Have to say, the positive slant you take on all of your videos is very refreshing, you’re critical without being cruel and the love that you show for all of these artists is truly great. 🤘🏼
Coverdale is amazing, and he obviously knows his limitations at the age of 70, which is why he lets his bandmates (or the crowd) take over when needed. Most of all, at 70 he is still one hell of a frontman. A living legend with killer song writing abilities.
I was at this show and had an amazing time! Sure he's 70 so my expectations were managed. His voice is still melodic and as all pensioners should, he got a little help from his youngers. It was a pleasure to see Whitesnake live for the first and last time. Foreigner and Europe were also top notch!
I hate it when people talk smack about Coverdale.. He's a living legend, one of the last true "rock stars" thats still out there doing it. And it is the farewell tour. I don't mind his voice at all, I mean when you have Tommy, Reb, Joel and Tanya playing.. It's all good.
Exactly , fans know his voice has been deteriorating when they buy a ticket, or should know. He has kept touring when others were sitting back. Rock on Cov ❤️
Fcukin definitely his voice had changed since the coverdale page album.. fcukin brilliant gig regardless of the the bad sound mix at the gig I was at good bye mr coverdale seen you since 83 😢 .
Agreed, Ryan .Plus, he looks healthy and don't think the Marlboro man was his downfall, as was the case with Roth and Bon Jovi. Daltrey still doing pretty good at 78 as he thought second-hand smoke affected his voice going back to the old days. ..I think maybe Jagger and McCartney avoided it pretty well, as well.. Justin is correct in that David contributed a lot to rock and this is it .It didn't sound bad at all. .Bon Jovi's goose is cooked ,along with his voice .
The old Whitesnake lineup was unbelievably good… pre-hair metal era… pre Steve Vai… Moody and Marsden, the all-British blues lineup with Coverdale’s unreal voice… THAT is hands down the best Whitesnake era
@@ronnienose8608 All of them legends in their own right... Ready an' Willing and Lovehunter are probably two of my top ten favourite ever albums... just wish I was older to have caught them at the right time!
@@TheKamillosdanny yes, but it's a totally different band, like comparing Peter Green FM with the soppy US version of the band. There was, imho, something quite special about early Whitesnake.
I think he's great! He's still working the crowd, still moving around the stage and still showing he's got the charisma, plus allowing his brillliant band to back him up helps with the harder notes, especially during Burn. The whole thing feels like a celebration, as it should.
Compared to Bon Jovi, David sounds amazing. Coverdale seems like a genuinely nice guy, although John Sykes may beg to differ. Cheap Trick's Robin Zander sounds as good as ever at the age of 69, still waiting for Justin's Cheap Trick video.
@Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin not at all. None of the footage showed the drummer up close and viewing on a small screen (phone) meant the background details weren't particularly clear.
He made Burn. One of the best rock records ever. A legend, and it's cool he went out there for the fans. Most of the other legends are gone. Most of his contemporaries are retired comfortably, which is totally respectable. So for him to do this, we should be thankful. Still wish we would have had a Zeppelin tribute thing 10 years ago with Coverdale or someone else singing with Page, Jones, and Bonham Jr. He was the top pick at the time. Missed opportunity for a generations of fans to experience that music.
Dude - you know what I love the most about your show? Is you talk like a fan, which you obviously are - and you celebrate what we all love, which is music. PLEASE keep kicking ass - and thank you.
I was lucky enough to see Whitesnake twice in the 90's - early 2000's and I have to say I was shocked at the power of Coverdale's voice! Quite simply the greatest singer I ever heard. So what if he's lost that voice now, we don't expect boxers from the 80's to still perform like they did in their youth; just be grateful he held onto it for as long as he did. I have seen quite few top bands over the years - Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Dio, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, ZZ Top, Plant & Page, Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, AC/DC. Long live David Coverdale.
Oh, he's raspy, he's old, and he's doesn't have the power he once did, but he's hitting the notes when he does sing. He's using the same tricks as other old dudes, getting extra help during the choruses, backing off the mike, etc. But yeah, it's his farewell tour, if anyone thought 1989 or even 2009 Coverdale was gonna be at this gig, then that's on you. He's been singing his arse off since the 70s, and he's still sounding better than Vince Neil and Bon Jovi are right now..... Even more amazing is Aldridge's playing in is 70s.
