Over twenty five years ago I bought your musicly helpless at a tag sale . It still was in the.original sack and had a cassette tape. I learned back then but didn’t keep it up. Now that I have retired I have gotten back into the harp. Thanks for all the help these videos provide
    Thanks Bubba

Then again, YOU are the master who has taught countless students to be proficient harp players, and you have decades more experience than I do. I may be an exception, but it took me forever to get that 3d to bend even a little. NOW I can do it with ease, but I learned to improvise and riff long before I ever got that bend. 3rd position just seems a much easier way to play minor blues because one doesn't have to be a proficient bender to "create" the right notes.

    Hi Mr. Gindick,
50 year old beginner here. I always wanted to try and play the harp and finally decided to give it a go recently so I got your Rockin Blues Book and CD. It's very cool and this video is really helping me put it together. Man I dig your stuff. I hope to make it to one of your camps someday. Thanks for all your help!!

All this aside, you are among an elite handful of mentors to whom I direct anybody who wants to learn harmonica. Particularly your expressiveness, especially rhythmic expression and experimentation, could be a focus of study for years. Your ability to "milk" a note for all its soul (like BB King) through rhythmic presentation is awe-inspiring. In this lesson I also LOVE the ask-answer/call-response concept inherent in Blues; any student MUST learn this, and you present it beautifully!

    Hi Jon,
Really enjoyed this video. Been messing with a harmonica for a few months now just picking up melodies by ear. You've really inspired me to take things a little further. Absolutely love this sound. The satisfaction of getting some of these riffs off is great. It's early days but I've ordered the book and cd and you have a new fan. Thanks and keep up the great work.
    Dave.

David-- Would I what? remake the video? I'm all bout you learning.
Write the riffs own and memorize them. That is the goal of the video.
Just stop the screen, get out your pen and pencil and write down the riffs. Then it wont matter if I use upper case b and d. God luck!

  • @OmniphonProductions
    @OmniphonProductions 13 років тому

I'm of two minds about this video, primarily because of the minor key played in second position. IF you are a proficient bender, then you can probably bend the 3d consistently and precisely enough. HOWEVER, if you have played long enough to be that good a bender, you SHOULD already be proficient or at least familiar with the riffs presented. The riffs are GREAT for beginners in major keys, but for minor, I think a beginner is better served by 3rd Position, at least that's how it was for me.

    hi jon.
do you think you could change the b and d (blow and draw) notation to capitals.
B and D is much easier to see. i may be a little dyslexic but i dont think so.
its just easier to identify them quickly.
    thanks.
and im loving your lessons.. best on the internet.
now to save up to travel to jam camp.

You can download book and Cd Country and Blues Harmonica for the Musically Hopeful and get a more concise 110 pages and a CD that focuses on the fundamentals of tone and bending and riffing. Please visit my website at www.Gindick.com to see my instruction products and how easy they are to download, or have mailed to you. I also highly recommend a SKYPE lesson. Face to face, I can encourage and correct you and tell you what you are doing right as well.
