They built a Charlie Musselwhite museum up in Telemark ,Norway. I slipped under the the stage once, in a theather uo there. Slid under the gran piano that was not in use, and sted blowing ithe strings with chords from beneath. Sunday the the day after, I saw Charlie relaxin with ROCK BOTTOM, and had to ask him if I disturbed his concert. Yeah, until I saw your feet stickin out from under the piano, there was was just to much sound. But then I relaxed., and you hit every chord right. Thank you , Blues is fun ! . Yeah you got that. And ROCK BOTTOM, is was playing at the same time at another place , Great people. We were more or laughing. Rock Bottom wanted in . ua-cam.com/video/XBHRzmWNJ3c/v-deo.html
I love blues, but thy are not all that the harmonica is all about ... far from it .... Tune into my China "East:Top" Harmonica 2024 Christmas special. Enjoy! Eli: "King of Rock & Roll Harmonica don't forget to: Like, ding the bell and Subscribe.
This is the blues....a little sugar for us from one of the all-time great bluesmen, not just harp players. I thank God that Charlie did whatever he did to further his health and longevity. As you can easily see from this magnificent performance, the man just keeps rolling along, voice and playing getting better and better. So tasteful and sharp to employ that wonderful amped harp rather than the acoustic. He's been going strong since the mid-sixties.....keep tearing it up, Charlie! We love you.
Blown away by this performance. So lucky to be able to enjoy this and with such incredible clarity. Thank you so much to whoever recorded and put this up.
Charlie has grown a lot in 50+ years that I've been listening to him. I'm a huge Butterfield fan and it always seemed that back in the 60's and 70's Musselwhite was trying to catch up to Butter, but I've since changed my mind as Charlie has been performing all this time. Charlie Musselwhite is great and has certainly paid his dues while never quitting to keep the blues alive and well.
this exactly the type of soul blues than people who start in this have to know!! I think I'll never be able to stop to watchin' this !! thx for everthing you've done sir Musselwhites!!
I finally found it! DAMN. I had deleted one of my playlists that had this song in it and I couldn't remember the name. Such a deep and emotional performance! Love it!
What a lot of people don't understand about the blues is that they pick you right up, you laugh as soon as you hear the lyrics and you're ready to dance to the music. good blues that is.
I'm talking about detailed harmonica playing. Just makes me practice that much more. That man can play! I can't count HOW MANY times I've listened to this video. I'd love to meet Mr. Musselwhite if he's still around
Charlie Musselwhite is such a legend. I first discovered his harmonica playing on a Tom Wait's album called "Mule Variations" when I was 16 years old. It was like unearthing a gem. I immediately went out and bought a harmonica.
He is! I saw and heard him live in Prague couple years ago and it was one of the greatest concerts I have been to..very humble, but great music (band was excellent as well) and atmosphere..hard to describe in words ;-)
I saw Charlie Musselwhite and John Lee Hooker at Santa Cruz University while on acid in 1974. They jammed together towards the end of the show. A concert I’ll never forget.
I feel like saving this a hundred times. It's pure blues magic, and that harp - there just aren't words for what it makes you feel when you hear it. THANK YOU so much for uploading this gem. Cheers, exzeluke
I grew up listening to this man..my dad, uncles and friends would get together 3 or 4 night a week. Played a lot of blues! I listened and learned...I've been playing blues for almost 40 years. Grew up in Rolling Fork Ms, right off Highway 61...Muddy Waters's hometown. I even got to play a little with one of his still living nephews. We had a little half pint we sat on the floor between us, with the cap left off. The things we played that night? Oh Lawd'...this man is a legendary harp player and that tone is otherworldly!!!
I like your opinion because, me anda my lovely and lovin father until he past away, we listen blues every night, we always share that pasion of the blues, he was the greats dad for me on galaxy i miss him a lot, but i always remember blues night!!!
He's come a long way from driving a bug exterminator truck in Chicago, then listening to the great's at night, hoping to sit in with anyone.along with elvin bishop, paul Butterfield.life is great.

That's very cool! I have family in Goleta, since 1965. I lived there in 1971, saw Charlie at a small club there, it was like a cave atmosphere, great show! Can't remember name of club, but I sure remember Charlie was great!🎶💯🎶❤️

It's 3rd position on an A-harp. Totally recommend this beautiful video as the best one on YT for learning 3rd position "in the field" from a grand master.
Charlie, I saw you last month and you sounded better than ever. In this video, you have played the third position harp as good as anyone as ever has. I mean all time, anyone, any where, dead or alive! This playing is the best of what can be done with a harmonica!

Damn it Charlie, everytime I hear you you sound better. This performance is exceptional. I saw you sit in at the Penngrove Pub. When you left I walked outside with you. I thanked you and told you how great you are. You were humble and then in a very gentle way you explained how you had to be someplace and had better get going. One more time Charlie, thank you.
beautiful. just so beautiful and dear. Thank you so much for posting this. Been playing harp since I was 13. My first instrument. It still sticks and resonates and I still go to that instrument . Even if it is not in my hands. If you know what I mean? Im an older gal now but ...aw man it sticks and stays it does. Im almost crying.....
Charlie's masterful tribute to Little Walter (1930-1968), a revolutionary in his own right, one of the first harmonica artists to compete with guitars by cupping the mic around his horn and plugging in, eventually pushing the amps beyond their intended limitations, and becoming, according to one bio, the 'first musician of any kind to purposefully use electronic distortion.'
That was your lesson. Only have to listen and try to play along 10,000 more times, 8 yearns and 300 harps later 😅 ok not 300. Lol, but a lot of them. 🎉

There is something about blues which is unexplainable. It's pain it's sweet pain, it's life it's a feeling. I feel sorry for who don't feel the blues.
Sweet pain indeed. Nostalgic reminisance of collectively inherited trauma.
