John Romita, Sr. has always been my all-time favorite Spider-Man artist. I couldn't get enough of Spidey comics when I first started reading them in the late seventies, right around the time that Gwen Stacy died. I was in second grade when I read my first Spider-Man comic. I wish I still had it. I don't remember the issue #, but it involved Peter and J. Jonah Jameson being manacled together by the arms, to a bomb. That issue still brings a smile to my face when I think about it. Now that the Marvel Civil War trailer 2 has been released, I am thrilled to see the intense salute to John Romita, Sr. in Spider-Man's costume.

The part at 30:25 where Stan says, "He did the work, I took the credit" ..Yep, that's Stan Lee all over.
Just look at the credit he's taking for all these movies that are coming out.. Sure he wrote a lot of the stories way back in the day, but without the real talents of people like Steve Ditko, John Romita, Gil Kane, Jack Kirby etc., the characters that everyone knows today wouldn't be nowhere near as popular as they are.

I'd disagree. It was exactly what I wanted when I bought the video; an interview with the Romitas about their work, a little history and the most important thing was just seeing them draw. For an artist, it was extremely interesting, and if one pays attention, there are a number of things to learn from that are presented. But, I for one was not interested in any 'comic book and super hero talk', but seeing two great artists sit down and draw. It's a home run for me.
    Way to complain, though.

Ah, John Romita. Yes! When I think of Spider-Man, I picture John Romita's artwork.
I'm reading through the Masterworks series now and when it transitioned over to Romita from Ditka, I was like, "Oh yes, there it is!" The transition is interesting because it was only after Romita took over that the storylines became more interesting and there was more going on in Parker's life with Gwen, Harry and company. Not as much before that so I definitely see Romita's influence and what he brought with him to the series when he took over.

Luke Skywalker - Romita Jr. seems to have gotten lazy or he draws just enough to get it published. Whatever it is, his Spider-Man and Uncanny X-Men work from the 80’s is some of his finest work.

    Both Romitas' are legends.
Always preferred Romita's Mary Jane to anyone elses. Something about here just seemed so spirited and realistic.

To me, somehow Romita sr. is MISTER silver age. You can't say enough good things about Kirby: the man, the master, the (drawing-) monster!, but Romita sort of just poured a touch of class onto everything, whether it be through his great pencils or inks on his own Spider-Man, his inks on Gil Kane's run, on a number of great covers etc. Of course John Buscema was the perfect choice for the How To Draw book, since he could draw anything, but Romita just seems to be Mr Silver Age to me

Stan making jokes about Romita Sr. deserving more money and getting compliments in lieu of being paid more is kind of cringe