The problem is that the notes he does hit are way lower than on the original recordings, Whitesnake has been tuning down like 1 and a half or two whole tone since like 15 years now. There are some guys like Glenn Hughes or Dickinson who at their age are still able to hit the notes they originally recorded on albums, but they are rare cases.
@@juancarlos-dx1or yes but as u point out there are plenty of bands that start tuning down a half step or full step when their singers 40 or 50. The Graham Bonnet and Glenn Hughes are truly exceptional. Once it's announced that this is the farewell tour you knew there was likely a reason when ya buy a ticket.
I was at the gig in Bham last Sunday & no, his voice isn't what it was - which is a real shame - but he's a great frontman, his band are fantastic & he's bowed out gracefully. Love him! Was a great night, emotional. Sad we won't see him on stage again.
Agreed , I was in Birmingham aswell and the experience was enough, it was a goodbye concert that was probably 2 years late . He was in the lucky position that he had Dino Jelusick in the band who could have sung everybody and no-one would have noticed but he chose to have Dino just reinforce his voice at times ...people should have respect just for that and enjoyed it for what it was
@@joolh7403 yea. DC was without compare when he was at the top of his game. I was his biggest fan. Whatever this nonsense is that he is up to now, I have no idea. Hope he enjoys retirement. He should have taken it long before now.
Most definitely 👍👏👏 the farewell song choice wasn't the right decision to me should have definitely finish with forevermore..and not played hey you should have been the deeper the love judgement day or sailing ships..
Coverdale is the master performer. He is no mug either. Surrounds himself with musicians who can sing. Smart move! We will miss him when he hangs up his mic stand.
Though I never followed your band, Justin (I'm 55 and be 56 this Fall), I found your channel and really enjoy it. Love your in-depth and at times, comedic commentary and insider view on bands, lead singers, etc. You're very entertaining my fine sir!
He's a 70-year-old man! I saw them at a festival around 10 years ago, and you could hear the strain in his voice then, he was still great just not the powerhouse he was once upon a time. By the looks and sound of the video, he still put on a show and the audience was with him, at a farewell tour that should be what it's all about. Very few singers are lucky enough to age really gracefully, especially singers like Cov. For me Roger Daltry has aged fantastically, his voice is very very different now but it's still excellent.
Daltry figured out how to do good old man voice. I think it's because more than any other band I can think of offhand, Daltrey and Townsend have embraced their geezerdom rather than chase youth.
Scorpions, the band Whitesnake is opening for, have lead vocalist Klaus Meine sounding great at 74. I recently discovered a little Scorpions gem called "Hey You". It wasn't included on my copy of Animal Magnetism, apparently released as a single in 1980. The lead vocal verses are actually sung by guitarist Rudolph Schenker and the chorus by Klaus. Catchy tune, especially the verses. If The Darkness ever did another cover song, I would love to hear them do this song.
Could the Scorpions lead singer do some Quiet Riot songs? Once I heard Rock You Like A Hurricane, my mind thought he'd do a good job filling in for the late Kevin Dubrow
Saw them in Dublin over a week ago, must say it was exceptional, Coverdale was excellent and amazing. Cant believe that was the last time I’ll see them live. 🤘🐍
I was there too in the front row. Got Mick Jones plectrum. And one from Europe's bass player. Tanya rocked. Dave was great . And Tommy bashing those drums like animal from the Muppets amazing.
If you're going to see David Coverdale's Whitesnake in 2022, you're a fool if you get disappointed, especially so much so that you leave or want a refund. The man is a legend and should be at home chillin', looks exhausted with every bit of 70-year-old energy out there on the stage, but he's there. And if you are, you need to have realistic expectations. Carry on, Mr. Coverdale.
Right? Like this is his farewell tour. Its just a celebration of Whitesnake. I was at the concert yesterday and it was just great. The love felt in the entire room was just awesome! And its fine he doesnt have all of his voice left. Its honestly more amazing that he even has a little bit off it at all.
Absolutely right. My friends and I went to see Chuck Berry before he passed away. Even though Chuck wasn’t at his best, we cheered as loud as we could, it was amazing to be in the same room as him. To have the privilege to watch him play and sing for us was a highlight of my concert going life. It’s important to have realistic expectations.
Coverdale's voice has been shot for years but he still puts on great concerts due to his bandmates who now cover for most of Davids singing. He starts a verse and put's it onto the crowd or interacts with the crowd while his band continues his verses and chorus. Is what it is.
