Day 1) So... I put Timothy Hay in Floppers food bowl instead of pellets like usual. Floppers looked at the bowl, than looked at me, than stomped his foot really hard. I cant stop laughing cause I know the rabbit is saying to me, "WTF IS THIS CRAP?"
As somebody who raises rabbits, these videos are really good for helping teach buyers about rabbit care as well as learn stuff myself. These videos are really well written and have great examples that make sense to everybody.
My rabbit gets around 1/4 cup of a low quality pellet. I'm working on switching her onto Oxbow Essentials pellets, and I'm slowly lowering her amount of pellets to 1/8 cup, it's healthier for them to eat more vegetables
My rabbit is pretty young (I'm not sure how old, but I can't tell the gender yet and he/she is still really small and fluffy) and a lot of what is displayed in this video goes against what the pet store owner told me. According to her, I can't give my rabbit any greens and it should get a handful of pallets twice a day. Also, she said I should give it vitamin C supplement in it's water. So here's my question: Is feeding different for young rabbits?
it is yes : D young rabbit only allowed to eat hay HAY and more hay then some pellets :) I got the same advice aswell. but when your bunny are 6 months old I think u can feed them leafy green and some treat
Do your research, maybe that's why your here, but your store owner is only concerned about selling u more pellet, leafy greens are important for balance in diet, and never stop the hay!
wwbunnyaa I got him to a vet for a checkup yesterday. He's about 2,5 months old and I'm feeding him special junior pallets now with an overflow of hay. The vet said it would be best to introduce him to greens after 5 months. And yes, I've done excessive research. Because of that my bunny is healthy and happy ^^
Yes. They need to grow well, so you have to feed them more fattening foods like alfalfa hay. You also should free-feed them their pellets. Before you start feeding them a bunch of other foods (like veggies) do some research, k? Bunnies are really sensitive, so they need the correct types of veggies, and fruits. Have fun! They're super sweet animals :)
My rabbits only get pellets friday til sunday (around the amount in this video), the rest is hay, and of course fresh grass mixed in during summer. They also gets carrots, apple and dried bread few times a month.
They go crazy for cilantro and it's cheap. Great food for them. In the spring and summer I am happy I have raspberry plants. Also we have tons of black berry plants. They love the leaves.
Yes I remember going through a lot of this with my guinea pig when she was still around. I have hedgehogs now but when I move out on my own in an apartment in a few years I am considering a bunny as a pet among some other choices so I am doing my research. My other options are cat, dog, guinea pigs, and betta fish. I have owned a guinea pig before and a dog as kid, my older sister has a cat, and I have had more than my fair share of fish growing up. Which of make great pets for an apartment just have to remember to either puppy proof, kitten proof, or bunny proof the apartment when I get ready to get my pet.
I try my best not to give them too much treat ..but so hard, since they beg for it ... and their cute face I just cant say no. I give them each 1 thin slice of carrot (I have 2 rabbits) but sometime two slices since they beg like crazy, so I hope 2 slices of carrot wont make them fat. Also where I live don't sell timothy hay, I try to search everywhere for it even online but they don't ship to where I live, so I can only find meadow hay. I hope meadow hay is ok for them
Well, I hate to tell you, but you must tell them "no", they cannot live eating too many treats. I am not saying 1 or 2 carrot slices are too much, I am saying you must tell them "no". Keep in mind, it is for the greater good. And trust me, I know exactly how you feel. :)
You can try ready grass or oat hay. If you have a garden with grass free from pesticides and another animal dropping you can dry it for your bunnies. Is very healthy (homemade ready grass) and what they would eat in the wild, but introduce it to your bunnies slowly.

We "adopted" a lop+meat rabbit cross and he has organic hay from a meadow outside of town, but he prefers his cup of pellets, herbs and weeds. But i never feed him clover/alpha alpha or cale, kohlrabi leaves, china cabbage together with the pellets.
