  • Today the European Union slapped a fourth round of sanctions on an already beleaguered Russian economy. The U.S. and the U.K. say they will soon stop buying Russian oil. Amazon, Coca-Cola and McDonald’s have joined a legion of companies ceasing operations within Russia. But what are the country's citizens being told about the war next door? Christiane speaks with Leonid Volkov, chief of staff to Russia’s jailed opposition leader, Alexey Navalny.

I visit Russian sites and most Russians support Putin. Yes, propaganda is #1 weapon to control people's minds in Russia, but most Russians have imperialistic mentality. Even Navalny (Putin opposition) has imperialistic mentality. The only difference between Putin and Navalny is that the latter fights because of the corruption and low living standards in many parts of Russia.

He can never again go abroad and represent the Russian people as its leader. Ironically he has become another version of Kim Jong Un a national leader who no longer has any legitimate influence abroad. Only difference is the people the Russian people won't stand for being cutoff from the international community not forever. So time is against Putin it may take years but he will need to leave power one way or another.

@pUrP!€ @nArX!$t that maybe so for now however this isn't a quick process it may take a year or two but either way Putins days as Russia president are going to come to an end because of the differences in vision while Putin wants to take the Russia and the world back in time most Russians generally want to move the country forward. This difference in ideology alone is coming to ahead. They can no longer be reconciled. Putin still has the support of the government but its all borrowed time. Having prestige at home is only half of the equation the other is the recognition of the international community and that will take decades to fix. It's not going to happen while Putin is leading even hard liners are going to need to conceded eventually the era of Putin is over.

But it's also a shame for the hell that normal Russians are about to go through because of sanctions and a dwindling currency.
None of these people wanted this war, even if there are some Russians who believe that they support it today, will soon find out the truth. When what thy thought was a "special operation to 'liberate'" Ukraine from gd Nazis (of all things) turns out to be completely wrong, and that the entire country try has been duped, and quite literally treated and made to look the fool. The anger from this alone from a Russian poi t of view, may be what ends up forcing Putin into hiding.
If there is anything I know of Russian, they do not take kindly to being outright lied to and made to look foolish, not only to those in their ciu try that said "I told you so", but from the rest of world!
Lt Col. Alexander Vindman said it perfectly. We need to make the very tough decision today, before they're too late and while those decisions still have a chance of making a difference. As time trudges on, the decisions we see as tough today, will be very simple decisions then, but the effect of those decisions will mean much less later, after political back and forth takes so much time, and in the meantime, even more innocent Ukrainians face a genocide. A genocide that can be prevented to a point with the making of those tough decisions and Making some calculated risk assessments now. Not on a view point in the present, but with a hard look and an educated gamble on where things will be let's say a month from now.

Well...a cadre of highly placed Russian conspirators got Rasputin - and he took A LOT of killing: first they poisoned his wine, then, as I recall the story, they shot him, then they stabbed him, and finally they dragged his still breathing body out & shoved him under icy water - where, apparently, drowning finished him off.🙀

Obviously, I'm missing something here. I thought Navalny was behind bars in Moscow, so it's hard to believe he is tweeting from his jail cell. And, if he's getting these words out to a supporter who is tweeting for him, why aren't Russian jail guards aren't monitoring his calls???? Can someone in the comments enlighten me? Did I miss that Navalny has a spokesperson with whom he's communicating?
