Even though I don't want to see "Smurfs: The Lost Village", I have to agree with AniMat about the animation being more subdued and not too over-the-top like the "Cloudy" and "Hotel Transylvania" franchises, and looking more like the original "Smurfs" comics.
Everyone's saying we shouldn't worry about McQueen since the same thing happened to the King (the blue car) from the first movie, but if you'd notice, HE WASNT IN SMOKE. He was covered in dust and bruises and whatnot, but McQueen is on freaking smoke, and whoever watches car/motorcycle racing knows the motor/engine in smoke is about to burst into flames. So. Yeah.

Smurfs: Potential to be as good as Open Season 1 and Surfs Up
Cars 3: From what I read, they're going back to the style of the first movie (Which I like), and from what I read of the synopsis and what John Lasseter had to say about it being 'emotional' I'm quite excited for the film honestly

Isn't it weird how both films are totally different, Smurfs: The lost village is really colourful and bright, while Cars 3 is really dark.

Based on the Cars 3 teaser, I'm guessing one of two things is gonna happen. Either Lightning is going to die, but it's going to happen at the ending climax. Or this is a prelude that near the beginning, he's going to end up critically injured and be unable to race again, and the movie will focus on him coping with the fact that he can no longer do what he's set his life on. And if that does happen, Cars 3 just might be one of the most mature films to ever come from Pixar. Just thing about that, a Cars film, the third one none the less, being a very mature film with a very serious and intense theme. Suddenly the quote at the end of the teaser makes so much sense.

I understand that Cars 3 will be closer in tone and spirit to the first Cars movie than the second. They even got Randy Newman to return to do the music instead of Michael Giacchino.

Cars 3 could be for the kids who grew up with Cars 1 and now they're teens I was 3 almost 4 when Cars 1 first came out now I'm 14 . I think Cars has matured!

I have two reasons why I think the Smurfs is going to get a lot of money
1. The animation looks better than the first 2 movies
2. the movie has a strong story and the trailer isn't really bad

Look I was born in 2005 I'm 11 now and the 1st cars movie was actually the first movie i ever watched! And if McQueen does die in cars 3 then I will cry.

As a kid, Cars was actually one of my favourite Pixar movies. Sure, I now see the flaws with it and still think the sequel sucked, but it still have a bit of respect for it. So you can tell that seeing Lightning McQueen 'die' was heartbreaking.

The thing about Cars 3 is we aren't really given a lot of context. Its making the viewers think not only 'is he dead?' But also 'how did things come to this?'
Cars 3 and Smurfs: The Lost Village are my favourite movies.
Aside from the major shift in tone, I think a lot of concern is going towards the younger kids that make up most of the Cars fan base. They're used to the Cars movies being more kid friendly, but throwing this in can really throw them off. I've seen a lot of parents online saying they're hesitant to even allow their kids to see the teaser for Cars 3. Some kids have taken it well and wanna see what happens, while others may very well be scarred for life. At least in movies like Lion King or Bambi, the tragic events of Mufasa and Bambi's mom dying happened right in the first movie, so those who have seen those movies would have an idea of what may be in the sequels when it comes to tone. With Cars, as I said, most of its content is more friendly.
I'm hoping Cars 3 will actually have more depth than the previous movies, and I'm hoping for a change in tone. I'm not a big Cars fan, but I'm genuinely curious as to how this movie will play out. I just hope this teaser isn't a scam to get people interested, only for the movie to be as goofy as the last one. :/

I wouldn't mind if they made another Ice Age, but just one more. If they are they should stick to these steps that I heard from someone else.
Step 1: Shira, maybe Peaches and Brooke have to get pregnant and have kids.
Step 2: Focus more on character development and less on gags and cliches
Step 3: If they are going to have another villain, he or she has to be an actual threat
Step 4: Sid stays funny but also shows how he and Brooke are perfect for each other
Step 5: Give Scrat his acorn
Step 6: Roshan the human baby returns as a hunter and reunites with the herd, he doesn't even have to talk
Step 7: It concludes the franchise with the herd frozen in ice surviving the Ice Age. OR maybe a plot twist where they reveal the Ice Age actually took place in the future!
Congratulations! You have the perfect recipe for a conclusion after 5 movies! :D
Lightning could just be have a comeback movie I mean in these teaser pictures I saw Lightning training with this yellow car on a beach or a dock
I'm not sure if you read the description on the Cars 3 teaser, but it confirms McQueen isn't gonna die here. It says the plot of the movie is that him and 2 new characters are trying to get him back into racing. Who knows, maybe he'll die at the end.

