This is one of those videos where the more you watch it the more that creative light bulb will go off!!!! Thank you brotha I love the prospective....💪🏾💪🏾
I have been playing nothing but Kimberly since the beta, and I’m not sure why some people think she’s trash. She’s definitely not the best character in the game, but she’s easily somewhere in the middle.
I do think her gameplay revolving around getting LV3 needs some tweaking and it would be nice to have being "random" less of a part of her gameplay. You have to be willing to take risks with her and when you die in this game, you die hard. Great video and analysis. It's good getting a pulse from other Kim players. I agree quite a bit with both you and James Chen.
I'm a platinum Kim player and my issue is that I actually agree with both you and James. What I think needs to happen is instead of normalising Kim to the cast is to make her unique tools more effective and less easily countered with effortless ease. Although I do think the damage nerf needs to be reversed.
I personally think Kim is Mid Tier with heavy optimization. I don't understand how people can say that she's Low Tier with the amount of options that she has. She has can setups where you're plus enough to get a true blockstring from her overhead options forcing you to block high or Drive reversal... Amazing Oki, burnout pressure, meter gain, corner carry, Drive Rush and combo flexibility. Probably the best Oki in the game honestly. Her anti-air damage is also INSANE. Mixing up plus frames and minus frames from Run Stop pressure is its biggest strength imo. It can throw off your opponents timing sometimes and make them actually scared to mash jab if conditioned. The hitbox on her sweep extends beyond her hurtbox making it a decent counter poke option despite it being -10. If they did revert the beta change it would huge but yeah that's in the past. She has all this and much much more... Great video bro. Funnest character in the game for me.
She is low tier simply based on the amount of characters you can debate she’s better than and there just ain’t many but low tier in newer games ain’t comparable to low tier in older fgs. Those character were more close to unplayable and had no real reason to play them especially in old gear and marvel titles but she’s got some cool stuff and utility and is simply fun to play.
And the point to talking about how she is in comparison to the cast of a good measure of how good or bad she is. It's not she's terrible is just everyone else is very good
12:05 that akuma medium kick looks stubby but it’s hitting further than Kims by a good amount of top of course having the dr option or any buffer for that matter
@@JayFlacko walk speed is the factor that makes that move that much stronger with special/DR cancel attached to it. Sure, it can be tip ranged better ok, established. But can be whiff punished easier (29f total vs 25f total) and is also 1f slower(8f) AND -6f on block with no cancel of course. So again sure I agree to a degree. Otherwise I still stand firm on what I said. There's a reason why Akuma isn't stable and this is part of that reasoning.
@@ShinKensou but as a Kim I don’t find myself ever throwing out a Crmk in neutral like that and play more around her lk MK and HP buttons as there little to no payout so even if it’s less likely to get whiff punished I also don’t get much other that jab bond but if u do get punished they get 30% to corner carry and knockdown on a character with no wake-up
@@JayFlacko DR crMK is a thing that you can use similar to Aki or even JP. So at that point it's a choice on the player's behalf what you want to use and how you want to utilize it. Kim get +5 and +9 on hit for a crMK which is pretty huge all things considered for the character. Again it's just the utility for the tool and how you use it.
@@ShinKensou yea 100% out of DR it’s awesome . I just meant raw in footsies moreso, definitely the go to dr button to open all other options both on block or hit and just a much safer option over what most Kim’s do risking it and just sliding or teleporting at random moments
This video makes me want to try some of this. But i definitely don't think that the high placement Kimberly will ever be the rule. I think she's an egomaniac character. Basically an extremely high level requirement character. Those who do well with her are likely the exception than the rule.
1:11:17 - lol and this is exactly why I say this. I don't feel good when I play Kim, I don't feel smart when I play Kim, I just feel exhausted regardless of victory and defeat.
@@nowhre I mean I get it. Like I said, I think she's an egomaniac character- essentially a character that requires a high skill level to utilize beyond their surface lack of ability, similar to someone Kensou excels with - Chipp. She's basically the Sean of this game. It's not impossible to win with her, but it's incredibly difficult, and for the average player even victory feels unrewarding with her. But I appreciate Kensou for introducing some ideas and solutions. I stopped playing SF6 because it felt exhausting playing Kimberly but some of these ideas, especially the vagabond edge and punish counter setup makes me want to attempt grinding again. But maybe some day when I have more free time. Right now it's not a priority to me.
Also I love doing Overhead to cr.jab rive rush into cr.jab then link cr.hp full combo, I never see other kims doing that but you get tons of reward for the overhead because of it.
Kimberly is low tier for one simple and fair reason. She hasn’t proven herself in the test of time. SF6 has been out for over a year and in all that time I don’t;t think Kimberly has won a single major or been consistently picked in tournament. Consistency is the important word there. She is a very volatile character that requires you to know more and play better than your opponent. Her low damage means on average you need to touch your opponent more, having to make even one more read than the enemy loses you matches. It’s the same problem Jamie has and why you never see him in tournament, even less than Kim. And her poor defense means you’re more susceptible to being mauled in the corner. That plus basically unfair setup resource mechanics make her below mid tier to me, even if just barely. That being said, she is really fun. Very interesting gameplay. I just don’t like the narrative around her. People will say she’s good and really dumb and braindead to play, but to me, having to work so much harder to condition your opponent means she’s one of the most technical characters in the game.
The copium in this video. Its okay to recognize kimberly isnt that good and just say you like the character and will keep playing. Than rationalize all her mediocore options. If you want a mixup character play jp, blanka, aki and they do it better than kimberly for less effort, less meter dependency and more damage. If you want a speedster character play cammy and she does it better than kimberly having a actual divekick that will crush/evade normals in the mid to close range than some slow ass hop that you can just jab after you block and stop all her options. Kimberly is a largely gimmicky knowledge/reaction test character. Her left right twitter mixups are only good against low level/ bad players who dont just hold parry. Yes the kimberly can then just start throwing but then you are over thinking on a mixup that doesnt even do that much damage. For a mixup that is good you want to autopilot the sequence as much as possible with it having low variability. Parry overcomplicates the situation for kimberly, and its just a fact. Her neutral is very lackluster. Okay she has fast walkspeed but she cant clip you into death with a low forward drive rush. Most of her buttons are stubby as hell. Her teleports are gimmicks to again low level players. A highl evel player will react jab her out of ex teleport or dp it. Her drive rush is not that great and is one of the semi easier ones to check. She has no reversal so her getting knockdown is rough. YES SHE HAS good corner game but DAM NEAR EVERYONE HAS GOOD CORNER GAME IN SF6. A throw loop is pretty much all you need for a good corner game in this game because the guessing becomes so much. Kimberly has nothing going for her she isnt complete trash but she isnt some secret monster waiting for "one player" to figure her out. James chen is largely correct with his analysis

@@ShinKensou Nothing to do with being condescending or defeatist. Just fully recognizing that kimberly isnt some secret top tier and she has alot of problems.