Spot on Justin 👏 Totally agree . Coverdale had a most beautiful soulful and also powerful voice that is not the same, but celebrating with the whitesnake choir as always is the way to go!
I looked up your age. I knew we were around the same, but you were born one day ahead of me! Kinda cool. So yeah. Thanks for being so clear and positive. I enjoy you quite a bit, old man.
Great video! We can feel and enjoy your admiration, love and respect for this absolute monster of rock. We can only have gratitude for Mr. Coverdale and all the happy moments he gave us through his music and voice! Regards from Brazil! (Ps: best final ever hahaha)
.I saw Mr Coverdale at the BIC in Bournemouth a few years ago and it was amazing. He still has it at 70. His tour is celebrating his career, it's exactly that innit!? Good on ya Justin.
David Coverdale is one of the classiest musicians alive…not to mention amazing vocals! “Coverdale - Page” is such an underrated and unappreciated album. I’m blessed to have seen Whitesnake back in 87’… So awesome live!!!🤘🎶
The Coverdale - Page album is stellar: one of my faves! Word is - Plant got so jealous he wormed his way back into Jimmy's graces and restarted their union. Dgmw, I love Plant and Zepp as much as anyone could, but he was a sh*t about the partnership and did his utmost to diss their endeavor, which hugely dropped my regard for him. Plant sabotaged a great album. Heck, he sabotaged the entire Coverdale-Page tour! Can't/won't forgive him for that. Quite sick of the jerks accusing Coverdale as being a Plant wannabe. Coverdale made his own way, on his own talent and trajectory. LZ might have been an influence but all notable bands are influential merely by osmosis.
The classic Whitesnake line up was amazing (Marsden/Moody) and as a 16 year old I was a huge fan. Coverdale in his prime was an incredible singer and a master of the double entendre. Class.
There is only one singer from that era that brings it and it's Glenn Hughes....not only can he bring it but he's still one of the best vocalists today.
his stage presence and swagger is still there. I saw Whitesnake in Sydney in 2019 and was impressed by the man and the band, yes vocals wasn't as strong as it was in his 30s but he is a true performer doing the best he can and he impressed me and lots of other people. i see lots of 70 year old's who can't even walk to the front door let alone try to sing and dance around a stage night after night and travel the world at the same time. I think this man has given so much to music and given joy to so many people that if he isn't perfect vocally so what, he is a legend in my eyes
I was at that gig, payed my money and enjoyed the show and the energy that the band and the crowed produced. Glad I got the opportunity to see Whitesnake live. Awesome for a 70 year old.
I was incredibly emotional watching him on this tour, had the privilege of seeing him in Nottingham. This man is very aware of his limitations and wanted to say goodbye to all the fans, he did his best and my heart hurts I never got to see him at his peak; but like yourself I was a teenager stuck in Norwich and had to make do. I'll adore the music forever, and be grateful I got to say goodbye ❤️
I got my picture taken with the band the next morning after their concert the night before in Wichita, KS I'm guessing in 1986- 87. I believe Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell were the guitarist at the time, or was that Steve Via? I think it was Vivian now that I think about it because Via was touring with David Lee Roth at that time. Kitty was on one side of me in all her sexy firery red gorgeousness and David on the other side. One of the greatest concerts I've ever seen.
I was at the 02 for the farewell tour and David was just as I expected, a true rock star and I wanted to be there to thank him for the pure joy he has brought me since I first heard Burn, then the wonderful blues rock of Whitesnake, we wish you well David, Eres a song for ya!!!!
I love this channel so much... The Darkness got me through a lot of shit in high school and now Justin's channel is helping me through the terrors of adulthood. Thank you so much you fabulous man! X
I was at the show. Despite his voice not being top, it was magical and I belted my lungs to every song. I’m just grateful I got one chance to see him before he cans it. On another note it’d be awesome to hear The Darkness cover Whitesnake’s “Guilty of Love”. Your accent would complement it.
i've been a fan of david since i first saw him with Deep Purple in 1974, for me - i think he is the best front man /singer EVER!!! Isaw Whitesnake in Birmingham last sunday for the last time and really enjoyed the show and it really pisses me off when people criticise him because his vocals are;nt as good as they used to be. what do you expect??? he:s been at the top of he's game for decades and he's 70 for fuck sake. he still put on a great show for the fans. you want perfect vocals? go and watch some shit pop act with autotune. rant over gggrrrrrrr
Perfectly in agreement with Justin, David has always given everything on stage and his singing style has influenced generations of singers, come on folks, show some respect for the legend! I want to point out that the video is done well because while Justin talks about David Coverdale there are a lot of supporting videos and images, much better this way! 👏👏
Massive Whitesnake fan since forever - Northwinds to Restless Heart pretty much. Saw their "farewell tour" 20 odd years ago and refused to attend anything after that... an excellent decision I think!