What you a referring to is a condition called Enterotoximia. I though I would vary my rabbits diet years ago and ended up killing 5 within2 days. Just managed to catch a young lop-ear today but wont make the same mistake. My original Flemish Giant weighing 8.5 kgs loved milk arrowroot biscuits as the occasional treat. She was more like a dog and roamed the house with 2 adult dogs. One was a 45 kgs staffy x bully x pitbull and he never harmed any of my pets.
Hello! thank you for all the wonderfull information, I have an inquiry, how much apple is too much? sometimes i give my bunny one apple core, is it too much?
Hi! I can attest to broccoli causing gas and GI stasis in my rabbit. I was feeding her broccoli rabe, thinking it was dandelion greens (new bunny owner who was still learning at the time!) and after a week it caused so much bloating that I had to take her to the emergency vet to be treated for GI stasis. I can believe that a small amount of broccoli occasionally would be ok, but please please please do not feed large amounts - it WILL cause serious issues and if untreated death.
Hello. What about passion fruit leaves? I have some plant in my apartment and I saw he went to the plan and started eating the leaves. I checked the internet and I saw that the leaves contain a lot of vitamins. Should I give him a leave a day?
My rabbit gets lettuce once a day and pellets once A day. I give her carrots as treats once or twice every week and she also enjoys the Timothy hay every once or twice a week in large portions.I give my rabbit raisins as treats once a month so I'll give her about 3 to 4 monthly and every day my rabbit and I play around for about two hours
These videos are only talking about adult rabbits but didn't mention about bunnies who are a month or so old. A young bunny, aside from eating unlimited hay should also have unlimited pellets especially if it is sick.
My bunny is a little less then 3 months old and I feed him unlimited timothy hay, a bit of alfalfa, some homemade grass hay, a handful of veggies and an eighths cup of oxbow young rabbit pellets every morning and evening, and sometimes a very little slice of a carrot for a treat. I started feeding him veggies a little early because his mom ate veggies while she was nursing her baby bunnies. Am I feeding him right?
Sounds like mostly a good diet for a rabbit, but do not feed him one handful of lettuce, cucumber, pepper, tomato and that stuff because it's too much sugar in it. You can give him spenach, ruccola and some herbs instead. :)
Are papaya " digestive enzymes" the same as papaya tablets? None of my health food stores carry papaya tablets, just " papaya digestive enzymes" , are these safe?
I also feed Blinky some Vegetables is that like for treats? Because he hardly eats his pellets. In my country there arnt any raccoons here so is the grass still ok?
I used to give my rabbits yogurt drops that was made for rabbits and guinea pigs. Occasionally one of them would steal a nibble of my cat's dry food and I had to start keeping the cat food on top of the scratching-post tower.
So my rabbit is about 5 years old, and I got my raising-tips from my dad who also raised rabbits as a kid... And the only mistake he made was his diet. I've always given him hay and such, but I've never measured his food. I just have pellets out for him. What should I do I order to change this? Is it ok to go straight into measuring or do I take the process slower? Please help
I have 2 small bunny a Dutch dwarf Rex female and a polish Netherland Dwarf mix male. I don't know if I'm giving them to much vegetables or not enough... How much vegetables do you actually give bunnies that are small like that I don't want to overfeed or under feed them?
I have a question I was eating grapes in my bedroom and I was letting my rabbit run around and get his exscersize and my rabbit came up and started chewing the grape stem from my plate. I didnt know if it was safe for him to eat so I took it away from him. Are grape stems ok for a young rabbit?
Hi there, My bunnies do not or like hardly drink water. I have never seen them take in water myself, like ever. Wat could be the reason? Also, I have two males, both have not been spayed, how can I litter train them?
I need advice... I have a holland lop doe 4 months and a Netherland dwarf buck 3 months which I got them separated time. I trained them to potty in a box and they were doing a good job. I worked with them so they get bonded, but once they did it they are pooping everywhere in their corral. Why has this happened?
