These are gorgeous paintings. The color is luscious. I didn't used to like hard-edge geometric abstraction, but paintings like these have changed my mind.
Just viewed most of your previous films on Thornton Willis. Amazing guy with a really powerful body of work. Hope he continues with his recovery and his painting. Once again, this is the real value of your films, to see an artist from the same observer over a lengthy span of time and to see how that artist has developed. Other examples of this evolution of artists is Trudy Benson, Dana Schultz, Chris Martin, and Kathy Bradford. Well done and a big thanks James and Kate.
Thank you James for all your nice videos last year. I always look forward to see. Some day i hope to expose in New York. A good 2019 James and all viewers!! Greetings from the Netherlands ;-)
Very frustrating interview, you could feel the tip of the iceberg regarding his experiences. For example, if I heard correctly, Julian arrives in New York and throw a big party to essentially announce his arrival :))) I bet he could tell some great stories.
Great one... think I've seen all your reviews of Thornton Willis, plus others. Please stop stepping on all his answers though and interrupting with art mag jargon. He seems earnest and humble, with plenty to say but won't tell you to shut up. Also, the young guitarist at the start is fantastic... did you get a name?
Thank you for the interesting and informative Kalm Report. I turn to it regularly for a look at the NY art scene. One minor comment: when interviewing, you have the annoying habit of constantly interrupting and speaking over the interviewee. Mr. Willis is a humble, soft-spoken man and I would have loved to hear him complete HIS thoughts on his painting. Unfortunately you repeatedly cut him off and panned away. Sloppy video technique and, frankly, insulting.
Thank you Kate and thank you James for bringing the New York scene to the rest of the world!
Wishing you all the best for 2019.

Thank you half assed reporter and Kate😊. Thanks Mr. Thornton. I hope you feel better soon. Love the support for the musicians.
Thank you, James Kalm, and thank you, Kate. I wish you a great and very healthy new year, with gratitude.

(@19:33): This one's my favorite of his pieces in this show which appeared in this video.
James, who was the guy leaving the gallery at the end, you mentioned part of his name.
That wasn't a guy, that was Vered, Thornton's wife...
