Short explanation on the Revue cameras: There was a big camerastore in Germany called Fotoquelle and the cameras are only rebranded cameras. The ones in the video were chinon cameras rebranded as revue and they selled them as `their own´. Most of the time they had an pentax K mount. They´re very cheap and not even that bad.
I had a Revueflex AC2 that was pretty nifty aside from the sensitivity dial being in Din. I already had an FM2 though so I sold it to some teacher a while ago and kept the 50mm f1.4. It's not quite as nice as my pentax-m 50mm f1.4 but it's still built very nice.
hey, i’m german and Revue used to be a brand from the mail order company Quelle and most cameras under the Revue name were some sort of badge engineered products, there are some lists online where you can find what manufacturers were actually making them, and from there you can make some good deals on ebay if you’re willing to buy from mostly german vendors
I hope you continue to do a more frequent series of these. It's a win-win! Seems like relatively easy content, and they're really fun and we all get a chance to see camera's we've never seen before... that and we get to engage with you by showcasing our beloved collections!
I think investing in a lens collection is far more superior and contributive than having a camera collection hence why they are more expensive. Lenses paint the photo.
I love my OM-1, the Zuiko 50mm f1.4 is my favorite lens that I have, it’s incredible wide open and stopping it down produces some really sharp results. It even swirls a little 🥴
Revueflex was the house brand of german wearhouse "Quelle", basically Amazon before Amazon existed. Unfortunately they missed the transition to online wearhouses and seized in 2009 after a fusion with german superstore Karstadt. There's tons of these floating around in Germany. I have one. They're decent cameras and pretty reliable!
Incoming insufferable internet comment trying to correct in inaccuracy right here: at 3:40, the FED 5 is not a Russian camera, it was made in Kiev Ukraine (in the USSR at the time)!!!!!
I think its less about how the pictures look quality wise and more about how your process changes depending on how differently each camera feels and operates, thats how it is for me too, plus I think you can justify having a few bodies for different lens mounts and if you get into point and shoots with fixed lenses... yeah, I think there are a lot of reasons to have a few options
It would be great if I had been able to stop at 5-6 cameras 🤣 Well, every camera system comes with different lenses so I guess one could argue that the photos do look different but that's not the reason for having many cameras (at least for me). It might be that I've developed a severe case of GAS since I watch grainydays regularly but I suppose it's just - as someone already mentioned - the different looks and feels. I like to just choose one and go out. Sometimes I choose based on features (auto/manual modes, size etc.).
This makes me feel good about my collection because although its all half broken junk, none of the cameras I have appeared in this video so I guess that means I have a unique taste lol?
Bullshit, the Zorkis are absolutely fantastic. I own a Canon P, which also is great, however the rangefinder needs to be recalibrated rather often. I dropped my Zorki 1c 6 feet onto a rock (I got a good shot though). Apart from a small ding in the bottom plate everything was fine and it still works perfectly. The rangefinder didn't even have to be calibrated. Beat that for build quality!^^
My fave M42 lens so far has been some mamiya glass actually! I got a stupidly cheap 50mm f2 auto mamiya for my shitty sears TLS and it's a real fun lens. Gets nice bokeh wide open as well, best way I can describe it is a bit like an oil painting. Got mine for 15 and I don't see em for much more typically lololol Also those revue cameras are pretty decent, if that's the M42 stop-down metering body that I remember reading about. I think it was one of the few late-M42 mount bodies that could do full program mode by stopping the lens down a moment before raising the mirror to take a reading and determine a shutter speed. Really want one of those
I am sorry but the zorkis are solid cameras and the Jupiter 8 lenses form them are great. the zorkis are tanks as well very durable and cheap to repair
No e-mail service in existence has enough bandwidth to transmit my collection photos.. I literally have hundreds of cameras from every brand you can think of (except Leica..). Seriously, several hundred each Nikons, Canons, Minoltas, Pentaxes… got most of them for $15 or less in the early 2000s. 90% of them will soon be for sale (cheaply because prices are too damn high) on evilBay.
What's the brown one at the middle of 10:38? I found one of those in an auction last week but couldn't figure out what it was and didn't end up buying it.
Polaroid SX-70. At an auction, it would most likely be a Model 1 version, they were the most common. But they had a plastic coupler attached to the motor that would break easily and render the motor winding continuously. Would need CLA or a handy user to figure out the repair. From first hand experience... it's... involved.
Darn since the last email check, I've gotten more cameras and came up with more snarky taglines to put in the email body, should I send an updated email?
I really hope Kodak saves your life. Maybe that is the reason we pay them triple the prices for film now, so they have funding secured to reintroduce aerochrome 🤔
I have literally hundreds of film camera bodies, lenses and associated ephemera. WAY too many to capture in a photo or ten. I’d enjoy sending you a few photos of the best of the bunch, but I can’t find your e-mail information anywhere. Thanks for your videos and entertaining presentations!
I remember being a teenager and blasting porn mp3 files out of car speakers with some friends around town just to watch people's reactions🤣 Didn't blow any speakers but definitely recommend trying it at least once. Bonus points if you get the "confused realization" reaction when they realize they're hearing aggressive mouth noises
If anyone in the comments wants to judge my stuff (because I'm brand new but I inherented a few recently) I'd love to hear the internet's judgment. An ancient Kodak 'pocket camera' that I don't think has a model name, a Polaroid SX-70 Land Camera Alpha 1 Model 2, a Minolta-16 tiny camera that says 'Chiyoda Kogaku-Japan', a Bolsey C22, a Kodak Retina IIa, a Pentax A3000, and a Canon EOS1000. I'll email mine if he plans on doing more videos like this.
I’m emailing you a photo of my collection now, can’t wait to see you check it out in three years
Ouch😮
😂😂😂😂
🤣
Only two years to go 🤞🏻
almost one year to go
If the Flaming Hot stunt *actually* ends up working, I think we will all owe Jason a lifetime supply of film ...
...And toilet paper. ;-)