Hello. Pls give me some advice.. i just got a bunny and she is 2yp. She is rehomed. My new bunny only eat one brand of hay and pallet. My new bunny never eat veggies. Hello ma'am am from India. . I just got 2 bunnys they are probably 2-3 months old i guess...I keep my rabbits indoor... my question is that.. i provide a a lot of fresh hey, cabbage, beens, spinach, and fruit pills... but They love other things than hey... n they eat a lot n then sleep.. n then they wakeup and again they eat and again they go to sleep... what should be the time period between the meal..?
so I live in ib and there isn't many predators and all my neighbors stay up outside 2 do their garden and such so what I'm wondering is if it's safe to have them just me only in my backyard without any cages or without any canals because he is a very fast animal and the only Predator he's had as a cat and he ran away so that's my only question is it safe to keep my bunny outside 2 free roam???
Hey. I don't know if you mentioned it in this video, but I was wondering who often you should give rabbits leafy greens? Would I feed it vegetables everyday?
Thanks for the veggie in formation but what about fruits though??? 🤔🤔🤔 My Netherland dwarf bunny like eating strawberry leaves and is that ok for the bunny if I would like an answer asap please I need help???
I'm worried if I can bring a bunny out in the backyard. There's a plastic fence around my backyard and past that is animal farm. The owner keeps birds on the other side of the fence. I don't know if it's okay to let him run around, with my supervision, or just keep him inside. It's like a swampy area as well.
My bunny tips over his food bowl so he can get to the colored circles that come with this food pellets I'm a little worried I don't think he even eats the rest I don't want him to get malnourished and it gets pretty expensive because he pours all the rest into his poop. (Also he's extremely picky he won't eat ANY veggies) any ideas Or advice would be much appreciated
Our "rabbit savy" vet keeps fussing at us for giving our bunnies anything aside from hay. They are very firm that our bunnies should eat hay and only hay. Now... I fully admit we give them some things like small pieces of carrots and the condensed grass pellets as treats. But I hope in time that info can be more solid across the board like it is for dogs and cats. Another problem we run into is that the "hay" we buy here in the Netherlands is nowhere near thick or green and it very very pricey. We spend 80 euros (about a hundred dollars) a month on hay alone for our bunnies vs back home (in the states) we could get green, thick timothy hay for $20 a month. Tyvm for the videos though. As a semi new bunny owner I appreciate all the help.
I can understand the in the wild thing but also look at how many give dogs or cat dogfood and catfood alone and surely they dont eat that in the wild. I am super sorry to hear about the loss of your bunny. I have ended up caving a bit and giving my bunnies seeds/pellets everyday but in moderation. Thanks for the help. Have a good one.
My bunny doesnt eat its hay well. He's 4 months old and i have Timothy Hay for him. The guy that had him before me gave me the timothy hay and the bag was almost gone but now it seems like he doesnt want to eat any.
I recently got timothy hay for my rabbit. I was a bit uneducated as to the hay part, as the petshop always gave me this hay that my rabbit did not eat at all, together with rabbit food. So I finally got timothy hay, and the first night my rabbit ate some of it. But now it's like he doesn't want to eat hay again. I made toys with it as well, did not help a lot. How can I get him to eat more hay? Or maybe I should ask, how much hay does he normally have to eat a day?
I was feeding my rabbit 1/4 of a cup of pellets but my vet told me to only give him 1/8. Im confused bc all the videos I've seen say to feed 1/4 of a cup.
Please i need help i live in a country were there is no grass hay and my rabbit is one and half years old when he was a baby i give him alfalfa hay and now i give him corn hay and he is a very happy bunny but is corn hay bad for him????
hay availabe all time is right, but greens should also be available every single minute! that's important for the rabbit! (sorry for my english grammar)
PLEASE HELP!! I am leaving for a weekend and my friend is coming over to take care of my bunny, but I don’t think that she can play with him for 4 hours. Is it VERY necessary to play with your rabbit for 4 hours EVERY SINGLE DAY???
+a Welschmeyer I know timothy hay is amazing for rabbits i dont know about brone hay but timothy hay is one of the best hays to give ur rabbit so i really think you should keep them on timothy hay :) hope this helped
They didn't say at what age you can begin to give your bunny vegetables. I didn't know until a breeder told me to wait until they are six months. Young bunnies' digestive systems are different and it's best to stick with hay, Timothy and Alfalfa and pellets. Hop to it!
