I love watching camera collections. I grew up and film cameras and remember the golden age for shopping for film cameras, 2000. The shift to digital was on and professional photographers were basically giving their film gear away to fund digital cameras you couldn't give away today. Hasselbald outfits for $1000. Unfortunately my camera budget was low as a single parent of twins so I ended up with Pentax 67's for $300, Canon F-1 News and Pentax LX for $150, even a Contax Bullseye for $150, instead of the Hasselbalds and Mamiya 7's.
Never clicked so fast on a video before. You just have to be the golden retriever of film youtube!

I still have my Sony DSCP200 that mom got for us in 2004. Came along with me to the U.S. and to the Barber Vintage Museum in Alabama (if you're a motorcycle lover, it's a museum one must definitely visit.) Some of the best memories of my college life.

I have to honestly say the Mamiya 645 "Plastic Fantastic" Pro is a wonderful camera. It is paired with some of the best compact medium format lenses out there. Multiple camera backs, 35mm panoramic back, exotic super fast f1.9 lens, auto modes, exposure comp (with viewfinder). I just wish they made a manual handle and not the super loud motorized one.
it is definitely a sleeper... excepted that motor ... I agree... loud AF. OK FINE ILL SHOOT IT THIS WEEKEND!

Well I mean the classic is a 105mm
My second favorite lens is the 75mm
And then my third favorite is 55mm that’s wide!!!

what’s the best lens to get with the pentax 67 if you aren’t interesting in taking portraits
Hummmmmmm what type of pictures do you like to take? The 75mm a a great lens and close to a 35mm field of view on 35mm … 55mm is good for wide shots.

Wow! Many nice film cameras in your collection. I used to have 2 Canon eos 1n cameras for shooting weddings. My collection s down from 100 cameras to just over 20.

I have a bit of a G.A.S. problem myself, but with film, it seems it's always something for a different aspect than you get with a FF digital....I have medium format cameras ranging from 6x6 to 6x17...
I'm a huge pano freak...I sent a non-working Nikon FE into the guy in Canada and got a PressPan back, that shoots just a tad wider than a Xpan....and a HorizonT, the old metal ones from Russia.
I recently scored a 4x5 rail camera for about $150...so, I guess that is next project....so much fun, so little time.....and so much gear left out there.
I haven't even started on my lens addiction....
Just remember, he who dies with the most toys.....WINS.

nice! My first digital camera was Ricoh gx100 which I found while I was cleaning my UA-cam room :) & interestingly my first camera is Minolta x-300!!!!!!

Hey brother! Just subscribed from catching you on grainy days channel. Love it man. You two making me spend all my money. I will say too, as an audio engineer, push that shotgun mic back a little bit, maybe even a little pop filter or blimp if you're feeling frisky. I'm a fan! Thanks for the content my friend

The battle I have is with the dB levels. My rode mic goes into a zoom h4n and the noise floor is … idk not my fav. What’s better!
@@BadFlashes yeah dude I hear you there, I used to use the h4n for field recording back in the day, honestly try something like the audio technica at2020 it's still a condenser, but the large diaphragm makes it way better suited for indoor studio use like you've got going on here. Plus it won't break the budget either! And make sure phantom power is activated on the h4n, just incase it isn't, because without it I don't even know that you'd have any luck getting the mic to level (dB wise)
With that setup I’ll need the audio mic in frame though right? I’m hoping to have it out of frame…

@@BadFlashesohhhh right right right, yeah just physically move it back so it's off screen, add a blimp (the rode rycote blimp is sick and not to expensive so that might be a good option) and then honestly you're probably better off adding digital gain in post, like maybe run it through a utility plug in. We could hop on a zoom call or something maybe and take a peek!

When I shoot concerts: Nikon D4, Z6, D750 (all digital)
When I shoot personal: Contax 645, Kiev 4m, Sony a7iii (with a fringer contax 645 adapter).
Spicy film choices: Fuji G690 blp, 1951 6x6 Rolleicord, Nikon F5, Contax N1, Mamiya 645afd (I have a leaf aptus ii5), polaroid land 250
I have my finger hovering over ebay for a RZ67 + 110 or RB67 + 90, but I haven't been drunk enough.
The Contax645 + 80mm f/2.0 is just the best film camera ever.

im actually shocked you sold the gw690, It's my goto film camera over my bronica/6x7.
I take it with me travelling and get amazing photos on velvia 50 with it.
The biggest reason is because I have a Mamiya 7 … I just love that thing more lol
I saw that Nikon L35AF in the honourable mentions pic. Y u no review, mang?! 🤔🤯😕 Only the nicest lens on a point & shoot like, EVER!!! (arguably...)

I'm trying very hard not to buy a Nikon F100 myself at the moment. I mean, I have the F4, the F90X and even an F50 (and a D600), so why not the F100 too - right? ;-)
My smallest point and shoot is a Konica Big Mini BM-302 - or as I consider it, the reason I don't feel the need to get a Yashica T4.
As far as Digital goes, I now have three DSLR cameras - a Nikon and a Canon - and the one, I got for sentimental reason, a Sony A58, because it has Minolta DNA all over - including the lenses.
Because I also have a Leica M5, my white whale camera at the moment is the Zenza Bronica RF645, but I don't have $ 2,700 US for camera purchases at the moment, so I'm afraid that one will remain out of reach...
Maybe someday you’ll get your white whale! I believe in you. How do you like the big mini? I was thinking about getting one of those at some point
@@BadFlashes I like how much cheaper than the Yashica T4 it was. I like the flash controls including the optional exposure compensation of +/- 1,5 stops and that I can set it to infinity focus. And, I like how small and truly compact it is.
Some people have a hard time pressing the very small buttons on the back to change settings, but I have no problem with that - I guess, I have soft fingertips or something. But, it's noisy and has a reputation for dying, so getting one is taking a chance. Also, there is no lens cover(!).
I picked it up last week and plan to bring it along for my vacation in August as my "pocket camera", when my other cameras are too big for say going to a restaurant or museum and so on, so I haven't put film though it yet.
Well overall that sounds dope AF 😻

Caleb, you don't strike me as the kind of photographer who uses Program Autoexposure mode...ever. I wonder then why you bought the Minolta X-700 instead of the X-570? The X-570 shoots in full manual and aperture priority modes and has no program mode. But it does have a better, full info viewfinder than the X-700. Plus it's generally cheaper because noobs looking for Program mode have been driving up the price of X-700's in the last couple years too. Maybe that's what you meant by "not doing your research".
Yeah for sure. I mean when I bought the cam it was cheap. And was tooo good to pass up. BUT you are right I hardly ever use any auto setting… maybe a few times on my Mamiya 7. But after this video I kinda figured out what you are telling me about the other cameras…. I guess this is my research for all haha a

Great vid, as per usual. I’m surprised you dumped the GW 690. I am constantly stunned by the quality of the negatives I get out of that thing.
Two more suggestions to help drain your bank account: Hexar RF and Hexar AF

Film is great, just a shame a roll of 36 exp colour film costs £473.30. That assumes you can even buy the stuff. I exaggerate but you get my drift.

Check out some grainy, raw, B&W diptychs online. And when you have 72 shots per roll it's like you're being encouraged to experiment with whatever the weirdest artsy ideas you can come up with. I just wish the cameras were cheaper, it's perfect for "I just want to go fire off a ton of shots to see what works without worrying about costs."

I found an AGFA 1/2 frame and just shot a test roll but haven’t developed it yet … hope it works! I really want a 24x24 square frame 135 film camera…