My Revueflex is a rebranded Zenit 3M, stamped USSR and sold in Western-Germany. Back in 1966 this must've felt weird.
Mine has a M42 screw mount. The original lens was crap, so I bought a Pentacon 50mm 1.8
i can't believe jason verbally berated everyones camera collections in this video, 10/10 video once again grainman
grainman.
loved it.

Mostly, they're just re-branded Chinons, I own three of them, reliable, sturdy beasts

dude, you have to do this in a livestream. i love this format , this is rare techtalk /designtalk.awesome
This episode has the clap!
Caleb’s luck with Pentaxes are amazing lol
Oh my god. Now I want you to roast my camera collection too. Please keep this section alive.
Yes! I love looking over a bunch of $5 thrifted cameras with the boys.
You mean $900 Japan [EXC+++++] hype cameras?
I think investing in a lens collection is far more superior and contributive than having a camera collection hence why they are more expensive. Lenses paint the photo.
Not a single Nickelodeon Photo Blaster? Fools are sleeping.
hahahaha...I am the "more Nikons on your channel" dude, Caleb. Love ya, man.

I prefer the 1.8 myself, the 1.4 has too much chromatic aberration. My 35mm f/2 on the other hand…..😊
What is the hype with the AE1? Really don't get it. The A1 is better and costs similar now. Weird.
Same with the K1000 loads of better Pentaxes for cheaper
Canon EF master race
@@Fauxbourg sadly they look like crap imo :D
@@janniklasbehlen The ones from 1973? They look like the AE1 but all black and are built like soviet tanks haha, I love mine.
@@Fauxbourg I thought you meant the EF mount cameras! :D The FD EF is cool tho but I still like the A1 better. So many features in there.

I have two Leica MDA's one with a Voigtlander 12 and 21 and the other with a Voigtlander 28mm Ultron and I absolutely love them lol
What's the appeal of collecting 5-6~ 35mm cameras? How much of a difference in the photos are people seeing? Genuinely curious.

yes Zorkis are awesome
M5, from a user's perspective (not a drug user, but also maybe a drug user) is so much better than an M6.
Waiting for this fucking entire live, love it, great content, biggest balls in film community
You should have moved your audio sync off by like 1 second after that intro :)
Non jump cut Caleb sounds actually way funnier than jump cut Caleb. 😅
Im cool with the OM cameras flying under the radar forever so the prices don’t go stupid, best SLR system I have ever used.
8:41 - The Revueflex are just rebadged Chinons. AFAIK, the SC-1 is a Chinon CM3.
I like the duo commentary a lot, please give more