Excessive protein and calories resulting in too much weight gain Amanda, I was surprised myself when I first learned that hay should be the majority of a bunnies diet. Its turned out to be costly as well, timothy hay from Walmart costs about $2 a pound, other hay suppliers online cost about the same.
My 2 months old dutch-lionhead rabbit has a very smelly poop and urine, usually cecotropes and sometimes diarrhea after eating fresh cut hay grasses. Maybe I should just left the grasses dry for a few days before making my rabbit eat them.
I have a question: I have a Rex rabbit he eats everything else but pellets I can’t get him to eat pellets for anything. But he will eat his hay his greens but not pellets. What should I do?
Does anyone know if the hey would effect anyone with a grass allergy? I'm looking into future pets and have the allergy, so I may have to cross rabbits off if it does.
+Victoria Tur honestly its not good that hes not eating hay u should trick him into eating it but he could just not be interested either way trick him into eating it :)
If it's timothy and other meadow grass varieties it's fine (not only the small soft straws like them in a lawn) . Just make sure that your rabbit has some sticks to chew on and not only the grass.
My sister in law's boyfriend always brought in fresh grass he picked outside and they gave it to him often when we weren't looking. I'm glad they don't live with us anymore, hahaha!
Also, K.C doesn't like carrots. Loves small servings of kale a few times a week and raisins are a big no-no - too sticky and rabbits don't have dentists or can tell them if they have a toothache.
I need help. I have 8 weeks bunny. When I give him too much pelets he gets diarrhea, when I give him 1 spoon (30gr.) he stay hungry. He has hey all the time.
***** Actually, it depends how young they are. People say that you shouldn't feed them much vegetables/fruit when they are babies, but once they are full grown a carrot a day is fine.

My rabbit is a baby and is severely underweight and skinny. Should I limit his pellets or give him as many as he wants?
So I feel like my bunny does not like hay. So you are saying if I give him a good qualify third cut Timothy hay he won't starve?
I give him red leaf lettuce, cilantro, mint and parsley.
Sounds great. :)
she always kisses thr bunnies!! i love it 😂😍😍😂🤣🤣
Hi
Aww bean at about 3:05 is ❤️❤️❤️
Amazing videos with awesome hosts also!❤️Can’t get better🐰❤️
How many leafy greens should a bunny have, they don't specify in the video.
I give mine a small bowl ful a day
Depends on the breed general rule of thumb is one cup packed greens per 5lbs of body weight.
Hi there,
My bunnies do not or like hardly drink water.
I've just recently got two rabbits...they are maybe 1 month old so I wanna know what we can actually feed them other than pellets and hay.
Hello. Pls give me some advice..
i just got a bunny and she is 2yp.
She is rehomed.
My new bunny only eat one brand of hay and pallet. My new bunny never eat veggies.
Previous Owner also said that she is not potty trained and never succeed in potty training for a while so she sell it to me.
I tried transition food but how can i let my new 2yo bunny eat veggies.
I tried everything but she still dont eat veggies.
Do you have to feed bunnys and rabbits leafy greens?
So if i grow a patch of grass and keep it clean from contamination, do i have to dry it or can the rabbit just eat it?
Hey. I don't know if you mentioned it in this video, but I was wondering who often you should give rabbits leafy greens? Would I feed it vegetables everyday?
yes! everyday :)
Normally at the morning you feed it Little leafs and then at night give them salad
I highly discourage feeding iceberg lettuce to rabbits. They can get diarrhea easily just from eating them.
I remember reading that it has something in it that's toxic to them and can be dangerous it eaten in high amounts. I stay clear of it
**when you feed 1 cup of food of my rabbit a day** coff coff
Thanks for your advice. But one question is there any harmony between man and rabbit food list?
BUNNIES RULE LETS GO I LOVE BUNNIES MORE THEN ANYONE YAS
my rabbit only likes yellow apple,i tried to give him carrot, romaine lettuce and broccoli but he doesn't like those. is it bad? what should i do?
Thanks for the veggie in formation but what about fruits though???
🤔🤔🤔 My Netherland dwarf bunny like eating strawberry leaves and is that ok for the bunny if I would like an answer asap please I need help???