Foreigner blew them off the stage in Glasgow. Unfortunately the sands of time have caught up with him , coupled with a two year Covid postponement which clearly has not been ideal. Still bought the t-shirt for gigs of the past.
David Coverdale was brilliant when I saw him a couple years ago. He was still able to hit the notes and move across the stage with so much energy. It was a great concert. I have a lot of respect for him to still be out there doing what he loves and putting on a great show. Bravo. ❤
Really boils my piss when people go: “Oh, the voice is not what it used to be.” Of course it’s not. People age. Only those who never really made an effort don’t realise that! I feel so sorry for Macca, for example. But he still has sold out tours. And glad you touched on Ian Gillan who was my absolute favourite of all times, ever since JC Superstar.
You're rarely as powerful as when you're young, but some people keep sounding great until they die like Ronnie James Dio and others destroy their voice like Glenn Danzig. You definitely have to cut old singers some slack though.
@@xenos_n. I’m a former touring metal singer and this statement is exactly correct. I still say Glenn Hughes has the best voice for his age and all the drug abuse dude is just amazing!!
@@jonfaerman7518 i think some are humble enough to know they needed something singing coaching when the time comes. Which is a good thing. Still love Paul Rodger’s voice after all these years.
I absolutely loved him at the farewell gig! Superb show, so not sure what your friend means- that man had more energy than my toddler😂! Totally made my belated 40th seeing that trio of bands! The new whitesnake line up was utterly brilliant live!
Justin, I spent my mid teens indulging in The Darkness. I fell out of love with "New" music in about 2006. Before this, 'Permisson to Land' was a staple on my ipod and other out-dated devices. I recently have been going through a rough patch in my life. To the point where I questioned the importance of my own existence. UA-cam, by some devine intervention, lead me to your channel. You have made me smile again. Your dry humour, impartial views and way with words have left a lasting impression on me. I am so thankful for the content you put out. Please keep being you, becsuse "you" is marvellous. Thank you, Justin x
I was at the O2 on that night. He may no longer have the power he did when i first saw him and Whitesnake in 1980 but as a front man he played the crowd really well using them to assist with the choruses as you clearly showed in your video. All told it was a great show and as you said as a farewell tour it was great to get the opportunity to see DC and Whitesnake one last time. Keep up the good work Justin, love your channel and its content. #justinhawkinsridesagain
He may not have the power of old but he's a legend and deserves the respect. You go to these shows to pay tribute and indulge in the nostalgia. Same with Deep Purple, same with the shows Ritchie did as Rainbow. Go, enjoy and remember these guys are in their 70's not their '70's prime.
He'll always be one of the greatest of all times. I was about to take tickets to their Vegas show last night (supposedly the last one of last year's tour) and was disheartened to hear they had cancelled the rest of the tour. Would have given anything to be at the last Whitesnake show no matter if he hits the notes or not. Hope we'll still get the chance to see him!
Brits know but many Americans, even diehard rock fans, don't realize how great his solo albums were from Trouble through Slide It In truly are. He just kept putting out amazing album after amazing album and then of course it all paid off with 1987. One of the greatest rock vocalists of all time and a hell of a performer. GO SEE HIM WHILE YOU CAN!
I was there , probably my 20th Whitesnake gig. And yes the voice isn't as strong as it was but when he sang the final screaming notes of still of the night , when it's repeated 3 times , the old magic appeared. Brilliant gig, brilliant atmosphere, lots of singing and just to spend another night with one of the greatest front men I'm rock was amazing, memorable and unforgettable. Thanks David... and thanks Justin , a wise and knowledgeable man. But it was 1990 Whitesnake headlined Donnington, ACDC was 91 . I do remember that the 90 Donnington was the last one the bbc aired live .. due to some lavish expletives by Mr Coverdale 😆
A very fair assessment! Coverdale had one of the greatest voices in rock. I’ve seen him loads of times and to be honest I wasn’t expecting him to perform as he used to. Just to see him on stage for the last time was worth the price of the ticket. Anyone that has performed for so long at that level has to be affected. I would have loved to have seen him doing an acoustic tour as his last one but then again he’d be criticised for that too..A legend.