The amount of people who actually think he is going to die is shocking honestly. The synopsis does seem interesting, but my thing is that it means almost everything and all of the characters introduced in Cars 2 almost useless, and will probably be ignored in this film. It is my concern about Toy Story 4 as well, with most of the Toy Story 3 characters ignored.
I am looking most forward to Cars 3 out of all the films next year.
Smurfs was such a good cartoon series in the 80s, so I hope this film revives that integrity.
With me, I'm worried this will mean for kids, for them Lighting McQueen is character they loved! And yes they will get over it, but it's gonna hit them hard just like when we had to watch any character we loved go or come close to it.

Well, I think part of the fault with the first two Smurfs films wasn't so much Sony themselves (though don't get me wrong, they were partially to blame), but rather the guy they got to direct both films: Raja Gosnell. He's essentially, as the Nostalgia Critic once put it, 'The Directing Equivalent to Child Syphilis", so of course it would be dead on arrival. With him gone (I THINK, feel free to correct me on this), the focus outcome will likely be leagues better over its predecessors.

I remember when this trailer came on in the past, I watched it with my siblings and we all thought it wasn't true. Meaning that we thought it was somehow a fan made trailer and there wasn't really a Cars 3 happening at all haha. Until we saw that Pixar itself uploaded unto UA-cam.. it was kinda weird for us lol
I hope my little cousins didn't watch this teaser of Cars 3. They love the Cars films and I'm afraid they will get traumatized for this.
Honestly, Lightning McQueen's "death" in the cars 3 teaser trailer is likely trailer bait like Inside Out teaser trailer with other people's emotions (particularly the parents) only they are shown at the end of the movie. However, I could be wrong that this event would happen in the movie as the trailer show or resulted similarly.

I used to love Cars as a kid, it's an ok movie.
Although nowadays I do wonder how cars reproduce
I always assumed they were made, not born. Kind of like how Transformers had creators in Generation 1 or the robots from the Blue Sky film Robots. Makes more sense than the cars actually reproducing like living beings.

No one gives a crap about Cars three? I can't hold my pee for it. Lightning can't catch up with the newer, sleeker cars, and Cruz Ramirez will be his trainer to get him back into the race. Pixar said of themselves this isn't the wrap up for Lightning, they don't know how far this Cars franchise will go. I hope Pixar redeem the Cars franchise.

Funny enough, this is probably the first time you've criticized the Cloudy films and the Hotel Transylvania films in a way that didn't make me cringe. I still don't agree with you in terms of their animation style looking awful, but in this case, I can let that go. Decent job, dude! :)

Everyone won't like the same series not everyone likes the toy story series, not everyone likes the nemo series, not everyone likes the cars series, and not everyone likes the incredibles series just because people don't go on facebook every day and say where is cars 3, where is the incredibles 2, where is frozen 2, doesn't mean people don't want to see it

Cars 3 teaser is way better, It has mystery Where people could theorize what would happen to mcqueen. It grabs Attention Like Toy story 3 did! So I think cars 3 might be Disney/pixars first Movie that Just. might be Pg-13 Or Like Dark PG like Their Old Golden Disney movies. Cars 3 Might Get more Money Then The New Smurfs in Box Office.

I liked the first Cars and although its not great it still feels like a Pixar film. Cars 2 on the other hand is an utter disgrace and only makes more people hate on the original. I think Cars 3 will go back to the first Cars film and have that sort of underdog/rookie story to it which doesn't bother me.

Well, i think the Ice Age films at least are not that bad, but the Sony films are worst than the other films. Cars 3 is going to be maybe better than Cars 2, am i right?

I am not impressed by the Cars 3 trailer, and after Cars 2 I conciously decided to NOT watch any Cars or Cars related films, tv series, shorts or whatever and that includes Planes, I saw that trailer and immediatley saw a DESPERATE attempt in making Cars look serious when after Cars 2 they should've realized that that product should've remained one movie, WHY is John Lasseter so desperate to keep this franchise going? I know Disney wants to sell toys, I get that but they can sell toys with a small project that doesn't taint the reputation Pixar has, why is Pixar wasting resources and time in this? Also if Pixar wanted me to be interested in CARS 3 instead of McQueen they should've killed Matter. That's the character I want to see DEAD.