I'm worried if I can bring a bunny out in the backyard. There's a plastic fence around my backyard and past that is animal farm. The owner keeps birds on the other side of the fence. I don't know if it's okay to let him run around, with my supervision, or just keep him inside. It's like a swampy area as well.
So if I just went in my garden and got a chunk of grass will it work
I need some help my rabbit will not eat a lot of hay and i have try everything and the same with pellets. Does anyone have any ideas plzs
Google "rabbit talk" it's an online forum with many knowledgeable people.
Haha thank you, I think you answered it for me in the last part...
I was feeding my rabbit 1/4 of a cup of pellets but my vet told me to only give him 1/8. Im confused bc all the videos I've seen say to feed 1/4 of a cup.
How many times do i have to feed my rabbits by pellets?
Please i need help i live in a country were there is no grass hay and my rabbit is one and half years old when he was a baby i give him alfalfa hay and now i give him corn hay and he is a very happy bunny but is corn hay bad for him????
Idk why I love these 2
Is butter lettuce good for them?
hay availabe all time is right, but greens should also be available every single minute! that's important for the rabbit!
(sorry for my english grammar)
PLEASE HELP!!
I am leaving for a weekend and my friend is coming over to take care of my bunny, but I don’t think that she can play with him for 4 hours.
Is it VERY necessary to play with your rabbit for 4 hours EVERY SINGLE DAY???
is it ok to use grass instead of hay cause its not so available here
i have my rabbits on timothy hay.. there is a near by farm selling BROME HAY a lot cheaper. would this be a good hay for an every day feed?
+a Welschmeyer I know timothy hay is amazing for rabbits i dont know about brone hay but timothy hay is one of the best hays to give ur rabbit so i really think you should keep them on timothy hay :) hope this helped
My lion head doesn't seem fond of hay. I tried timothy and alfalfa but he only likes romaine lettuce, but only the green parts. Very picky fellow.
I love all of your videos I'm getting two 3month old miniature dwarf rabbits boys I'm so incited but I will do what you told me
They didn't say at what age you can begin to give your bunny vegetables. I didn't know until a breeder told me to wait until they are six months. Young bunnies' digestive systems are different and it's best to stick with hay, Timothy and Alfalfa and pellets. Hop to it!
How many times a day should i feed my rabbit?
What would the effects be if the hay that's stated at the bottom of the pyramid is replaced with pallets?
Hay and healthy greens
along with fresh water everyday is perfect Colleen.
Does anyone know if the hey would effect anyone with a grass allergy? I'm looking into future pets and have the allergy, so I may have to cross rabbits off if it does.
is vitakraft product like alfalfa sticks bad for rabbits?
My bunny loves fresh grass from the floor but will not touch hay. His hat is always in a hay rack and in his litter box. Should I be worried?
+Victoria Tur honestly its not good that hes not eating hay u should trick him into eating it but he could just not be interested either way trick him into eating it :)
if you cant get ahold of hay, is a diet primarily made of grass ok?
If it's timothy and other meadow grass varieties it's fine (not only the small soft straws like them in a lawn) . Just make sure that your rabbit has some sticks to chew on and not only the grass.
thank
My sister in law's boyfriend always brought in fresh grass he picked outside and they gave it to him often when we weren't looking. I'm glad they don't live with us anymore, hahaha!
Also, K.C doesn't like carrots. Loves small servings of kale a few times a week and raisins are a big no-no - too sticky and rabbits don't have dentists or can tell them if they have a toothache.
about how many cups of greens should the average rabbit have?
I need help. I have 8 weeks bunny. When I give him too much pelets he gets diarrhea, when I give him 1 spoon (30gr.) he stay hungry. He has hey all the time.
I have two rabbits I love them is it okay if I give them one baby carrot a day each or is that to much?
***** Actually, it depends how young they are. People say that you shouldn't feed them much vegetables/fruit when they are babies, but once they are full grown a carrot a day is fine.
My 2 bunnies love kail and I give them 1 raisin for a treat if they are really nice to each other or any visiters!