I have seen Whitesnake several times over the last 3 decades and David Coverdale is an absolute legend of Rock. He can definitely still sing and yes his range has gone but he isn't Jon Bon Jovi whose voice has completely gone. What you get with Whitesnake is unbelievable musicianship, the calibre is unrivalled.
I've seen Whitesnake several times & they were always spot on. Quality shows, music, sound etc. People need to appreciate the length of Coverdale's career!
I am a huge fan of your voice Justin, and I LOVE David Coverdale. I already bought my tickets for a September show here in The U.S for the farewell tour. I don't care how good or bad Coverdale sings, I will be celebrating his amazing career and say farewell to him.
Saw Europe, Foreigner and White Snake in Dublin in the 3arena on May 10 this year, awesome show. We left before Whitesnake finished as the missus was not impressed with his singing. I still feel bad about it and this video made me feel even worse about it!! Saw WS in 2015 as well tho and they were epic (with Def Lepperd and Black Star Riders in support)
Should do Ann Wilson next, wild to me shes still belting her tunes in the original key for the most part; plus the band rules (Tom Bukovac behind the wheel)
Whitesnake brings to mind my best mates when we were all just living life. It’s good time rock n roll that is maybe a little bit ‘of its time’ but I just love it. Coverdale has still got the moves (a but slower maybe) and the voice is damn good for a guy who’s sung like a fucking hurricane all his life. At the risk of sounding like an old fart (for that is what I am) let’s see how the auto tune brigade are fairing when they’re 70! You’ll hear one of two things: 1. Nothing - cuz their career’s ended after 2 or 3 dreadful ‘songs’ 2. Just more auto tune over still some of the most god-awful mewing and honking you’ve ever had the misfortune to stumble across. There are some great (newer) acts out there but unfortunately they’re swept aside by the huge swathe of dribble that masquerades as songs these days. (Angry old git shouts at clouds😁)
Coverdale is one of the greatest singers of all time and his swagger is impenetrable. He’s rockin’ up there at 70 - prowlin’, moving, having fun with his fans and buddies. It’s a rad show. I haven’t elegantly organised my mind with regard to these legacy performances. There are a lot of compelling reasons why celebrating the legends is a good thing. A farewell. A final fling. A rekindle of something special. Some of the legends can throw down with the best of the kids too - so their performances are as relevant as anything else. But I worry about progress, expectations and actual legacy and what we generate. There’s a brutal tendency that folks dance like monkeys for our thrown coppers until they are spent and at that point they are useless to us, and it is terrible. So many good people are chewed up by the worst parts of the industry. What’s next for artists? Those that end their careers - young or old, exposed and not well prepared or nurtured for a life outside of the spotlights? I know this happens organically a bit but I would love our industry to take legacy a bit more seriously and formally. Mentorships, producing, co-writing. What if each legend had an up and comer to work with to make good of the wealth of knowledge and experience to fuel a future generation? Mentoring and artistic strategy is now managed mostly by business heads - it feels like this leads to sort of a mono-culture. Things produced and mixed and structured similarly. This kind of thing sold once before so let’s make more and more of it. Artists on the other had tend to build on the challenges of the ambitions of those that inspired them most. Imagine what could happen if the Zappers and Waters and Backmores all had a culture of nurture and future gens imbedded in their lives instead of competition and rock star insecurities? Pretty cool retirement plan. I think I might enjoy this kind of legacy act more than seeing someone puttering out. A hand over if you will.
On a side note, I was listening to The Darkness amazing cover of Radiohead's Street Spirit (Fade Out) from Hot Cakes and Justin sings "Again" at the end, just like he does on the "Justin Hawkins Rides Again" theme song. The origin of the theme song?
I call utter BS for this. Albeit i have last heard coverdale live about 10 years ago. David is just out of this world. Only singers i would but on same level are freddie and MJ. Whitesnake performed in Helsinki IFK ice hockey arena that time and david sing so hard and force that he but the mic away and sing acoustic so hard that the whole arena echoed over the Music and people making noise. I was 😮 he is just out of this world. Love david coverdale and whitesnake and deep purple.
