Thank you so much. I am much admired by your method in teaching English,so I would be very grateful if you kindly make a new video about all future tenses.
Now I've seen all the videos from the beginning. The last 4-5 were quite difficult. I have to repeat a few because I didn't understand everything. A great channel and a great voice that is easy to understand. Many thanks for that. 🤩👍👍
No, it means they have been together from some time in the past until the present... and it will probably keep going into the future. Excellent question! Thanks for watching! 🤩
It's great and I have fun, learning english with 360, he's an amazing teachers❤❤.. This lesson is crucial for me. It's always confusing how to used them.😊😊
Speaking of that train departure example. I'd suggest that using the present simple underscores the formal side of the issue, the timetable, and the simple future would reflect actual life circumstances.
In this case, three sentences convey similar but slightly different meanings based on their tenses and implications: 1. **The train leaves at 7am**: This is in the present simple tense. It indicates a regular schedule or timetable. - Example: "The train leaves at 7am every day." 2. **The train will leave at 7am**: This is in the future simple tense. It indicates a future scheduled event. - Example: "We have to catch the train tomorrow; it will leave at 7am." 3. **The train is leaving at 7am**: This is in the present continuous tense. It indicates a specific action that is planned or scheduled to happen in the near future. - Example: "The train is leaving at 7am, so we need to be at the station by 6:45." In summary: - **Present simple ("leaves")**: Indicates a regular schedule or timetable. - **Future simple ("will leave")**: Specifies a future occurrence at the designated time. - **Present continuous ("is leaving")**: Indicates a planned action happening in the near future, emphasizing the immediacy of the event. Thanks for watching! 🤩

hi teacher, what is the difference between perfect & perfect continuous when they are serving the same function of "actions that started in the past and continue to the present"? e.g. 1. It has rained for 5 hours. 2. It has been raining for 5 hours.
Hello! The sentence "It has rained for five hours" (Present Perfect) can suggest a focus on the **result** of the rain. While it mentions the duration (five hours), it implies that the rain has either ended or the speaker is focusing on the fact that a specific amount of rain has occurred. In contrast, "It has been raining for five hours" (Present Perfect Continuous) emphasizes the ongoing **action** rather than the result, implying that it is still raining right now. So, while the difference is subtle, the **first sentence** can indeed focus more on the **result** (the fact that five hours of rain happened), whereas the **second sentence** focuses more on the **ongoing process**.
Good question. Of course a girl is a female child in English too. However, girl is used to mean young woman as well. As for the age limit, it totally depends on what the speaker considers tobe young. I'm in my 40s and in casual conversations I refer to women younger than I am as girls. I had a date with a cute girl yesterday. She was 34 years old. 😅
@@englishspeaking360 Thank you for the explanation. I understand and it's good to know. In german speaking countries that would be illegal to date a girl, unless she's over 18. When we say girl, we also mean girl. The same applies to young woman. Different countries, different customs. Greetz from Switzerland

Hi, are will and be going to different? I was taught that will means it must happen. For example, if I say I will drop by on you tomorrow that means I must do it tomorrow. However, if I say I am going to drop by on you tomorrow that means I haven't made up my mind, not decide yet. Is that so? I heard different sayings and being so confused.
Hello Mandy! "Will" and "be going to" are both used to talk about future events, but they have slightly different uses: "Will" is often used for decisions made at the moment of speaking or for predictions about the future. "Be going to" is used for plans or intentions that have already been made or are likely to happen based on present evidence.

