on is because it's hard wearing and finger print resistant and a little water resistant, but if it's a piece that's just going to sit on a shelf the gloss finishing wax is perfect 👌 👍 Will.
On a side note. I am looking to upgrade my lathe. What is the model of your Axminster Professional. What is diameter, distance between centers thread size, morse taper for tail stock, horse power. Thanks
The sad part is that straight woodturners like yourself don't get the views that the burl cutoff and 25 dollars of resin turners get. I guess regular woodturning isn't as exciting. BTW, thanks for calling paper towels what they are instead of kitchen paper lol.