Dear Justin. My favourite UA-cam channel of all time. You talk like an old friend. Insightful, intelligent and funny as fuck. Keep up the excellent content. Darkness for life! 🤟
I didn't appreciate Rock till 86 but it was such an important era before grunge. I was at little late to rock and metal but I was at Donnington in 88 it was such an iconic era. I'm 54 now. I'd love to wind back the clock. Mega music 🎵
Still have my Donington 88 t shirt. Remember the big screen/projection sheet thingy falling down early in the afternoon. Was really hoping to go to Donington this year for the first time since 1988..but my daughter's final exams have scuppered plans! This year has a smashing lineup
@@greenslider having the gig tee shirt is important. Same here i never wore it it's still as new. 💪😃 I've not been back to Donnington for music since. But I work in Italy these days and their version is Firenze Rocks. It's worth a look if you ever fancy a gig holiday 🤟
Went to the Manchester gig, the answer is yes!!! Saw them a few years ago (Manchester again) during the double header tour with Def Leppard. Snake absolutely blew D.L off the stage, they were amazing. Last week it was like watching a completely different band. To the point of which it took a good 30 seconds into a song before you could work out what song it was!!! That said, I'm so glad I saw them, you can take away his voice but you'll never take away his presence. The guy is a rock legend in the purist sence 🤘🤘
I was at both the gigs you mentioned, last time I was fine with David's voice, this time it wasn't as good, BUT, it was the sound for me, it was mega loud & a muddy mix & overpowered David.
@@grahamdrummond2412 Yeah remember that bit from the Def Leppard set. Whitesnake's sound was ok, then Leppard came out and everything had been ramped up to ridiculous volumes, made the whole sound intolerable. This time it was Snake's turn, Europe/Foreigner were good, Snake's was incoherent. Must be a "Headliner" thing!!
@@EstebanOconsHelmet agree, another band I was seeing regularly was Alter Bridge, Gojira were supporting, I'd hardly ever heard a clearer but loud sound at MEN arena, Alter Bridge came on, you guessed it, crappy muddy sound, I have stopped going to see them live now because it's happened twice.
Aww, I love the guy. I have his album on my turntable as I write this. I’m not gonna say anything bad about mr Coverdale 😆. Great video. I agree with you whole heartedly on this 👍🏻
I saw Whitesnake decades ago with Vai. It was phenomenal but honestly this current video isn't much different. I rarely see a vocalist nail their songs in a live show. It seems he's still quite capable at the least even not taking into consideration he's 70.
Coverdale has paid his dues to rock, 'Still Of The Night' is a masterclass in vocal dynamics and control. For those about to rock, David Coverdale we most humbly salute you.🙋♂️
It is disappointing. When someone pays for a ticket they expect the performer to be able to do the job. If you hire a plumber top dollar and have does a mediocre job do you say "Well, at one time he was one of the best!"? While Coverdale was a great singer, that time has passed years ago. His voice has been roasted for awhile now and he's out there charging tickets to see him croaking out Burn. I love Deep Purple and Whitesnake, but he should've stopped years ago just like Paul Stanley. Keep your legacy and stop milking the fans for one last ticket.
I was lucky enough to see Coverdale and co. in 1987 in a co-headlining show with Aerosmith. I wouldn't enjoy see him and them now but I totally agree that at this point expectations have to be reasonable, and DC is a damned treasure. I've turned down chances to see a lot of groups from that era who are still out there going at it. I've seen a few in acoustic settings that have been amazing though. (Tony Harnell, Eric Martin, Jeff Scott Soto especially).
I remember an interview where he talked having throat surgery for severe vocal fold edema and a left vocal fold vascular lesion. It’s a wonder he can sing at all and I respect him so much for getting out and doing despite the struggle. I also think it’s extremely heartwarming to hear the crowd sing with him...not a bad way to retire from an amazing career. P.S. I cannot get over how great your hair looks! Great cut!
I was at Nottingham. He was decent enough for his age. None of the 80s legends sound as good as they used to but I think the only two that sound genuinely bad at the moment are Jon Bon Jovi and Vince Neil.
I'm not going to hate on Coverdale for not having the pipes he used to, he has been struggling for a few years, but you see Whitesnake for the great time you have. I do think it shows the quality of someone like Bruce Dickinson, who is a few years younger but overcome mouth cancer and is still sounding great, it shows these guys have to look after their voices throughout their careers to get that longevity.