How it can be considered live and work as permanent , it can change ,right? We can change our work or just move to other country or something like this .I mean I do not guess the real meaning of this permanent Situation? What's the difference between ongoing action and temporary action in a present progressive? Present perfect has the meaning of actual result as well. The difference is just a visible result on appearance for present perfect progressive?
In the present progressive (also called present continuous) tense, both ongoing and temporary actions are expressed using the same tense form (subject + "am/is/are" + verb-ing). However, the distinction lies in the duration and nature of the action: 1. Ongoing action: This refers to an action that is happening right now and continues over a period of time. It may have no specific end in the near future. Example: I am studying English. (This action is happening now and may continue for a long period, such as for a semester or year.) 2. Temporary action: This refers to an action that is happening at the moment but is expected to last only for a short period or is not permanent. Example: I am staying at my friend's house this week. (This action is happening now but will end soon, as it's only for a short duration.) So, the main difference is that ongoing actions are typically broader or without a clear end, while temporary actions are more limited in time.
The difference between the present perfect and the present perfect progressive (continuous) goes beyond just "visible result" versus "actual result." Here's a more detailed breakdown: 1. Present Perfect (have/has + past participle) Focus: The result of the action or its completion at some point in the past, with relevance to the present. Usage: It is used to describe actions that were completed at some time in the past but have effects or relevance in the present. Duration: The action may or may not have a clear duration. Example: I have written three reports today. (The focus is on the number of reports finished; the action is completed.) Example: She has lived here for ten years. (She started living here 10 years ago and still lives here; emphasis on the result of the time spent.) 2. Present Perfect Progressive (have/has + been + verb-ing) Focus: The duration or ongoing nature of the action, emphasizing that it has been happening for a period of time and is likely still continuing. Usage: Used for actions that started in the past and are still happening now or have recently stopped, with emphasis on the ongoing activity itself. Duration: Typically emphasizes how long the action has been going on. Example: I have been writing reports all morning. (The focus is on the ongoing process of writing, which might still be happening or just recently finished.) Example: She has been living here for ten years. (Focus on the ongoing action of living, highlighting that it’s been happening for a long period of time.) Key Differences: Present Perfect focuses on the completion or result of an action (what or how much has been done). Present Perfect Progressive focuses on the activity itself and its ongoing duration (how long something has been happening). Example Pair: Present Perfect: I have read five books this month. (Result: The action of reading five books is finished.) Present Perfect Progressive: I have been reading a lot this month. (Ongoing action: The reading has been happening continuously or repeatedly this month.) So, the distinction isn’t just between "visible" versus "actual" results; it’s more about whether the focus is on the result or the process/duration of the action.

What's the difference between ongoing action and temporary action in a present progressive?
Present perfect has the meaning of actual result as well. The difference is just a visible result on appearance for present perfect progressive?
Hello, yes it can change but for most people, it doesn't change or it doesn't change that often. Therefore we see it as permanent.
@@englishspeaking360 ok, thank you for the answer! I think there are not answers for the other questions but whatever 😂😊
Oops... sorry about that. Here are the answers to your other questions.
In the present progressive (also called present continuous) tense, both ongoing and temporary actions are expressed using the same tense form (subject + "am/is/are" + verb-ing). However, the distinction lies in the duration and nature of the action:
1. Ongoing action: This refers to an action that is happening right now and continues over a period of time. It may have no specific end in the near future.
Example: I am studying English. (This action is happening now and may continue for a long period, such as for a semester or year.)
2. Temporary action: This refers to an action that is happening at the moment but is expected to last only for a short period or is not permanent.
Example: I am staying at my friend's house this week. (This action is happening now but will end soon, as it's only for a short duration.)
So, the main difference is that ongoing actions are typically broader or without a clear end, while temporary actions are more limited in time.
The difference between the present perfect and the present perfect progressive (continuous) goes beyond just "visible result" versus "actual result." Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Present Perfect (have/has + past participle)
Focus: The result of the action or its completion at some point in the past, with relevance to the present.
Usage: It is used to describe actions that were completed at some time in the past but have effects or relevance in the present.
Duration: The action may or may not have a clear duration.
Example: I have written three reports today. (The focus is on the number of reports finished; the action is completed.)
Example: She has lived here for ten years. (She started living here 10 years ago and still lives here; emphasis on the result of the time spent.)
2. Present Perfect Progressive (have/has + been + verb-ing)
Focus: The duration or ongoing nature of the action, emphasizing that it has been happening for a period of time and is likely still continuing.
Usage: Used for actions that started in the past and are still happening now or have recently stopped, with emphasis on the ongoing activity itself.
Duration: Typically emphasizes how long the action has been going on.
Example: I have been writing reports all morning. (The focus is on the ongoing process of writing, which might still be happening or just recently finished.)
Example: She has been living here for ten years. (Focus on the ongoing action of living, highlighting that it’s been happening for a long period of time.)
Key Differences:
Present Perfect focuses on the completion or result of an action (what or how much has been done).
Present Perfect Progressive focuses on the activity itself and its ongoing duration (how long something has been happening).
Example Pair:
Present Perfect: I have read five books this month. (Result: The action of reading five books is finished.)
Present Perfect Progressive: I have been reading a lot this month. (Ongoing action: The reading has been happening continuously or repeatedly this month.)
So, the distinction isn’t just between "visible" versus "actual" results; it’s more about whether the focus is on the result or the process/duration of the action.
I knew all the tenses but I don't how and when I have to use it 😅.
I hope my video was helpful! 🤩🇨🇦
