Thank you SO much for this! We bought bunnies about week and a half ago and I have been looking for this info! I'm very new to rabbits and need all the help I can get. I will be definitely printing those sheets out for the kids (homeschooling moms never miss an opportunity for a lesson).
Seriously these videos and your blog have been so helpful! I got my rabbits about a month ago and ive been able to refer to your site to check what's correct to do. I took them to get spayed last week and because I'd read your website in preparation, when one of them stopped drinking and eatingafterwards i knew to contact the vet as soon as I noticed. She's fine and back to normal now, yay! Thanks so much for posting and sharing all of this information with us.
Watched this even if I have had bunnies since I was eight years old. I'm adopting a bigger bunny and had always had dwarf bunnies so watched this so I can get it into my head the amount of food I need to give a big boy.
Amy, So happy I found you!! Geeze, I've been making a lot of mistakes:( You were a rabbit in a former life, lol. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge. Subscriber from Florida.
Great videos, far more enthusiastic than Lennon The Bunny. What kind od diet would you recommend for 6 years old bunny Piki with dental disease and couldn't eat hay. I am giving him twice a day meloxydil. He eats quality pellets, dandelion roots, lots of water.
WoW you are the best so far on info about feeding rabbits very good job girl your better then all the old farts like me they all tell you not to over feed your rabbits and they have automatic feeders in there cages so that what I did wow and they tell you to feed them alfalfa hay good job I didn't have money to buy it because its high price here over $30.00 a small bale
ik Hay is very healthy for them but unfortunately in our country hay isnt available at all , we've done everything to search for it but cant find em , m really sad :(( same goes for pellets
Same here, i keep them on leafy greens only they're going so fine with it but idk maybe this will effect them in the future so i feel insecure abt the HAY thing
I picked up the runt of a bunny litter, 5 weeks old, I was wondering how much alfalfa hay I can give to him? Whether I should mix up the hay, maybe a 50/50 alfalfa/orchard grass mix or can I give him all alfalfa hay for a couple months? Is that safe/healthy for a young rabbit?
Rabbit eating hay during the whole video 😀😋. Thank you for this detailed video, very well explained. I think many rabbits eat too many pellets and cereals.
Not sure if you'll see this because this is an older video but I'm having a hard time to get my 3 year old Holland Lop to eat hay. He has always had unlimited amounts but I rarely actually see him eat it. I know he eats some, but not nearly as much as he should be, by a mile. I try to make up for this by giving him high quality hay-based kibble and treats, and lots of fresh greens. He seems like a very happy bunny but I still have concerns that this may be hurting him long-term. Do I just bite the bullet and give him tough love and give him literally only hay? And thanks for your videos, I've only recently come across them and they are very informational.
Hi i am so happy i found your videos, im a new bunny mom and i didnt realize how much bunnies need and i quickly learned that i didnt know anything anout having a bunny lol with that being said im so happy for finding you and all your informative info. I do have a question about feeding pellets.. is there a better time to feed them to ur bunny? I work 3-11p and i usually feed him when i get home from work as im not an early morning person is that ok? And also just to be clear feeding pellets just once a day correct? TIA from Maine
Nice video as always! I am very allergic to timothy and meadow hays so I use orchard as the main hay and oat hay as the treat hay. Am I providing a healthy combination?
Hi new Rabbit owner. My bunny eats the timothy hay, no issue. However, would it be more beneficial for him if i mixed in other hays with the timothy hay?
my female (spayed) holland lop rabbit is 7 months old and weighs 4.5 pounds. i feed her unlimited hay and a handful of baby spring mix twice a day with 2 baby carrots and dried basil, parsley, rosemary, oregano and thyme sprinkled in and a hidden banana chip. i occasionally give her a handful of young rabbit pellets from oxbow, i know i should probably feed adult food but my mom bought a big bag of the young rabbit food bc she didn't know. is this healthy?
My bunny is weird apparently XD Once I wanted to give her a tiny bit of banana and she ran away like if I was holding a cat. A while later I had a thin slice of lime, and she came super curious and gave it a lick, she didn't like it though but damn she ran away from the banana. Btw, I'm confused with her, sometimes she's so ok with me around, she lays down all stretched land relaxed or plays with me, but then I come to her later (a few hours later) to feed her or whatever and she run's away like if I was a predator and hides. Idk what's wrong and that worries me. She has a terrace besides my room for herself, I often keep the door open so she can run around my room too and sometimes I open everything so she can explore the house, I just feel a little nervous she can bit on something and get hurt, I'm still working on making it safe for her.
@@Azzarinne Hey thank you! Hmmm it’s happening less and less as time goes. Last time she ran away scared I was holding a big box and walked near her, but when she saw it was me she just laid on the floor again like nothing happened. Lately she’s behaving more or less like a little dog, I can play with her, pet her and she’s at ease. Thank you for the response!!
Rabbits get super spooked easy. I can fold some laundry and Apollo runs like an Eagle has entered the room. Don't take it personal and just be aware of scaring your bunny and lots of petting to tell them they are OK z
I hope you reply but how many greens a day can my rabbit have? Not just percentage like cup ounces amount please. Also if I were to not feed my rabbit pebbles for a while how much greens would replace that?
@@KaraNicoleR I was talking about if I didn't feed my rabbit pellets. How many vegetables would I feed her? Im asking her a question so mind your own business instead of being rude
I am new to the bunny mom life, lol! I have a 8 month old Holland Lop and we are using your videos to start training him but I see lots of bunny youtubers feeding their rabbits like a dog. Ex, a bowl of greens like twice a day. When so I start doing this? He is on a grass hay diet with pellets right now and the occasional spinach/lettuce, but I dont know when I should transition into giving him a bunny salad (if you will)
The transition starts at 1 month good quality pellet, 1 month and a half alfafa hay, and 2/3 months introducing slowly vegetables with more fiber (list on the internet) and keeping a close eye on their poop.Because they can have a upset stomach easy. I know that to rabbits, If they do not poop and starts to become conscerning you can give pinnaple, Just a little.
I was wondering if rabbits can eat lentil plant leaves? I grow lentil sprouts for myself to nom on I’m curious on if I plant lentils if my bunny can eat the greens? I understand that lentils themselves aren’t good for bunnies but are the leaves from the plant okay?
My daughter found a lop bun hopping around our apartment complex. He was really dirty and fur is matted. We’ve had him for 2 weeks now and he finally is looking better. He’s still loading lot of fur and I don’t know how to get his mats out. I try brushing him but it’s still little mats. Any suggestion. He also doesn’t like it when I use the brush. I make sure to do it softly and not down to his skin. He had poopy butt and mats there on his bum. I was able to remove the mats there and he’s finally clean there. I appreciate your videos.
My rabbit is a minn Rex and he runs doesn’t let me hold him or brush him he mostly runs free in my bedroom but at night in his cage and if I go out he is picky any information to figure out how I can get him to let me hold him once in a while I can pet him
I know you probably weren't asking me, but rabbits dont need salt licks. You can get them toys such as willow stick ball and wood chews. Willow is also really good for rabbits. :) hope this helped (:
hi! how much water should a rabbit drink per a day? my rabbit is 3 lbs and i think she is drinking a lot, is there anything as drinking too much water?
Another question I have is can you give buns people dried fruits? Dried unsweetened banana? Or dried papaya, apricots, and cranberries. I also noticed a lot of snacks sold contain pea flakes, corn or seeds. I’ve seen some people say it’s ok to give them these and others say no. What if any of theses ok?
I am curious to know what the difference between Timothy Hay and Western Timothy Hay. What is the difference between them? Is one better then the other? I tried to Google the answer but couldn't find a straight answer.
hi i'm new to keeping rabbits ...someone told me rabbits can eat bran flakes [ breakfast cereal ] is this true ...i don't want to feed unsuitable foods .hope you have time to reply .thanks .
If you're not sure what fresh foods you can give your rabbit, ask yiur vet! I thought yiu could feed a rabbit any kind of fresh vegies. Nope! I learned that some foods can make your bunny sick! Like avocados and onions. Why I thought that was, when I was growing up, we always had outdoor bunnies in hutches. My mom would give them stuff from her garden. So yea, check to make sure they will not make your rabbit sick. Also, our outdoor rabbits only got pellets. We fed them grass.
Ok so my bunnies have a bottle of water and a bowl the MAIN ISSUES that I have are that 1. They seem to prefer the bottled water 2. They are part lionhead and end up with soooooo much hair in the bowl and im scared they'll ingest too much hair. I don't want gi stasis. I do give them both options though. I let them choose.
Good information, but the baby voice and the word bunny was used in like every 3rd sentence. It was just hard to get through because of the aforementioned preferences.
Thank you for helping us all understand rabbits better. And your rabbit is beautiful!
This is so helpful and gets me back on track! THANK YOU!
I really like your videos, they are very informative. Keep them coming
Thanks, will do!