The whole band helps him but Dino Jelusick is ghosting nearly all of vocals. I wouldn't be surprised if Whitesnake carry on with Dino singing, Coverdale writing and producing. I just hope he gets the chance to show his skill somewhere on this tour, Dino is without a doubt one of the best rock vocalists around.
I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos I get a good giggle out of the way that you described things and the way that you carry yourself. With everything going on in life being so horrible right now I tend to watch a few your videos everyday just to get a laugh and a smile and I want to thank you for that. I'm sure you're probably somebody that's really fun to be around you seem to have a great personality so thank you so much for taking the time and making some videos and at least making me smile

Let alone the 90s.
Paul Rodgers is as good as he was i 1970.. If you can't do it, pack it in. Period
Glenn Hughes
EXACTLY.
and in comparison to Bon Jovi’s latest abomination of shows, this is perfectly acceptable.
@@dannysweeney8765 Difference with Glenn is that he spent years not doing much music and so didn't wear his voice out with long tours year after year.
Yeah will leave the smack talking to Robert Plant! 😂
Ozzy basically said Coverdale is a little bitch
I agree, I saw them at Reading in 1980 - awesome.
Absolutely! With THE best rhythm section Whitesnake ever had, Neil Murray and Ian Paice, and not forgetting the late great and much missed Jon Lord.
@@ronnienose8608 All of them legends in their own right... Ready an' Willing and Lovehunter are probably two of my top ten favourite ever albums... just wish I was older to have caught them at the right time!
John Sykes , 87’ Maan, c’mon guys…
@@TheKamillosdanny yes, but it's a totally different band, like comparing Peter Green FM with the soppy US version of the band. There was, imho, something quite special about early Whitesnake.
I think he's great! He's still working the crowd, still moving around the stage and still showing he's got the charisma, plus allowing his brillliant band to back him up helps with the harder notes, especially during Burn. The whole thing feels like a celebration, as it should.
100% Correct!
David's one of the good ones. I'm 100% fine with him going out on his terms.
Wow man well said
Compared to Bon Jovi, David sounds amazing. Coverdale seems like a genuinely nice guy, although John Sykes may beg to differ.
Cheap Trick's Robin Zander sounds as good as ever at the age of 69, still waiting for Justin's Cheap Trick video.
The real star is Tommy Aldridge on drums.
Still kicking ass at 72!
Christ alive! I didn't realise he was on the drum!! He's one of the reasons I started playing!
David Coverdale and Tommy performing in their seventies to that standard is indeed incredible.
Tommy's a great player and showman
@Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin not at all. None of the footage showed the drummer up close and viewing on a small screen (phone) meant the background details weren't particularly clear.
YES ,,, Black Oak
This is my favorite channel as of recent.
Coverdale is one of my all-time favorites. Certainly not at his best these days, but not near as cringy as Bon Jovi. Kudos for still being able!
Bon Jovi will never even come close to touching the vocal abilities of Coverdale. At any age.
Missed opportunity for a generations of fans to experience that music.
indeed, coverdales blusey vocal is perfect for Zep-style songs
Dude - you know what I love the most about your show? Is you talk like a fan, which you obviously are - and you celebrate what we all love, which is music. PLEASE keep kicking ass - and thank you.
Justin is such a funny and likable guy, I'm glad he's on UA-cam.
@@xenos_n. agreed - :)
I came here to say something very similar go this! So glad I stumbled onto his channel!
Indeed.
I was more impressed with Tommy Aldridge still playing drums like he did in the 80's at 71. Amazing.
He’s still gotta be one of the best and hardest hitting drummers at age 71. Absolutely amazing is right! 👍
An Arkansas legend!
Tommy is still doin it!!
@@kingtrance307 so many guys/gals a quarter of his age can't hit as hard as he does in his seventies, they should call it a day already.
Aldridge is an absolute monster
True
My mum and David Coverdale...Priceless!!
Great episode...
He was in the lucky position that he had Dino Jelusick in the band who could have sung everybody and no-one would have noticed but he chose to have Dino just reinforce his voice at times ...people should have respect just for that and enjoyed it for what it was
@@keggers101 he has an incredible voice!

they were realy, really good - great band, great supporting vocals, Dave was lovely - Tanya rocked!
