I spent 490 (local cash) for my base model m1 macbook air. I was suspicious of the cheap price, but I had apple run a diagnostic in store before I paid. So 490 all in for an m1 compared to 400+tax/shipping for that basket case
Get the butterfly keyboard replaced and apple will replace the logic board for free. My 2017 FN Keys MBP had one of its USB C ports die and they are soldered to the logic board. I didn't even mention it and didn't expect them to fix it, but hey they did!
If it was listed as a 2019, pre M1, why would he expect it to be an M1? Yeah the picture is of an M1 but if I see a brand new car posted as a 2005 model why would I expect it to be a brand new car
My advice…. Cut your loses in half buy reselling it back on eBay for $200 as it is stating a working MacBook Air with the usb fault you mentioned by my experience using eBay you should at least get half your money back, better than being stuck with a “”working laptop”” just sitting there collecting dust
If you really want to sell it, try to find some third party repair guy. If it is just some dead resistors like so, it could be a $10 fix plus a $20 tip. Since you do have one port functioning well, the dead port should not be a big issue and should be fixed as early as possible in avoid of any further real damage. However, the replacement of the port you did, literaly burnt the socket and that was actually terrible and might have already killed the possibility of fixing it at the first place.
My girlfriend has this macbook air: she works as a designer and she has no problem with the entire adobe suite so maybe for this tasks it can be not that bad

the dude wasnt even watching it in 1080p let alone 4k...it was playing at the 480p setting but had no assist from HW decoding, everything likely done on the cpu... with HW decoding, it wouldnt of hit more than 3-5% cpu
That happens Luke it's alright just move forward.
Interesting video - I felt your pain. However, I am a bit puzzled as to why you thought it would be an M1 MB Air. I get that the photo is wrong (it's an M1 machine), but I think the description is correct, so actually haven't they sent you what they described?
On the reliability front, I agree with you that things have improved enormously. I've stopped buying Apple Care+. My household insurance will cover accidental damage and theft, and statutory protection will give me some cover in the case of a systemic failure.
watch the video again. he says the seller has a history of mislabeling things so he thought that maybe the title was wrong.
Under 400 bucks for a MacBook. What did you expect? I don't get the complaint.
I had to use this for CAD at school (it sucked)
I actually got a burn from touching it
Maybe use it as a storage server if not able to sell at all?
You should go to Louis Rossmanns shop and learn board level repair! Would be a cool way to showcase his free workspace which is quite cool.
I watched this on a 2015 13" Macbook Pro. Which is an ancient dual-core 5th gen equipped machine. And it's somehow a far better experience than that Air
My daily is a 2017 Air using a patcher to run Ventura. Shocking this is struggling to even run at all....
No, he record screen on QuickTime while using Mac.Try record screen on QuickTime on your Mac and you see 100 celsius in just a seconds! In real world, in basic stuff, Air 2019 works just fine
I bought 2019, finally i sold it again, i can't use to edit my video, got hot very quick
I can try and replace that burned connector for you!
Maybe you can replace the faulty io connector, and then you can actually fix that USB C port.
i couldnt even watch a movie.. it would heat up and switch off 10-15mins through.. i never bought a macbook since
I used to own one of these as my daily and I upgraded to M1 in February. This thing was terrible, especially with the cooling
I had this MacBook Air and it was such a toilet that it got so hot one of the ram memory died haha
😬
I've had a base model 14inch MacBook Pro since the first week they were in the stores. Its by far still the best computer I've ever owned.
Ebay is getting worst too many scams on it now...Amazon is kicking their ass when it comes to customer satisfaction :)
My girlfriend has this macbook air: she works as a designer and she has no problem with the entire adobe suite so maybe for this tasks it can be not that bad
I wonder what the oldest Mac is that is still usable/better than this MacBook Air
ill take it
Surley if you didn't get the right laptop you can send it back as its doesn't match sellers listing
as a 2019 mba owner I think its a fine laptop (got it for free in 2020 during quarantine thanks to my school) and as butterfly keyboard lover its the only MacBook I like typing on
it is great laptop for basic stuff, all of the problems in this video because Luke record screen on QuickTime while using Mac