Can i use grass from my backyard
Rabbits should be consuming Timothy hay
Hi me and my bunny Theodore love your vids
How long can hay stay in the box..should it be change
Can you please update your links? Some don't work, takes me to a referral page.

When bonding a rabbit, do you put them in the same enclosure? Then just wait?
My dwarf bunny is 3 lbs but he may be overweight. He's a polish mix and im not sure what his ideal weight should be. I've been giving him 2 tbsp/day.
Hi - can I feed greens to my 5 month old rabbit. He is not eating hay at all.
Thank u ma'am I have a bunny also

I have used burgess excel for baby rabbits. There is also burgess excel for adults. I recommend burgess personally

I wouldn't due to the sugar and salt content x

Bell pepper is ok for rabbits but should be in moderation or as a treat. once every week
Extremely well presented. Information seems reliable . I don't think grapes are good for them.
Grapes have a high level of sugar so you want to keep them to a minimum, but they are safe to give rabbits in small amounts
We did have issues with one of our rabbits regarding grapes and calcium stones in her bladder. The previous owners were feeding her lots.
Very informative thank you! Too bad it's the pound system instead of grams or metric =)
I saw that my pellets are made with alfafa hay, is it okay to give these pellets to an older rabbit?
Amy - Update the links in the Description - I think most of them are broken
The rabbit is really cute♥️..I was two rabbits but ., One is no more😭😢