Tanya was great, overall a brilliant night
I was there too in the front row. Got Mick Jones plectrum. And one from Europe's bass player. Tanya rocked. Dave was great . And Tommy bashing those drums like animal from the Muppets amazing.
One of THE most charismatic vocalist I have seen in my life, I remember seeing Whitesnake at the ripe age of 13, David mesmerized me.
Coverdale.
He can't pull it off Anymore. Time to pack it in.
Right? Like this is his farewell tour. Its just a celebration of Whitesnake. I was at the concert yesterday and it was just great. The love felt in the entire room was just awesome! And its fine he doesnt have all of his voice left. Its honestly more amazing that he even has a little bit off it at all.
Totally agree 👍
@@TKDDLJ09 I saw them in 2019 and it was such a great time. Mr. Aldridge is the true legend as well.

His tour is celebrating his career, it's exactly that innit!?
Good on ya Justin.
The respect in that video was spot on and showed viewers your natural class. Good one Justin 👍
David Coverdale is one of the classiest musicians alive…not to mention amazing vocals! “Coverdale - Page” is such an underrated and unappreciated album.
I’m blessed to have seen Whitesnake back in 87’…
So awesome live!!!🤘🎶
Wish Page and coverdale would have kept going forward...
Class.
I am so thoroughly entertained and inspired by just listening to you talk about music. Thank you for making these videos.
There is only one singer from that era that brings it and it's Glenn Hughes....not only can he bring it but he's still one of the best vocalists today.
@Joe Hamilton I concur sir. Considering Mr Hughes' past debauchery he sounds incredible 🤘
Hughes and Thrall,get album
Mickey Thomas still has it.
Hughes still sings like he's doing the California Jam in 1974. Incredible.
Two words Paul Rodgers
his stage presence and swagger is still there.
I enjoy all your videos, and I enjoyed this one as well.
I agree. I saw him in Birmingham ❤️
I was there too. I thought he was great!

Perfectly in agreement with Justin, David has always given everything on stage and his singing style has influenced generations of singers, come on folks, show some respect for the legend!

Im 51 and certain mornings I get up from bed and walk like a fking robot, respect to all our heroes around their 70s still doing their thing on stage.
I saw Whitesnake in 2013 with Nightranger and it was awesome. I guess then he was early 60's in age but he was killing it!
Been in bed sick all day and in isolation. This lifted my spirits a bit. Whitesnake are one of the best. The 80's were the golden decade of music

Justin, I spent my mid teens indulging in The Darkness. I fell out of love with "New" music in about 2006. Before this, 'Permisson to Land' was a staple on my ipod and other out-dated devices.

“It’s a farewell tour, you’re never going to get another chance to see Whitesnake again”
I saw Ozzy Osbourne’s farewell tour in 1992
Man, most folks would give a lot to be up there still giving a quality performance like this at 70. Great band and what a career!

You’ll hear one of two things:
1. Nothing - cuz their career’s ended after 2 or 3 dreadful ‘songs’
Love your show brother! You guys rocked in Nashville at the Brooklyn Bowl! Can't wait to see ya again!
Top singer and from middlesbrough, well Redcar !
See he could keep going, but he's showing a lot more dignity than some other singers we could mention..

@@grahamdrummond2412 Sound engineer wasn't great at Newcastle either the mics kept cutting off and volumes were all over the place.
I agree with you whole heartedly on this 👍🏻
Not only is Coverdale a great singer and performer, he's a very funny, witty guy and personality.
Amen!
Best channel on UA-cam for me. Love it Justin 🤟🔥🤟
For those about to rock, David Coverdale we most humbly salute you.🙋♂️
Whitesnake was my gateway into rock and then metal. Still sounds a great singer to me! 70 and still rocking out, much respect for that.
These videos are so good, thanks Justin.
So don't go. Hire a younger plumber lol
@@AaronDavison He won’t now. But it would be nice to know before deciding to pay the ticket price.
Just to still be up there is a testament to his talent. Still love their music, no matter what. He can still do it at his age. Give him respect.
I got to say I'm jealous lol. What an era. Hats off 🤟🙏 where did you see them ?
@@ashleylee5445 Charlotte NC. I was 15, it was an incredible time for live shows. General admission under 30 bucks...we were 3rd row center stage.
Saw them in 87 opening for Motley Crue
BD is mindblowing for his age, just seen them a few days ago, he was great.
